Winnie Mae Moore
Winnie Mae Wilcox Moore, 92, of Beebe, died March 21, 2002.
She was an active member of the music department at Cocklebur Baptist Church in Ward.
Survivors are one daughter, Bonnie Chadick of Wichita, Kan.; two sons, Homer Moore of Little Rock, and Mike Moore of Ward; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held Tuesday, March 26, followed by a memorial celebration at Cocklebur Baptist Church off Highway 38, east of Cabot.
Memorials may be given to the Cabot Crisis Pregnancy Center, P.O. Box 795, Cabot, Ark., 72023, for the purchase of ultrasound equipment or to Gideons International; P.O. Box 21313, Little Rock, Ark., 72221, for the distribution of Bibles.

Pearl E. Tait
Pearl E. Tait, age 92, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by daughter, Charlotte Bennett; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorene Bennett of Carlisle, and brother, Donald M. Boyette of Texas.
She was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Carlisle and a volunteer at Baptist Medical Center for 20 years.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church with burial in Carlisle Cemetery by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.

John Oliver Spurlock
John Oliver Spurlock, age 79, died March 20, 2002.
He was a retired County Supervisor with the United States Department of Agriculture. He served in the United States Air Force retiring as a Major and was a member of Lonoke Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Casey Spurlock; sons, Keith Spurlock (Kim) and Bruce Spurlock (Shirley), all of Texas, and Terry Spurlock of Little Rock; grandchildren, Andrew and Brooke; and one sister, Lucille St. Cruz of Texas.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lonoke Baptist Church with interment in Lonoke Cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 2200 Fort Roots Drive, North Little Rock, or Lonoke Baptist Church.

Mac Loman Graham
Mac Loman Graham, age 69, of Quitman, formerly of Cabot, passed away at White County Medical Center, Wednesday, March 20, 2002.
He was a Korean War Army Veteran, Honorary 33rd-degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of Masonic Crescent Lodge #403, the Scimitar Temple and Scottish Rites, all in Little Rock, Plumbers Union Local 155, and attended Assembly of God in Heber Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T.C. and Lillian Graham; and a brother, Howard Graham, and an infant son, Gerald Loman Graham.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Freda Richard Graham of the home; son, Lonnie K. Graham (Tracy) of Quitman; two daughters, Helen Schroeder (Kent) of Cabot, Jannie Wilson (Bill) of Quitman; two brothers, Leroy Graham (Betty) of Beebe, Alfred Graham (Tressie) of Tennessee; sister, Faye Fleming of Baton Rouge, La.; 11 grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at the Heber Springs Assembly of God in Heber Springs by Rev. Ron Kelley. Interment Grizzard Cemetery in El Paso. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Mildred Thomas
Mildred Covington Thomas, 82, of Hickory Plains died March 20, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Dalton Thomas of Ward; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Dorothy Outlaw of Romance, Ermarie Green and Joan Hamric, both of Texas, Jeraldine Poor of Oklahoma, and Linda Luck of Ward; five brothers, Robert Covington, Billy Covington and Donnie Covington, all of Hickory Plains, Kenneth Covington of Michigan, and Jimmie Dale Covington of Greenbrier.
Funeral was March 23 at Hickory Plains United Methodist Church, with burial in Hickory Plains Cemetery by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.

Ferrel G. Treat
Ferrel G. Treat, 80, of Plainview died March 22, 2002.
He retired from Dow Chemical in Russellville and was a timberman. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 8525 in Plainview.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Stinson Treat; sons, Donald W. Treat of Cabot and Kevin Treat of Ola; daughters, Krista Sullivan of Manchester, N.H., Jeanie Kinkade of Waterloo, Iowa, Betty Kaye Frost of Rover, Connie Yates of Onyx, Janet Yates of Buckner; a brother, Leeman Treat of Marshall; one sister, Mable Clark of Marshall; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was March 25 at the Jesus Name Pentecostal Church in Plainview, with burial in Salem Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville.

Matthew Watts
Matthew Darrett Watts, 21, of Cabot passed away March 25, 2002.
He was employed at Busy Bee in Jacksonville.
Survivors include his parents, Martin and Pamela Watts of Cabot; his girl friend, Mindy Paul; a son, MacCoy Dylan Watts of Cabot; and a brother, Michael Duane Watts of Gravel Ridge; nephew, Micah Watts of Gravel Ridge, and neice, Ashley Watts of Beebe.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, March 28, with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, March 29, at Cabot Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Gladys McCamy
Gladys Lillian McCamy, 92, of Cabot died March 25, 2002.
Survivors include a brother, Matthew Totter of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister, Irene Totter of Jacksonville.
Graveside service will be at noon, March 28, at Rest Hills Memorial Park, North Little Rock, by Cabot Funeral Home.

Charles ‘Chicken’ Jeans
Charles R. “Chicken” Jeans, 72, a retired farmer, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002.
He was born in England, Aug. 4, 1929, the son of Dewitt and Mildred Hicks Jeans. He was a lifelong resident of England and had served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, U.S. Army veteran, member of Masonic Lodge 507, former England School Board member, and former Agricultural Plantation Museum board member. Chicken was the sponsor of the annual “Po Boy Supper” held in Coy for many years. The supper was considered a must by most politicians and drew many state and local officials.
Survivors include his wife, Lila Wilson Jeans; two sons, Kevin and Kyle (Stacy) Jeans; two daughters, Tracey Williams and Karen Jeans; two grandchildren, Brianna Williams and Ky Jeans; and sister, Lenora Watson, all of England.
Services were Jan. 25, at Wilson Funeral Home, England. Interment was in Mulberry Cemetery.
Active pall bearers were Chet Chaney, Tommy Smith, Ricky Martin, Will Feland, David Nipps and Laudis Brantley.
Honorary pall bearers were Joe Melton, Charlie Troutman, Dude Spence, Jimmy Boggess, Bobby Roe, Carroll King, Dearl Henderson and David Shelby.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jasper Self
Jasper Franklin “Bud” Self, 61, of Little Rock, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002.
He was of the Christian faith.
He is survived by a brother, Joseph Self of Carlisle; sisters, Edith Bollier of Dallas, Texas, Diane Barrett of Bentonville, and Shirley Talbert of Benton.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 26, in the Chapel of Griffin Leggett-Forest Hills. Interment was in Pinecrest Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Ward United Methodist Church “Good Samaritan Fund”, P.O. Box 251, Ward, Ark., 72176.

Goldie Johnson
Goldie S. Johnson, 97, of Carlisle died Jan. 26, 2002.
She was a retired elementary teacher and the widow of W. Chester Johnson. She graduated from Carlisle High School in 1924 and attended Arkansas State Teacher’s College in Conway. “Miss Goldie,” as she is fondly remembered, taught the first grade in Carlisle for almost 20 years. She delighted in the fact that she taught quite a few students whose parents she had also taught in previous years. The Carlisle Methodist Church was a major part of her life. She was a Sunday School teacher and active member of the United Methodist Women for many years. She and her husband, Chester, served as lay leaders to the Little Rock District’s Annual Conference of Arkansas Methodist Churches for 14 consecutive years.
She is survived by her only son, Dale Robert Johnson of Pensacola, Fla.; her only sister, Jewell Jackson of Carlisle; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Rev. Wade Shownes conducted her funeral services at Carlisle First United Methodist Church, Wednesday, Jan. 30. Burial was in Carlisle Cemetery by Westbrook Funeral Home.
