Ben I. Becker

Ben I. Becker, 89, of Helena, died Saturday in Cabot.
He was a retired insurance agent, member of American Legion.
He is survived by a son, Ken Becker of Cabot; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons.

Graveside services were Monday, Maple Hill Cemetery, directed by Roller-Citizens.

Roy K. Jeffery

Roy K. Jeffery, 47, of Cabot died Sept. 10, 2003.
Graveside service was Sept. 13 at Trinity Cemetery. Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home was in charge.

He was a graduate of West Point and retired in 1999 as a major from the U.S. Army. He was a Mason.

Survivors are hismother, Patsy Jeffery of Bono; sisters, Oneta Wilson and Karen Jeffery, both of Bono.

Memorials may be made to the M.A.D.D. or St. Bernard’s Hospital.

Pauline McVay Roza

Pauline McVay Roza of Cabot died April 26, 2003, at the age of 79.
She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by three children, Judith Mae Sample, Linda Ruth Chandler and Michael McVay; sisters, Margaret Newby, Mary Allison, and Delois Mantooth; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be in her honor at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home with burial at a later date at Edgewood Memorial Park.

Memorials can be made to the Arkansas Hospice at 2200 Fort Roots, North Little Rock, Ark., 72217.

Ealnor Jackson

Ealnor Jackson, 70, of Austin, passed away Sunday, April 27. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Matilda Wooldrige, two brothers, one sister and one daughter.

She is survived by four sons, Ricky, John, Rex and Robert Latourrette; two daughters, Marsha Parish and Tosha Hannah; one brother, Jimmy Wooldrige; three sisters, Corrina Backus, Lucille Williams and Willie Gene Branch; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be graveside at Beebe City Cemetery on Saturday at 10 a.m. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 p.m. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.

Herbert Lee Jones

Herbert Lee Jones, 65, of Little Rock, died Saturday, April 19, 2003.
He was born in Lonoke County, and retired from the Little Rock Airport.

A gathering in remembrance of him was held April 29, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, with burial at Forest Hills Memorial Park.

Daine O. Bennett Sr.

Daine O’Neil Bennett Sr., age 79, of Lonoke passed away Friday, April 25, 2003.

He was born Nov. 29, 1923, to Gertrude and J.O. “Pete” Bennett. He graduated from Lonoke High School and served as a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. After attending the University of Arkansas, he returned to Lonoke and began a lifelong farming career with his father and brother, forming J.O. Bennett and Sons. In 1949 he married the former Marthann Fletcher, also of Lonoke.

Since 1955, Mr. Bennett has been a member of the board of directors of First State Bank of Lonoke. He served as vice president and president of First State Bank and chairman of the board of directors of First State Bank and Lonoke Banc Shares.
He was vice president of J.O. Benett and Sons. He was also a member of Arkansas Rice Growers’ Association, Arkansas Seed Dealers Association, Arkansas Seed Growers’ Association, Arkansas Soybean Association, Farm Bureau, board of Arkansas Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 200, Realtors Association, 50+ year member of Lonoke Masonic Lodge #51 and the Lonoke Industrial Development Commission. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Lonoke, where he served on the board of stewards.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 54 years; his children, Beverly and Doug Walker, Daina and Kevin Newcomb and Neil and Caroline Bennett; his grandchildren, Charlotte, Caroline and David Walker, Brodie and Neil Newcomb, and Daine, Natalie and Fletcher Bennett; and a brother, Wayne Bennett.

A memorial service was held at 1:30 p.m., April 28, at First United Methodist Church at Lonoke.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Center at Pine, Lonoke, 72086, or to the Lonoke Scholarship Foundation, 802 S. Center St., Lonoke, 72086.

Linda Laura Anderson

Linda Laura Anderson, 53, of Jacksonville died Tuesday, April 22, 2003.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy Anderson; daughters, Laura Jones of Cabot, Heather Anson of Sherwood and Jennifer Anderson of Jacksonville; sisters, Alice Mast and Amy McLaughlin, both of Ohio; three grandchildren; adopted brother and sister, Larry and Dee Dee Hibbs of Jacksonville.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorials may be made in memory of Linda to The Autism Society of America, 7910 Woodmont Ave., Suite 300, Bethesda, Maryland 20814-3067.

Mabel Irene Moran

Mabel Irene Moran, age 84, died April 21, 2003.

She was a member of Union Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Moran Sr. of Scott: two sons, Wilber Moran of Plumerville and Bill Moran Jr. of Dennard; four daughters, Annabelle Crain of Witter, Betty Moran of Plumerville, Eleanor Johnson of Scott and Mildred Lannom of Carlisle; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday at Toltec Baptist Church with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Lonnie Williams Jr.

Lonnie Williams Jr. of Hazen died April 13, 2003.
He served as a police officer for several years.

Survivors include daughters, Sonya, Lonny and Barbara; 10 grandchildren; one brother; and two sisters.

Graveside services were Friday at Shady Grove Cemetery, Clarendon, by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Pearl C. Helms

Pearl C. Helms, 81, of Little Rock, formerly of Almyra, died Friday, April 25, 2003.

She was a Methodist.

Survivors are sons, Mike Helms of Little Rock and Martin F. Helms Jr. of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Sherry Black of Humphrey; brothers, Paul Crouch of Independence, Mo., and James Crouch of Ashdown; a sister, Hazel Crouch of Des Arc; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart. Memorials may be made to CARTI in Little Rock.

Beryl Lisenby Miles

Beryl (Jerry) Lisenby Miles, 88, of North Little Rock, died April 19, 2003. She was born at Carlisle. She was a Baptist and taught 10-year old boys in vacation bible school for years.

Survivors are one son, Walter J. (Buddy) Miles; one daughter, Linda Sue Lewis, both of North Little Rock; four grandsons, two great-granddaughters, four great-grandsons.

Funeral was April 22 at Faith Baptist Church, North Little Rock, with burial at Edgewood Memorial Cemetery, North Little Rock. Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist building fund of Baptist Hospice.
