Ivy

James T. "Tom" Ivy, 71, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday at his residence. Born in Pocahontas, he had lived in Jonesboro most of his life and retired from Southwestern Transportation after 32 years of service.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Doris Bond Ivy of the home; three sons, Ronnie Ivy of Harrisburg, Gary Ivy of Paragould and Stephen Ivy of Jonesboro; two daughters, Marshia Thrasher of Columbia, Tenn., and Judy Brinkley of Jonesboro; one brother, Bobby Ivy of Paragould; two sisters, Geraldine Rhodes of Kennett, Mo., and Louise Vernosky of Pottsville, Pa.; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 Thursday afternoon at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home chapel, with Harold Anderson and Wayne Clements officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

Hanks infant

Allen Lynn Hanks, infant son of Jessica Cofield, died Tuesday in Jonesboro.

Other survivors include a sister, Devan Hanks of the home; a brother, Dillan Lawrence of the home; maternal grandmother, Janet Maddox of Jonesboro; maternal great-grandparents, G.W. and Patricia Hanks of Jonesboro; and paternal great-grandmother, Virginia Cofield of Jonesboro.

Graveside services have been scheduled for 4 this afternoon at New Hope Cemetery, with Cyril Miller officiating. Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Edwards

Mrs. Martha Sue Edwards, 70, of Hardy, died Friday at Ash Flat Nursing and Rehab. She was a retired kindergarten teacher in the Cave City School District for more than 25 years. She was affiliated with the Spring River Baptist Church at Hardy.

Survivors include two sons, Joey Edwards of Lonoke and Wayne Edwards of North Little Rock; one daughter, JoAnn Counts of Hardy; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday morning at 10 at Spring River Baptist Church, with Floyd Rikard and Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery at Highland. Heath Funeral Home's Oak Hill Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be this afternoon from 4 until 6 this evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Roberts

Vida Mildred Roberts, 85, of 702 Burrow Street, Pocahontas, died Saturday at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab.

Survivors include one son, Dick Roberts of Pocahontas; three grandchildren and one stepgrandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Roberts.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 at Masonic Cemetery at Pocahontas, with Steve Wingo officiating. McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Crawford

Mrs. Flora Mae Crawford, 95, of Pocahontas, died Saturday at Randolph Home. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter, Dortha Gregory of Pocahontas; one sister, Nola Owens of Auburn Hills, Mont.; one grandchild; one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Crawford.

Funeral services will be Monday morning at 10 at McNabb Funeral Home at Pocahontas, with Terry Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery at Pocahontas.

Visitation will be this afternoon from 4 until 6 this evening at the funeral home.

Goodman

Jessie O. "Jack" Goodman, 80, of Jonesboro died early Saturday at his residence. Born in Jonesboro, he was retired after 23 years as a salesman from the former Childs Company in Jonesboro and 15 years of self-employment in sales. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Jonesboro.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lillian Goodman of the home; two sons, Larry Goodman of Finch and Roy Goodman of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10 Monday morning at the Shiloh United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jim Chaplain officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery, under the direction of the Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Pallbearers will be Harry Lee, Miles Harvey, Danny Canamore, Michael Summers, Glenn Cole and Mark Potter.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 this afternoon at the funeral home.

Lasting memorials may be made to the Shiloh Cemetery Fund.

Miss Austin

Miss Karen Chare Austin, 34, of Fayetteville, formerly of Jonesboro, died of natural causes Friday at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. Born in Pine Bluff, she was a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a master's degree in English and was a teacher at John Brown University and Shiloh Christian School.

She was a former governor's scholar, attended Governor's School and was a former member of the Arkansas Governor's Commission on People with Disabilities. She served as a semester missionary through the North American Mission Board, at the Gamo Mission Center in Houston's inner city and as a chaplain intern at LSU Medical Center, Shreveport. She was a member of Fayetteville's First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her parents, Ron and Linda Austin of Fayetteville; a brother, Chip Garland of Austin, Texas; her paternal grandmother, Kathryn Jewell Rodgers of the Pleasant Ridge community; her paternal great-grandfather, Elmer Lee Austin of Pine Bluff; her maternal grandfather, Russell Willis Swope Sr. of St. Petersburg, Va.; and her maternal stepgrandfather, Bob Pitts of Fayetteville.

Funeral services will be at 9 Tuesday morning at Fayetteville's First Baptist Church and at 4:30 that afternoon at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church near Rison. Dr. Jere D. Mitchell, Rev. David Harris and Rev. Don Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, under the direction of Moore's Chapel of Fayetteville.

Visitation will be from 5 Monday afternoon until 7:30 that evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Harrison House, formerly Kidney House, 704 South Valentine, Little Rock, or First Baptist Church International Missions, 20 East Dickson, Fayetteville.

Vuncannon

Funeral services for Jimmy Wayne Vuncannon, 50, of 1153 Craighead Road 339, Jonesboro, who died Friday morning in a two-car accident on Arkansas 463 near Bay, will be at 10:30 Monday morning at Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dave Burgess officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park.

A native of Booneville, Miss., he lived in Trumann before moving to Jonesboro nine years ago. He worked in the sales department of Roach Manufacturing for the past 17 years. He taught school in Lepanto and was a member of the Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Vuncannon of the home; a daughter, Brandi Vuncannon of the home; a stepdaughter, Donna Lively of Trumann; two stepsons, Nathan Smullin and Greg Smullin, both of Trumann; and two brothers, Rev. Don Vuncannon and Floyd Vuncannon, both of Jonesboro.

Active pallbearers will include Charlie Parker, Hal Stewart, Eddie Crain, Allen Harness, Maurice Johnson and Tom Lamberson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard Harp, Freddy McKinney, Jason Stewart, Eddie Richards, Jimmy Stotts, Obie Bates, Greg Burk and Greg Whitlock.

Visitation will be from 4 this afternoon until 8 this evening at the funeral home.

For lasting memorials, the family requests consideration be given to the New Hope Baptist Church, 1021 New Hope Road, Jonesboro.

Smith

Mearl Smith, 86, of Qulin, Mo., died Friday at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Born in Piggott, he was retired from Texas Eastern Petroleum Products Pipeline after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Fagus General Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Poplar Bluff, Mo., for 51 years.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia B. Smith of the home; a daughter, Shirley Mallard of Poplar Bluff; four sons, Kenny Smith of Seymour, Ind., Vernon Smith of Sikeston, Mo., Mike Smith of Qulin and Doug Smith of Poplar Bluff; a sister, Mozell Ogden of Campbell, Mo.; a brother, J.W. Smith of Qulin; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 Monday morning at Landess Funeral Home chapel in Campbell, Mo., with Shane Mallard officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis.

Pallbearers will be Matt Mallard, Todd Mallard, Cole Smith, Lane Smith, Marty Smith and Randy Wheaton.

Visitation will be from 5:45 this afternoon, when Masonic rites will be given, until 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Williams

Mrs. Joyce L. Williams, 69, of Willis, Mich., formerly of Paragould, died Friday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Michigan. Born in Reed City, Mich., she was a nurse at Ypsilanti State Hospital for 29 years.

Survivors include her mother, Edith Schell of Swartz Creek, Mich.; a daughter, Brenda Riddle of Willis, Mich.; a brother, Clifford Russell of Swartz Creek; four sisters, Margie Rodenback of Swartz Creek, Donna Beriel of Fenton, Mich., and Barbara King and Helen Savage, both of Flint, Mich.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Williams, and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 2 Wednesday afternoon at Stark Funeral Service in Ypsilanti, Mich., with Rev. Jim McKinnies of Willis Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Union-Udell Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 6 to 9, Tuesday afternoon from 2 to 4 and Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
