Michael McManus
Michael Hayes McManus, age 57, of Stuttgart died Wednesday at Stuttgart Regional Medical Center.
He was a plumber, a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was an Army veteran receiving the Bronze Star.
Survivors are his wife, Patricia Maloy McManus; one son, Michael Shane McManus of Cabot; two step-daughters, Kara Lynn Martin of Dallas, Texas and Erika Nickole Kelly of Billings, Mont.; two sisters, Patricia Lawrence and Becky Lepine both of DeWitt; one grandson.
Rosary services were said Friday night at Turpin Funeral Home by Father John Janesko with funeral services Saturday at Turpin Funeral Home with burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials be made to the donor’s choice.

Charles Rowland
Charles Thomas Rowland, age 88, of Ward died Monday, March 11, 2002.
He was a World War II Army-Air Corp veteran, an avid golfer, and won the gold medal in the Arkansas Senior Olympics at the age of 80 for golfing.
He was an honest, loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be dearly missed by all.
Six brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 64 years, Faye Bizzell Rowland of the home; son, Charles Michael Rowland, and his wife, Jeannie, of Franklin, Tenn.; a daughter, Carol Susan Herndon, and husband, Cliff, of Cabot; two brothers; two sisters; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Apple Hill Cemetery in Ward. Arrangements were by Cabot Funeral Home.

Clarice Gaddy Hobbs
Clarice Gaddy Hobbs, 74, of 3516 South Cherry St., Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Hobbs was born Dec. 1, 1927, in Jefferson County, to Jesse Franklin and Florence Koonce Gaddy. She was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School.
She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 37 years, retiring in 1984, as a supervisor network administrator. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and Hazel Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Hobbs, whom she married Aug. 1, 1947, in Pine Bluff; two children and their families, William Cary Hobbs of Cabot, and his children, Kyle Robinson Hobbs of Cabot and Deborah Elizabeth Hobbs of New Orleans, and Deborah Hobbs Kell and Roger Kell and their sons, Jerod Lee and William Casey, all of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Geneva Crane of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Agnes Adams of Biloxi, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Edwin F. Gaddy and William Aaron Gaddy.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 2, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son, with Rev. Bryan Jarrett officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the JRMC Hospice, 1515 W. 42nd. Pine Bluff, Ark. 71603.

Chan Cross
Chan McCabe Cross, age 27, of Vilonia, died Tuesday.
He was a regional manager for Appletree Tree Trimming Service of North Little Rock, a Certified Arborist and was a member of the International Society of Arboriculture.
Survivors are his mother and step-father, Pamela and Dwight Mahan of Beebe; father and step-mother, James and Tanya McCabe of Cabot; three brothers, James Scott of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Robert Paul McCabe of San Francisco, Calif., Brent Alan Mahan of Altamont, Kan.; two sisters, Jessika Suzanne Mahan of Beebe and Jennifer Jo Mahan of Altamont, Kan.; his grandparents, Doris and T. J. McCabe of Atkins, and John Eugene and Laveta Mahan of Altamont, Kan.
Graveside services were Saturday, March 9, at Oakland Cemetery in Russellville. Burial was by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Memorials may be made to the Angel Tree Christmas Program at Beebe, Ark.

A.J. Dixon
A.J. Dixon of Ward, age 73, died Monday, March 10, 2002.
He served in law enforcement for Lonoke County, served on Ward City Council, was a boilermaker, welded for many friends and family, owned and operated Ward Meat Processing.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dollie Bayles Dixon; a son, Larry Dixon of Cabot; a daughter, Janice Potter of Ward; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; siblings, Dearl Dixon of Austin, Betty Duke of Austin, Francis Rowe of Ward, Bonnie Griffith of Ward and Ronnie Dixon of McRae.
Funeral service was Wednesday, March 13, at First Baptist Church, Ward, with burial in Monk Cemetery by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.

Effie Rose Franks
Effie Rose Franks, 90, died Wednesday.
Survivors are sons, John H. Franks of Morrilton, Charles Franks of Shirley; daughter, Frances Webb of Lonoke; sister, Enda Orr of Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren.
Funeral service was Friday at Roller Crouch Chapel, Mountain View. Burial, Eglantine Cemetery near Shirley.

Elizabeth Hayes
Elizabeth Mary Hayes of Carrollton, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2002, in Lewisville, Texas.
She was born Sept. 27, 1916, in White County, Ark. Elizabeth was known throughout Texas and Arkansas for her longtime service and dedication to the Al-Anon Family Groups. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lonoke, Ark. She was president of the Rebekah Lodge in McAllen, Texas, and retired restaurant owner in the Rio Grande Valley.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Hayes; her sister, Frances Ferguson Huckeby; her daughter, Fay Louise Welch.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Bratton of Lewisville; granddaughters, Kathi Ferris of Carrollton, Jeanna Moravits of Corpus Christi, Shona Huffman of Carrollton, and Stacy Mullins of Pensacola, Florida; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2002, at Sparkman/Dickey Funeral Home in Dallas with Rev. Ben Smith officiating.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Lonoke Cemetery in Lonoke, Arkansas, with Rev. Ed Smith officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Sparkman/Dickey Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas.

Donald L. White
Donald L. White, age 65, of Edgemont, died March 5, 2002.
He was a member of Teamster Union 876, which he retired from. He was also a Korean War veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine White of the home; son, Douglas K. White of Cabot; daughter, Brenda McMahan of Sheridan; stepson Richard A. Pruitt of McRae; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a brother, G. Norman White of Baton Rouge, La.; sister Doris Flynt of Lonoke.
Funeral services were held March 8, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, North Little Rock. Burial was in Rest Hills Memorial Park

Kathleen Halferty
Kathleen Lorena Halferty, 51, died Monday, March 4, 2002.
She is survived by her parents, Don and Marge Halferty; three brothers, Donald Halferty Jr. of Cabot, Robert Halferty and Mike Halferty, both of North Little Rock.
Mass of Christian Burial was Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Entombment was in Rest Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to The Arkansas Hospice Center, 2200 Fort Roots Drive, North Little Rock, Ark. 72114, or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, 7000 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116.

Janet Sue Benton
Janet Sue Schneider Benton, 57, of Jacksonville died March 3, 2002.
She was a long time volunteer at the Jacksonville Senior Citizen Center.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Benton of Jacksonville; son, Jon Benton of Cabot; daughter, Lori Mills of Jacksonville; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Martha Rockenbach
Martha Ann Rockenbach, 60, died March 4, 2002.
Survivors include her husband, David Rockenbach; sons, Glenn Partridge of Cave City, Ricky Partridge of Cabot and David Rockenbach of Batesville; one sister; three brothers; and one granddaughter.
Graveside service was Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Garden by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.
