George Murray IV
George Henry Murray IV, 56, of North Little Rock, formerly of Lonoke, died Feb. 10, 2002.
He is survived by a son, G.H. Murray V of Melbourne, Fla.; four stepdaughters; sister, Daniele Netherton, Indianapolis; sister, Georgia Murray-Schuller, Lonoke; brother, Kurt Joseph Murray, Yellville.
Ashes were scattered by U.S. Navy.
Memorial services: Friday, March 8, 2002, 6 p.m., Bess Chisum-Stephens, YWCA, 12th and Cleveland, Little Rock. Service by Ballroom, Latin, Swing Organization, Little Rock.

James Lee Arthur Jr.
James Lee Arthur Jr., age 75, of Carlisle, died Sunday, March 3, 2002.
He attended the Hamilton United Methodist Church at Carlisle and was a retired supervisor for the North Little Rock Street Department.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Susan Rounsaville of Little Rock; two grandsons; a brother, David Arthur of Augusta; and sisters, Maxine Burson of West Helena, Esther Arseneau, Jacksonville, Wanda Dupree of Bossier City, La., and Nancy Buckllew of Newport, Ore.
Funeral services were Wednesday, March 6, in the Roller Chenal Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Judsonia.

Carthel Jones
Carthel Jones, age 78, of Beebe, died Saturday, March 2, 2002.
He was retired from Borden Dairy in Oklahoma City, Okla.; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of First United Methodist Church, Beebe.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jones of Beebe; one daughter, Barbara of Cabot; two brothers, Verlon Jones of Searcy and Alanzo Jones of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Charlene Griffin and Sue Sawrie, both of Little Rock; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was March 5, at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Beebe.

Earnest H. Bowman
Earnest H. Bowman, 58, of Cabot died Saturday, March 2, 2002.
Funeral was March 5, First Trinity Pentecostal Church, Cabot. Interment in King Cemetery. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Effie Gladys Harness
Effie Gladys (Bonds) Harness, 89, of Clinton, died Saturday, March 2, 2002.
She is survived by her five children, Faye Nixon of Bee Branch, Lindsey Harness of Mountain View, Wayne Harness of Sherwood, Shirlene Ward of Clinton, and Carolyn Parker of Carlisle; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jack, Loyd and Bill Bonds, and one sister, Zona Harness, all of Clinton.
Services were March 5, at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton. Burial was in Holly Mountain Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Roller-McNutt of Clinton.

Gussie M. Cox
Gussie M. Cox, 80, of Little Rock died Saturday, March 2, 2002.
She was a member of the Baseline Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Otis Cox; two daughters, Alice King of Mississippi and Sue Cox of West Helena; two sisters, Jewell Sullivan of Mayflower and Gertrude Garner of Huntsville, Ala.; two brothers, Haston Farr of Fullerton, Calif., and Archie Farr of Philadelphia, Pa.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Tuesday in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth. Burial was in Carlisle Cemetery in Carlisle.

Alpha Lenderman
Alpha Lenderman, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002.
During her life, she worked at Shorty Small’s Cafe, Sweden Cream and finally at Anderson’s Restaurant for 22 years as a waitress, hostess and cashier. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Beebe.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Lenderman of Opelousas, La.; one sister, Madie Westbrook of Russellville; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was March 3, at First Baptist Church, Beebe, with burial to follow in Sylvania Cemetery by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.
Memorials may be made to Beebe First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 67, Beebe, AR 72012.

Elizabeth White
Elizabeth Michelle White, age 3 months, of Cabot died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002.
She is survived by her father, John Williams of Cabot; mother, Amanda White of Cabot; stepfather, Jeremy Graff of Cabot; sister, Nicole Williams of Cabot; grandparents, Bill and Barbara Williams of Cabot, Tony and Theresa Marshall of Beebe, Steve and Cathy Graff of Cabot; great-grandparents, Sharon Williams of Rogers, Gladys Hammons of Cabot, Dean and Betty Wood of Pleasant Plains, Charles and Pat Cooper of Little Rock.
Services were Monday, March 4, at the Cabot Funeral Chapel. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Virginia W. Mallett
Virginia Wilson Mallett, 79, of Lonoke, died Friday, March 1, 2002.
She was the widow of Naymon Mallett.
Survivors include her sons, Dewey Johnson and Naymon Mallett; daughters, Connie George and Nora Naples; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday, March 4, at the Harris Chapel. Burial at Wye Mountain Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Clinton Cusick
Clinton Franklin Cusick, age 76, of Benton; died Wednesday Feb. 27, 2002.
Cusick spent 39 years in the Army reserves, 15 years at the Arkansas Forestry Commission and 23 years at the Little Rock City Fire Department as captain. He was inducted into the Arkansas Roadrunners Hall of Fame in 1997, a distinguished rifleman and on the All Army Rifle Team. He was a member of Grape Chapel Church of God, Dixie Antique Car Club, Metropolitan Car Club, Saline County Striders, Pikes Peak Marathon Society, Arkansas Running Klub and Arkansas Razorback Car Club. He was on the Sr. Olympics Board, Saline County Fair Board and Pikes Peak Marathon Board.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Sue Cusick, of Benton; son Reggie Cusick of Dallas, Texas; daughter Donna Goodner of Benton; sister Nellie Price of Lonoke; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services was Saturday at the Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Pipkin Cemetery.

Marion Isbell
Marion Lafayette Isbell died March 1, 2002.
He was a member of Hamilton Missionary Baptist Church, a retired farmer, carpenter, a WWII veteran, a member of the American Legion and Veteraans of Foreign Wars and served as a director of Farmer’s Protective Insurance Co. for 12 years.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Isbell; one son, William Holden; and one daughter, Virginia Cloud, all of Carlisle; a brother, Bernard Isbell of Little Rock; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday at Hamilton Baptist Church with interment in Hamilton Cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

John T. Holston
Rev. John T. Holston died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Mary Ruth Hastings, two sons, Dr. John S. Holston of Searcy, Fredrick T. Holston of Farmington, Utah; and two grandchildren.
He pastored Southern Baptist Churches in Arkansas including Clarendon, Lexa, Lonoke, Batesville, Texarkana, Nashville, and Pilgrims Rest. He was a member of Baring Cross Baptist Church.
A memorial service was held at Baring Cross Baptist Church on Saturday, March 2. Interment was in Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart.
Memorials may be given to the “Praise The Lord” building fund of Baring Cross Baptist Church, 1224 Franklin Street, North Little Rock, Ark. 72114.
