Mary Alice Mayer
Mary Alice Mayer, age 96, of Cabot, formerly of Memphis, died Saturday, June 26, 2004. She was a member of Cabot United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Dr. Raymond F. Mayer; one son, Bob Mayer of Ward; three daughters, Carolyn Arnold of Lakeland, Fla., Mary Gibbs of Nesbitt, Miss., and Becky Gribble of Germantown, Tenn.; one sister, Elizabeth Walther of New Orleans, La.; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Cabot United Methodist Church. Interment was Tuesday in Memorial Park, Memphis, Tenn., by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Memorials may be made to Cabot United Methodist Church, 2003 South Pine, Cabot, AR 72023.
Madie Marie Milam, age 82, of Beebe, died Friday, June 25, 2004. She was a member of Country Chapel Church.
Survivors are her son, Billy Milam of Beebe; her daughter, Irma Sarringer of Higginson; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Linnie Mae Beavers of Ward. Family received visitors at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe Sunday. Funeral was Monday, June 28, 2004, at Country Chapel Church, Sylvania, with burial in Old Austin Cemetery.
J.C. Taylor
J.C. Taylor, age 64, of Vilonia, died Saturday, June 26, 2004. He was a member of El Paso First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Johnson of Woodlawn, Rebecca Mitchell and Roxie Andrews both of Vilonia; three sons, Johnny Taylor of El Paso, Bobby Taylor and Steve Taylor both of Romance; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six sisters and two brothers.
Family received friends Sunday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral was Monday, June 28, 2004, at El Paso First Baptist Church, El Paso, with burial in Romance Cemetery.
Joe Calvin Shannon
Joe Calvin Shannon, age 95, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, June 27, 2004. He was a veteran of World War II and served in England for four years. He retired after many years as a rural postal carrier.
Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Vernie Griffin Shannon; one son, Michael Champlin and two grandchildren.
Visitation was Tuesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Westbrook Funeral Home with burial in Stoney Point Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 West 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204.
Marca Lynn H. Lee
Marca Lynn Hodges Lee, 50, a 1972 Carlisle High School graduate, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2004, at an Arlington, Texas hospital.
Marca was born, June 27, 1953, in Dallas, TX. Survivors are Shannon Lee, daughter, Michael Lee, son, both of Grand Prairie, TX; grandchildren, Michael and Samantha Lee, both of Grand Prairie, TX; parents, John and Margaret Hodges of Wilmer, AR; sister, Judith Coats of Cabot, AR; brothers, Lewis Hodges of Wilmer, AR, and John Hodges of Stuttgart, AR; and a special cousin and friend, Cheryl Stephenson of Arlington, TX.
Jerry Hodge
Jerry Hodge, age 46, of Cabot a former employee of the City of North Little Rock Street Department, died Thursday, June 24, 2004.
He was a member of The Ray Sexton Band of Ward, and a former member of The Old School Bluegrass Band, and a former Arkansas State Fiddle Champion.
He is survived by his mother, Carlene Hodge of Cabot, grandmother, Eula Mathis of Clinton; two sisters, Twala Hodge Maresh of Cabot and Rhonda Shelby of Conway; a half-sister Debbie Griggs of Nevada, Mo.
Funeral services were June 26, at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Cabot under the direction of Roller-Owens Funeral Home. Interment was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery
in Cabot.

Woody T. Johnson
Woody Thomas Johnson, age 85, of Cabot, died June 26, 2004.
In 1941 he began his coaching career in Harrisburg, spanning 30 years including coaching at Little Rock Jr. College; Rhodes College at Memphis; Furman University in South Carolina; and numerous high schools across the Southeast.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Arleeta Johnson; two sons, Tommy Johnson and Johnny Mac Johnson both of Lonoke; two daughters, Joy Patterson of Lonoke and Judy Patterson of Cabot; one brother, Thomas A. Johnson Jr. of Breckenridge, Texas; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were June 30, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Interment was at Hicks Cemetery. Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Service in Cabot.
Kenny Williams
Sgt. Kenny Williams, 55, of Little Rock died June 23, 2004.
Survivors are his wife Donna; one son, Michael Williams, and one daughter, Regina Williams, both of Cabot; one granddaughter; one stepdaughter, Shannon Edens of Little Rock; two brothers - Rodger Williams of Marion and Bobby Williams of Cherry Valley; and three sisters - Shelba Miller of Marked Tree, Shirley Wilcher of Benton, and Joann Bunn of Coldwater, Miss.
He retired from the Little Rock Police Department after 31 years of service. He served in the Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran.
Funeral services were June 28, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Arkansas State Veterans’ Cemetery
in North Little Rock.
Jewelle W. Swader
Jewelle W. Swader, 80, of Cabot died Tuesday.
Funeral services were Friday at Roller-Citizens Chapel in West Helena.
Survivors are three daughters; two sons; 10 grandchildren ; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Willis H. Chaney
Willis Harrison Chaney, 67, of England died June 23, 2004.
He was a farmer and a Methodist.
He is survived by one son, Willis Chaney II of England; one daughter, Teri Carpenter of Junction City; two brothers, Don Chaney of England and David Chaney of Lonoke; one sister, Carolyn Clements of Little Rock; and five grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at Mulberry Cemetery
Chapel with burial in Mulberry Cemetery.
