Irwin Walden, Cabot, 53, died Saturday, May 14.
Survivors: parents, Marvin and Mary Walden; daughter, Tammy Kellim; one granddaughter; sister, Darla Burdin of Paragould; brother, Bill Walden; sisters, Mary Ann Kiefer, Cabot, Katie Lewis, Dallas.

Graveside service was Tuesday at Greene County Memorial Garden. Memorials to Walden Family, 407 Taylor, Paragould, Ark. 72450, medical/funeral expenses.

Diane E. Calva
Diane E. Calva, died May 13, 2005.
She was a member of Trinity Chapel Church of Carlisle.

She is survived by her son, Tim Calva of Carlisle; mother, Edna Calva of Lonoke; three brothers, Dennis Calva of Carlisle, David Calva of Cabot and Barry Calva of Lonoke; and two grandchildren.

Memorial was Monday at Gateway Fellowship Church, Lonoke.

Jack Lee Dempsey
Jack Lee Dempsey, 52, of Little Rock died May 9, 2005.
He is survived by his brothers, Lawrence Owen Dempsey of Cabot and Patrick Allen Dempsey of Little Rock.

He was a lifelong union member of the IBEW 295.
A memorial service was held at at Huson Funeral Home Chapel, Sherwood.

Alford Troy McVay
Alford Troy McVay, age 62, died May 24, 2005. He is at peace after bravely struggling for so long. His love will endure with his legacy of family and friends. He was a member of Palm Street Church of Christ, Lonoke.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Harvey Eugene and Mildred Jennings McVay. Survivors include one son, Jason McVay of Lonoke; a daughter, Tonya McVay of Dallas, Texas; brothers and sisters, Margaret Boyd and husband Virgil of Lonoke, Herbert McVay and wife Eileen of Malvern, Violet Sexton of Austin, James McVay and wife Marilyn of Florida, Bobby McVay and wife Virgene of Illinois and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, 3:30 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. The family will receive friends Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Delbert Flory
Delbert Flory, 74, of Cabot, died Monday, May 23, 2005. He was a retired supervisor in the meat department for Sexton Foods. Mr. Flory enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Frances; one daughter, Deborah Wooten of Cabot; two sons, Dwight Flory of Austin, and Phillip Flory of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Winfred “Buddy” Flory of Cabot; two sisters, Lorine Arey of Benton and Catherine High of Little Rock.

Visitation begins at noon Wednesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Cabot, with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Minnie Louise Mackey
Minnie Louise Mackey, 78, died May 23, 2005.
Survivors include sons, Jimmy Mackey and Terry Mackey, Carlisle and Dale Mackey, Lonoke; brother, Clarence Ward of Des Arc; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Old Carlisle Cemetery; arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. Visitation, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Donald M. Burt
Donald M. Burt, 71, of Jacksonville, died May 16, 2005.
He lived in the Jacksonville area for 35 years and attended the Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., Jacksonville Post #4548.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rose Mary (Gregory) Burt; daughter, Donna Majeske of Jacksonville; son, Charles Riggan of Ward; sister, Frances DeForge of Nebraska, and Charles Burt of California; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Thurs., May 19, at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.

Carol Franklin Young
Carol Franklin Young, age 90, of Carlisle died May 21, 2005. He was a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong farmer. He played semi-pro baseball for many years, and was chosen to play for the St. Louis Cardinals during the 1940s, but family and farming took precedence. He was founder of Babe Ruth baseball in Carlisle where he coached for over 20 years. For his dedication to baseball and youth, a field was named in his honor, Carol Young field at Rockefeller Park.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty Flo Elder and Sandra Hart of Carlisle, Barbara Hamric of Hazen, Sherry Barbee of Gilmer, Texas; John Hart of Carlisle; a twin brother, Harold Young of DeWitt; a sister, Hazel Thomas of Nashville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Bobby Glover, Ray Glover, Joe Gasaway, Bob McCallie, Tommy Joe Pauschert and John Almond. Funeral services were Monday, May 23, 2005 at Carlisle First United Methodist Church with interment in Carlisle Cemetery with Boyd Funeral Home in charge.

Ray Murray
Ray Murray, age 92, died May 22, 2005. He was a World War II veteran serving in the infantry 1942-1945. He was a life member of VFW and DAV.

A member of Lonoke Baptist Church and a self-employed timberman.
Survivor is his wife of 59 years, Thelma Murray.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 24, at Boyd Chapel with interment in Lonoke Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Boyd Funeral Home.

Rudy John Petrus
Rudy John Petrus, age 70, of Hazen died May 14, 2005. A son of the late John Petrus and Matilda Duch Petrus, he was born on November 29, 1934. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Carlisle and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a former president of the Carlisle Jaycees. He was a member of the U.S. Army and Army Reserves.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Petrus, brothers John R. Petrus, Vince Petrus, Francis Petrus and Leonard Petrus.
Rudy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jackie Rouse Petrus; one son, Gary Petrus; two daughters, Kim Petrus Rogers and Tori Petrus Eads; sons-in-law, Rusty Rogers and John Eads; grandchildren, Gavin Rogers and Lauren Eads; and one sister, Sister Mary Maurelia Petrus, R.S.M.
The rosary service was held on Monday, May 16, 2005 and the funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Carlisle.

Memorial may be made to the Arkansas Cancer Research Center Foundation in Little Rock or the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Foundation in Houston.

Lloyd Darnall
Lloyd Darnall, 86, of Lonoke, died May 16, 2005.
He was a member of Greenwood Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held May 19 at Greenwood Missionary Baptist, with interment in the Butlerville Cemetery.

Joe Michael Jones
Joe Michael Jones, 49, formerly of Arkadelphia, died May 13, 2005.
Survivors include his son, Jacob Allan Jones of Arkadelphia; mother Polly Bragg of Bryant; brother, Gerald Don Jones of Long Beach, CA; three step-brothers, Billy Bragg of Tyler, TX, Rick Bragg of Carlisle, and Joey Bragg of Benton; step-sisters, Elaine Bragg and Dorothy Golden, both of Waldo, Marilyn Bragg of Seale, AL, Rosalie Little of Bryant, Jodie Lester of Benton, Susan Crowson of Monticello, and Carol Shepherd of Malvern; and grandmother, Emma Dodson of Caddo Valley.

Funeral services were held May 15 at Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel. Interment was in Caddo Valley Cemetery.

Norvell Johns
Norvell Johns, 86, of Cabot, died May 16, 2005.
Graveside services were held May 19 at Crittenden Memorial Park.

Leonard Ratican III
Leonard Michael Ratican III, 43, of Cabot died May 13, 2005.
Graveside services were held May 19, at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.

Frances Emily Tipton
Frances Emily Tipton, 94, of Carlisle died May 16, 2005.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Lerch of New Brunswick, Canada.

Services were held May 20 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Carlisle, with interment at Hamilton Cemetery.

Memorial donations may go to Alzheimer’s Association of Arkansas.

Ira Gene Carothers
Ira Gene Carothers, 78, of England, died May 18, 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Carothers of England; sons, Joe Carothers of Atlanta, GA, Robert, John, Jerry and Dale Carothers all of England, James Carothers of North Little Rock, and Francis Carothers of Lonoke; daughters, Pamela White of Conway, and Susan Spires of Cabot; sisters, Ora and Bertice; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was a Baptist, a “shade tree” mechanic.
Funeral services were held May 22, at Roller-England Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
