Michael A. Mitchell

Michael Allen Mitchell, 52, of Cabot died Jan. 1, 2004.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and recipient of two Purple Heart Medals, the National Defense Service Medal and many other Army commendations. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Little Rock.

Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Foster of England; his parents, Herbert and Mary Jo Mitchell of Jacksonville; three sisters, Jo Dana Wood of Jacksonville, Gina Hinkson of Cabot, Cheryl Head of Conway; and one brother, Steve Mitchell of Jacksonville.

Funeral services were Jan. 5, at Griffin-Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, North Little Rock, with interment at Sumner Cemetery.

Jesse Dee Lindsey

Jesse Dee Lindsey, age 83, died Dec. 31, 2003.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Flanary Lindsey; three daughters, Sharon Sullivan of Cabot, Deborah Milatz of Oregon, and Linda Maxwell of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, George Lindsey; sisters, Mickey Duffel, Mamie Thompson, Beulah Staggenbort and Essie Norton, all of Missouri; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Jan. 6, at Concord United Methodist Church with arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.

Memorials may be made to Concord United Methodist Church.

Charles L. Alexander

Charles Lindbergh Alexander, 75, of Little Rock died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004.
He was a 2nd Lieutenant during the Korean conflict. He retired after 35 years from Bayer Corporation in 1994, and he had been the builder of many custom homes in the Little Rock area the past 34 years.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Neva Westfall Alexander; and children, Valerie Perry of Springdale, Denise Tenney of Cabot and Angela Byrd of Conway; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers, James G. Alexander of Coffeyville, Kan., Robert Alexander of Deming, N.M., Bill Alexander of Stockton, Calif., Don Alexander of San Francisco, Calif., Dr. Byron Alexander of Manhattan, Kan.; and his sister, Opal Alexander of De Queen.
Funeral services were Jan. 6, in the Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Carney Cemetery in Carney, Okla.

Donations may be made to the Daret Alexander Memorial Fund, Regions Bank, West Branch, 10120 Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Ark. The fund furnishes gifts for needy children.

James A. Harwood

James Allen Harwood, age 76, of Jacksonville died Jan. 2, 2004.
He was retired with the United States Army with 23 years of service.

Survivors include five children, Michael Harwood of Vilonia; Jamie Harwood, Morgan Harwood, both of Jacksonville; Martha Green of Memphis, Tenn., and Kathy Shirley of Cabot; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Jan. 7, in the chapel of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home, with burial in National Cemetery in Little Rock.

Karen McDonald

Karen “Faye” McDonald, 46, of Indiana, formerly of Lonoke, died Dec. 16, 2003.

Survivors are her father, Joe Lee McDonald of Indiana; a son, Marcus Washington of Indiana; a daughter, Teresita Byrum of North Carolina; brothers, Joe Lee McDonald Jr. of California and Manzell and Steve McDonald of Indiana; and four grandchildren.

Funeral was Dec. 19, with burial in Oakgrove Cemetery, North Webster, Indiana.

Richard L. Eckhart

Richard Lynn Eckhart of Heber Springs died Dec. 22, 2003.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, and was an attorney. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Heber Springs.

Survivors are sons, Edward Eckhart of Plano and Larry Eckhart of Little Rock; a daughter, Susan Eckhart of Cabot; and six grandchildren.

A memorial celebration of his life will be held Jan. 10 at First Presbyterian Church, Heber Springs.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Heber Springs.

William “Joe” Goode

William J. “Joe” Goode, age 65, of Cabot, passed away January 10, 2004. He was born on January 2, 1939 in Clementsville, KY to the late Henry and Bonnie Goode.

Also preceded in death by a son, Danny Goode; a grandson, Nicholas Goode; and a brother, Robert Goode.

Survived by a son Dennis Goode of Indianapolis, Indiana; a daughter: Donna Brown of Indianapolis, Indiana; two grandchildren: Kevin Peck and Jordan Goode on Indiana: Five brothers: James and Darlene Goode; Steve and Donna Goode all of Cabot; Frank and Rita Goode of Lapel, Indiana; Jerry and Teresa Goode of Ingalls, Indiana; and Ronnie Goode of Indianapolis, Indiana; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2004 with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Services were 2:00 p.m.
Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Mt. Springs Baptist Church in Cabot. Interment was at Mt. Springs
Cemetery. Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Services in Cabot 713 So. Second St. (501) 941-7888.

Mary L. Harshbarger

Mary L. Harshbarger, 76, of Cabot passed away Jan.8, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.L. “Bud” Harshbarger and parents, R.H. (Rufus) Parks and Lillian Parks. She is survived by 3 daughters, Judy Cordell, Saundra Hutchins, and Rhonda Doyle; 3 grandchildren, Jody Anthony, Cody Cordell and Cory Hutchins; 1 great-grandchild, Hannah Anthony.

Visitation wass Sunday, January 11 from 2-4 P.M. at Cabot Funeral Home. Graveside Service was Monday, January 12 at 10 a.m.. at Arkansas Memorial Gardens, Jacksonville. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

James W. McIntire

James W. McIntire, 80, of Ward passed away January 7, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Cindy McIntire; 2 sons, Jimmy Dale and Jerry Wayne McIntire; 2 brothers, Roy and Orvel McIntire; 1 sister, Viola McIntire. He is survived by his wife, Marie McIntire of the home; sons, James J. McIntire and William McIntire; daughters, Shirley Oliver and Faye Crossman; brother, Robert McIntire; sisters, Ester Long and Violet Crain; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Friday, Jan. 9 from 5-8 p.m. at Cabot Funeral Home. Graveside Services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at Old Austin Cemetery. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Dan Leon Adams

Dan Leon Adams, 65, of Austin passed away Jan. 7, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Florida Adams, and daughter, Mary Adams. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Adams of the home; son Dan L. Adams, Jr. and wife Karen of Washington, D.C.; daughter, Diana Adams Elrod and husband Doug of Denton, TX; 2 brothers, Bob Adams of Pulaski, TN and Doug Adams of Oilville, VA; 3 sisters, Edith Hogge of Achilles, VA, Dorothy Carroll and husband Bill of Kinston, NC, Ann McDonald and husband Ken of Kenosha, WI; 2 grandchildren Joshua Alexander Garland of Denton, TX and Dallas George Briggs-Adams of Washington, D.C.; and a host of very special nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 17 at 2 P.M. at the Cabot Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Medical Oncology Group, AR Cancer Research Center, 4302 W. Markham #623, LR AR 72205. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.

Jessie J. Hatton Sr.

Deacon Jessie James Hatton Sr., 61, of Lonoke died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004.
He was a member of King Solomon Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Clara J. Hatton; sons, Derrick Bryant of Lonoke, Maurice Hatton of Tulsa, Okla., and Jessie J. Hatton Jr. of Horn Lake, Miss.; daughters, Kathy A. Hatton and Rosie C. Gooden, both of Lonoke; brothers, Tom Hatton of North Little Rock, Joseph Hatton of Chicago and Curtis Hatton, all of Little Rock; sisters, Rosie Lee Hatton of England, Martha Bizzell of Little Rock, Inez Mays and Dorothy McClain, both of Lonoke and Jewell Bogard of Jacksonville.
Funeral was Saturday at King Solomon Baptist Church, with arrangements by Wilson-Calhoun Funeral Home.

Alfred B. Mashburn

Alfred Blane Mashburn, 79, of Cabot, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie Mashburn.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel.
