James C. Dillehay
James C. Dillehay, 84, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, July 29, 2004.

He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and worked for Deaters Truck in North Little Rock where he retired.

He is survived by his son, Jerry W. Dillehay, of North Little Rock; daughter, Judy Stillman, of Jacksonville; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Jack W. Dillehay, of Jacksonville and Lee “Doc” Dillehay, of Cabot.

Funeral service was Monday at Harmony Baptist Church. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery. North Little Rock Funeral Home was in charge.

Ella Scott Lackie
Ella Scott Lackie, 90, formerly of Lonoke, died July 31, 2004.

She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Bradford.
Survivors include sons, Charles Lackie, North Little Rock, and Curtis Lackie, Jefferson City, Mo.; daughter, Floretta Phillips, Bradford; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday, Boyd Chapel, with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Maycel Zaner Woodall

Maycel Zaner Woodall, age 80, of Cabot, Arkansas passed away on August 17, 2004. A beloved Mother and Grandmother, Maycel is survived by four children; Aubrey Gerald Zaner of Jacksonville, Florida; Sherry Zaner Purdy of Forest, Virginia; Leticia Lynn Ginn of Jacksonville, Florida and Carole Ellen Woodall of Cotati, California; two sisters, Vanita Hill of Beebe, Arkansas and Betty Higginbotham of Ward, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her two husbands, Aubrey Bailey Zaner and James F. Woodall and one son, Gordan Bailey Zaner.

Maycel Woodall was a well loved member of her community and touched the lives of all who knew her. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Cabot and was well known for her acts of selfless service and love.
Friends and family will be received Friday, August 20th at Cabot Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Cabot on Saturday, August 21 at 2 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

William Arvil Nipper

William Arvil “Ted” Nipper, 89, of Beebe, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004. A lifelong member of the Methodist Church who served his country in Europe during World War II. He w as an educator and maintained a small family farm.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice Anderson-Nipper of Beebe; daughter Sharon Lynch of Beebe; and son Will Nipper of Conway; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter.

Visitation as Saturday. Funeral was Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

Richard D. Carpenter

Richard Dean Carpenter, Sr., age 51, of Cabot, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004. He was a construction worker, Army veteran and member of Cabot First Baptist Church. He graduated from Cabot High School, Arkansas State University and University of Central Arkansas in Conway.

Survivors are three sons, Richard Allen Carpenter, II of Hazen, Cortney Dean Carpenter of Little Rock and Richard Dean Carpenter, Jr. of Cabot; one daughter, Tiffiny Ashcraft of Beebe; his parents, Dr. Richard Carpenter and Eldean Screeton Carpenter of McRae; three brothers, Terry Wayne Carpenter of Fayetteville, David Byron Carpenter of Sherwood and Allen Fitzgerald Carpenter of Bangkok, Thailand; one sister, Elizebeth Ann Carpenter of North Little Rock; one grandchild.

Family received friends Friday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral was Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Westbrook Funeral Home with burial in Sylvania Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204.

Billy Joe Stivers

Billy Joe Stivers, 66, of England died Aug. 19, 2004.
He was born April 27, 1938, at Bald Knob to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Harrison “Bill” Stivers of Lonoke.

Survivors include his children, William (Carrie) Stivers, Tim (Traci) Stivers and Shirley (Dennis Reed) Stivers all of England, Dan (Terra) Stivers of Benton and Becky Burrier of North Little Rock; six grandchildren, Justin, Dylan, Tyler Stivers and DJ Reed all of England, Nikki Burrier of North Little Rock and Jacob Stivers of Benton; brothers, Alvin, Buddy (Judy), Fred (Rhonda); sisters, JoAnne (Raymond), Eve (Raymond) and Dulcina (David).

Funeral service was Saturday, Aug. 21, at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel, Lonoke with interment in Brownsville Cemetery.

Noble A. Heffington

Noble Andrew Heffington, 87, of North Little Rock, died Aug. 21, 2004.
He worked for the City of Little Rock Sanitation Department for many years, retiring as a supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Clarice Cathey Heffington; a son, Larry Heffington of Temple, Texas; daughters, Angela Angell of Cabot, and Patricia Hodge of Little Rock; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Tate, of Little Rock.

Memorial services were Aug. 25, at the funeral home and burial was in Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Syble Nerene Larkan

Syble Nerene Larkan, 79, of De Valls Bluff died Aug. 21, 2004.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hazen.

She is survived by her son, Jackie Eugene Larkan, Cabot; two brothers, Randal Odom of Cabot and Bill Odom of Lonoke; one sister, Shelby Odom of Sheridan; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 25, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Hazen. Interment was in the Lonoke Cemetery. Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen was in charge.

Jo Ann Abbott Murphy

Jo Ann Abbott Murphy, 65, of Ward, died Aug. 18, 2004.
She was retired from Wal-Mart.

Survivors are her sons, Leon Murphy of Cabot, Steve Murphy of North Little Rock; daughter, Donna Westmoreland of Bryant; five grandchildren; and a sister, Reba Abbott of North Little Rock.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Carti of Arkansas or Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Funeral services were Saturday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Sumner Cemetery.

James Franklin Davis

James Franklin Davis, 83, of North Little Rock, died Aug. 21, 2004.

He was an Army veteran serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was also a co-founder of Liberty Fellowship Church in North Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jessie Mae Davis of North Little Rock; sons, Larry Davis of North Little Rock, James Allen Davis of Mt. Pine, Charles Michael Davis of Furlow, James Franklin Davis Jr. of North Little Rock, David N. Evans of Des Arc; daughters, Vicki Norman of North Little Rock, Deborah Thomas of Cabot, Laura Dussex of Cabot; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Huson Funeral Home Chapel, Sherwood, with burial in Grizzard Cemetery in El Paso.

Laura Hazel McCord

Laura Hazel McCord, 90, of North Little Rock, died Aug. 21, 2004.
She was a longtime member of Rose City Church of Christ.

Survivors are a son, Col. (Retired) Jerry Bowers of North Little Rock; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 24, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel, North Little Rock. Interment was at Edgewood Memorial Park, North Little Rock.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent Perinatal Bereavement Fund (honoring Hazel McCord, great-grandmother of Madeline Grace Lee), 6101 St. Vincent Circle, Little Rock, Ark., 72205-5499 ; or to the Pulaski County Humane Society, P.O. Box 251156, Little Rock, Ark., 72225.

Sue Kirkland

Sue Kirkland, 68, of Judsonia, formerly of El Paso, died Aug. 21, 2004.
Sue is survived by Bobby (Hap) Kirkland and JoAnn, El Paso; DeeAnn Brown, El Paso; Debbie Heck Graham and Danny, Judsonia; Melinda Lachowsky-McHam and Frank, Conway; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Billie Jean Bennett Edge of Lonoke.

She worked many years at Mel-Hart Boat Company, and at Caring Hands Child Care.

Funeral services were Aug. 24, at Oak Church of Christ, El Paso. Powell Funeral Home of Searcy was in charge.

James David Taylor

James David Taylor, age 44, died Aug. 19, 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Taylor; daughters, Faye Taylor, Jacksonville, Rebecca Taylor and Cindy Taylor, Cabot; four grandchildren; father and stepmother, Dub and Patsy Taylor, Cabot; his mother, Nancy Romine of Jacksonville; brother, William Taylor, Jr., sisters, Rena Hightower and Amanda Midkiff; step-brothers, Lloyd and Dwayne Taylor; and his grandmother, Lois Taylor, all of Cabot.

Funeral was Sunday at Russell Chapel Nazarene Church with interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.
