Mildred McNew
Mildred Chambers McNew, 74, of Hickory Plains, died Oct. 12, 2002.
She was a member of Hickory Plains Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherry Ann Free of Beebe, Shirley Chambers of Cabot; four sons, Newton McNew of Sherwood, Rev. John McNew and Mark McNew of Hickory Plains, Harold McNew of Little Rock; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nina Higginbotham of Houston, Texas, Theressa Kaufmann of Jacksonville, Cindy Chapman of Cabot; three brothers, Hugh Chambers of Martinsville, Ind., Jack Chambers of Cabot, John Chambers of Jacksonville.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Jacksonville First Church of the Nazarene. Burial was in Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Jerry Don Houser
Jerry Don Houser, age 19, died Oct. 14, 2002.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Elizabeth Houser of Scott; grandparents, Carroll and Margaret Houser of North Little Rock and Ola Sims of Scott; great-grandmother, Rhoda Stewart of Lonoke; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Services were Wednesday at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel, Lonoke with interment in Hester Cemetery.
Lois Lorene Noakes
Lois Lorene Wooten Noakes, 81, of Butlerville, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002.
She is survived by two sisters, Christine Garrett and Mae Priest.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral was Oct. 15, at Westbrook Funeral Home with entombment in Rest Hills.
Malcolm Gannaway Jr.
Lt. Col. Malcolm W. Gannaway Jr., 84, of Little Rock, died Oct. 11, 2002.
Serving with the Air Force for 27 years, he was a veteran of WWII in the Pacific Theater and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church for 35 years, and the Last Man’s Club. He was also retired as a loan officer from Metropolitan Bank.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Demetra Gannaway; one son, Woody of China; four daughters, Carol Eruren of North Little Rock, Melinda Frey of Bryant, Kristy Morell of Benton, and Susan Brown of Cabot; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A gathering in remembrance of Mr. Gannaway was held Monday, Oct. 14, at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Chapel, with burial in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Janis Ellis
Janis Ellis age 78, of Walnut Ridge died Oct. 15, 2002.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Walnut Ridge.
She is survived by one daughter, Marguerite Dory of Cabot; two sons, Charles Ellis of Clinton, and Michael Ellis of Southlake, TX; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial service was Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 at the First Presbyterian Church of Walnut Ridge with Rev. Ron Newberry officiating. Private burial service was in Lonoke cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donation be made to the Walnut Ridge High School Lt. Col. Van Shaver Ellis Scholarship Fund or the charity of their choice.
Buford E. Glover
Buford Edward Glover, 80, of Jacksonville, died Oct. 20, 2002. He was a 392nd Bomb Group veteran of World War II where he was decorated with the Silver Star, Congressional Medal, and Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters. He owned car dealerships for 50 years in North Little Rock. He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church and Sertoma Club.
Survivors include his wife, Marian Bryant Glover; two sons, Michael Glover of Sherwood and Chucky Glover of North Little Rock; one daughter, Marilyn Kay Miller of Jacksonville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St.
Lori Lynn Pettiejohn
Lori Lynn Pettiejohn, 18, of Glenwood died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002.
She was born in Jacksonville, was a senior at Caddo Hills High School, where she was a member of the choir, FBLA and FCCLA, and served as an office aide at school.
Survivors include her father, Clinton Pettiejohn of Glenwood; her mother, Brenda Spicer of Cabot; a brother, Charles Carter of Cabot; grandparents, Lorena and C.D. Carter of Cabot and Ruby Willis of Benton.
Funeral was Friday at Mount Tabor Community Church, with interment in Mount Tabor Cemetery. Arrangements were by Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Joe Albert Reed
Joe Albert Reed, age 70, of Conway, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002.
He was retired from the United States Air Force after serving his country in the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He was a member of the Jacksonville Razorback Club and of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Edith G. Rouse Reed of Conway; one daughter, Karol DePriest of Lonoke; four sons, Guy A. Reed, Tim Reed, and Thom Reed all of Conway, and Todd Reed of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine granddaughters, one grandson, three great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons.

Dorothy D. Corbitt
Dorothy Dawson Corbitt, 85, of Little Rock, formerly of Brinkley, died Oct. 19, 2002.
She was retired as director and teacher at Happy Place Preschool, and was active in Trinity Presbyterian Church and an elder at Brinkley Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by son, John Corbitt, of McAllen, Texas; and daughter, Carol Corbitt of St. Augustine, Fla.
Burial to be held in Concord Cemetery, Furlow, at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Little Rock.

Forrest R. “Bob” O’Neal, age 53, of Cabot died Oct. 17, 2002.
Survivors include two sons - Robert and Jeffry O’Neal of Cabot; one daughter, Tina Valentiner of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, John M. O’Neal of Clearwater, Fla.
All services were private. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.
Lennie D. Patrick
Lennie Deloris Patrick, age 88, of Conway died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002.
She was born in Cabot and retired as an LST 1 at Conway Human Development Center in Conway. She was a member of the Brumley Chapel Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Marie Jordan; two sons - Ernie Patrick and Larry Patrick - all of Conway; two sisters - Alma Looper of Little Rock, and Lois Waymack of Cabot: 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
A gathering in remembrance was held Friday at Griffin Leggett Custom Funerals and Cremations, with interment in Mayflower Cemetery.
Tommy D. Loftis
Tommy D. Loftis, age 51, of Beebe, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Joey Lyle Loftis of Alaska and Coy Dale Loftis of Beebe; one daughter, Launa Morris of West Memphis, three step-daughters, Christina, Barbara and Elizabeth, all of Beebe; his mother, Faye Loftis of Beebe; three brothers, Kenneth Cullum of Garner, Bob and Earl Loftis, both of Beebe; four sisters, Frances Talbert of North Carolina, Betty Hughes of Beebe, Lou Ellen Lemmons of Lonoke and Shelby Gray of Ward; eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday with family receiving visitors 6 to 8 p.m. at Westbrook Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Beebe Church of Christ, with burial in Sylvania Cemetery.
