Betty W. Harbison
Betty Woods Harbison, owner of the Herald Publishing Company and of The Grand Prairie Herald and the Devalls Bluff Times, succumbed to a stroke on Monday, Oct. 28. She was 70 years of age.
A native of Wynne, she married the late Bill Woods of Hazen and the couple owned and managed the company’s two newspapers, the Herald House Gift Shop, and other businesses over the years. Bill Woods died in 1995.
In June, 2001, she married Jay Harbison, also originally of Wynne. He survives her. She also leaves three daughters, Roxanne Woods Bradow of Hazen, Patti Rye of Little Rock and Suzette Elmore of Lonoke, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was a long time member and board member of the Hazen First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a former Sunday School teacher and youth group leader.
She also was a past president of the Arkansas Press Association, an office which her late first husband held before her.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church in Hazen. Visitation with family will be Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Hazen Cemetery
under the direction of Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Christian Bradow, Nathaniel Bradow, J. J. Calk, Stephen Parker, Drew Parker and Joseph Skarda.
Estelle Cleveland
Estelle Cleveland, 61, of Cabot, died Thursday, April 24, 2003.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Cleveland; one son; one daughter; three sisters; seven brothers; one grandchild.
Funeral services were Monday at Cabot Funeral Chapel.
Richard Armstrong
Richard Armstrong, 61, of Cabot, passed away on April 25. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Helen Armstrong and one brother.
He is survived by one son, Jamie Armstrong of Shippingsburg, Pa.; three daughters, Christy Whalen of Whittier, Calif., Betty Henry of Austin, and Mary Rogers of North Little Rock; two sisters, Rose Ann Reeder of Hartford, Conn., and Becky Klise of Klamath Falls, Ore.; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Mary Greer.
Memorial service was Tuesday, April 29 at 6 p.m. at Cabot Funeral Chapel. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
Versa Pearl Peel
Versa Pearl Peel of Little Rock, died April 25, 2003.
She was a member of Henderson United Methodist Church since 1930, Charter member of Friendly Matrons class, United Methodist women, and a charter member of the 59’ers club.
Survivors include a son, John “Billy” Peel, of Mabelvale ; one sister, Cecil Owen of Cabot; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life was held April 28, at Henderson United Methodist Church. Griffin Leggett Forest Hills was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Cemetery.

Jackson Dean Privitt
Jackson Dean Privitt, son of Jennifer Marie Privitt of Lonoke, died April 26, 2003.
Other survivors include grandparents, Dean and Karen Privitt.
Graveside services were April 28, at Riverwood Memorial Gardens, by Roller-Owens Funeral Home.
Pauline McVay Roza
Pauline McVay Roza of Cabot died April 26, 2003, at the age of 79.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by three children, Judith Mae Sample, Linda Ruth Chandler and Michael McVay; sisters, Margaret Newby, Mary Allison, and Delois Mantooth; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be in her honor at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home with burial at a later date at Edgewood Memorial Park.

Ealnor Jackson
Ealnor Jackson, 70, of Austin, passed away Sunday, April 27. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Matilda Wooldrige, two brothers, one sister and one daughter.
She is survived by four sons, Ricky, John, Rex and Robert Latourrette; two daughters, Marsha Parish and Tosha Hannah; one brother, Jimmy Wooldrige; three sisters, Corrina Backus, Lucille Williams and Willie Gene Branch; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be graveside at Beebe City Cemetery
on Saturday at 10 a.m. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 p.m. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
Jessie L. Cullum
Jessie L. Cullum, 80, died June 1, 2003.
Survivors are her children, Angeline Christine Waggoner of Carlisle, Joseph Hershel Cullum of California, Daniel Ray Cullum of Sherwood, Media Roberts of Jacksonville, Marilyn Sue Thrift of Austin, Glenda Jo Crane of Ward and Cathy Fowler of Hazen; a brother, Montford Nelson of Little Rock; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Wednesday at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel, Lonoke, with interment in Quattlebaum Cemetery, Bee Branch.
Dwight Rushin
Dwight Stevie “Pete” Rushin of El Paso died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at the age of 49.
He was a member of Crosspoint Ministries in Beebe and was retired Sergeant from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s office.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Rushin; his children, Brian Steven Rushin of Lonoke, Brandy Michelle Godsey of Cabot, Brent Dwight Rushin of Jacksonville, Steven Allen Rushin of Bryant and Travis Wayne Bono of El Paso; five grandchildren; his parents, Thearl and Oceline Rushin; his brother, Keith Rushin of Lonoke; and his sister, Sheila Hill of Little Rock.
A celebration of his life was held May 31, at McArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville with interment at Sunset Memorial Garden in Lonoke.
Griffin-Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, North Little Rock, was in charge.
Memorials may be made in his honor to Arkansas Hospice and/or Crosspoint Ministries Children’s Ministry.
Otis Houston
Otis Houston, 75, of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of England, died May 25, 2003.
He was a native of Lonoke County, and served in the U.S. Navy a number of years.
Survivors are his wife, Rosemary Sonley Houston; sons, Rodney Houston, Randy Houston, and Gregory Houston, all of Oklahoma City, Arthur Lee Houston of California and Otis Houston Jr. of Chicago; daughters, Vanessa McKnight and Valerie Houston, both of Oklahoma City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Corinne Whitehead of Lonoke.
Funeral was May 31 in Oklahoma City.
Marshlyn J. Richardson
Marshlyn Jane Richardson, age 65, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, June 1, 2003.
Survivors include her mother, Pamela Yandle of Cabot; six children, Lanny Richardson of Booneville, Beth Payne of Tyler, Texas, David Richardson of North Little Rock, Natalie Richardson of Little Rock, Paul Richardson of Cabot, Donna Williams of Wye Mountain; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, in the Chapel of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, with burial at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
