C.W. James

C.W. James, 71, of Fresno, CA, died Aug. 17, 2005.
Local survivors include sisters, Pearl Pearce, Mary Metzger, and Jo Reiathbaum, of Conway, Martha Whitlock of Cabot, and Dean Ellis of Little Rock.

Funeral services and burial will be held in Fresno. A memorial service was held Aug. 21 at the Conway United Pentecostal Church. Local arrangements were by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.

Barbara A. McArthur

Barbara Ann Orr McArthur, 63, of Sherwood, died Aug. 19, 2005.
She is survived her sons, Tim Simpson, of Cabot, and Travis Simpson, of Columbia, NC; Stepson James McArthur of North Little Rock; stepdaughter, Deborah Henderson, of Birmingham, AL; sister, Opal Daffron of Piggott; brothers, Kenneth Orr of Gulf Port, MS, Jerry Orr of Bentonville; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Sylvan Hills Community Church, 8019 Hwy. 107, Sherwood, Ark. 72120.

Funeral services were held Aug. 22 at Sylvan Hills Community Church. Entombment followed at Rest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills.

Robert E. Dougan

Robert Eugene Dougan, 82, of Mayflower, died Aug. 18, 2005. He was the former owner of Dougan Asphalt; and a Navy Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his children, Deborah Bond of Dover, David Dougan of Ozone, Doug Dougan of North Little Rock, and Joe Dougan of Cabot; sister, Helen Lucas of Overland Park, KS; brother, Milburn Dougan of Little Rock; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug. 22, 2005 at the Chapel of Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home in North Little Rock. Burial followed in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Jacksonville. Memorials may be made to Hospice Home Care, 2200 South Bowman Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72211.

Rachel E. Jones

Rachel E. Jones, 80, of Lonoke, died Monday, August 22, 2005. She was a Baptist and was retired from the State of Arkansas as a case worker for Social Services.

She is survived by one brother, the Reverend Kelly Jones of Beebe.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Thursday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at New Hope Cemetery, Carlisle.

Elizabeth O. Sartain

Elizabeth Minnie Osterloh Sartain, age 95, died Aug. 22, 2005 at the home of her son. She was a long-time member of First Christian Church in Little Rock and retired from National Old Line Insurance Co. after 25 years of service. She played high school and independent basketball until 1945. She played with Hazel Walker for the Louis and Norwood Flyers. Their team brought the first National AAU Championship to Arkansas in 1937, and also won the Championship in 1940 and 1941. She played with the Hazel Walker Redheads softball team. She bowled for 35 years and was treasurer of the Arkansas Women’s Bowling Association for 25 years. She was known by many as “Coach Granny”.

She is survived by her son, Edwin Carl Sartain; grandson; three granddaughters; a step-daughter, Wilma Ruth Sartain Post, five granchildren, and seven great-grandchildren of Houston, TX; a step-son, Loran Sartain, Jr., two children and three grandchildren of Dallas, TX; two brothers, Carl Osterloh of Malvern and Fritz Osterloh of McNeil, MS; three nephews, Henry Joe Osterloh of Little Rock, Steve Osterloh of Springdale, and Ricky Osterloh of Manchester, MO; and one niece, Anne Osterloh Tippett of Fort Worth.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock, AR (501) 661-9111. Reverend Steve Wallace and the Rev. Dr. Steve Irby will officiate. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 West 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204.

Billy Neil Brightwell

Billy Neil Brightwell, 67, died Aug. 30, 2005. Billy was the owner and operator of Brightwell Family Foods in Lonoke for many years. He was involved in many community activities and projects. In the mid-eighties he was selected as man of the year for Lonoke. He also was chosen for an Arkansas Community Service award. A son, Tim; and his parents, Dewey and Daphna Brightwell, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Brightwell, one son, Danny Brightwell; a granddaughter, Jennifer Brightwell, all of Lonoke; and his sister, Leota Kimbrough of Colombia, Tennessee.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005 at Lonoke Baptist Church with interment in Brownsville Cemetery. Visitation, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.

Memorials may be made to Lonoke Baptist Church Building Fund.
Larry W. Sims

Larry W. Sims, 63, of Ward, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 25, 2005. He was a 1959 graduate of Cabot High School and graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in agriculture. He was a field inspector for the Arkansas State Plant Board for over thirty-eight years, a member of the Austin Station Baptist Church, a founding member of the Grand Prairie Water Users Association, a founding member of the Cabot FFA Scholarship Advisory Board, and a United States Air Force Veteran.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Marchia Sims; two sons, Lance Sims and wife Tonya of Beebe and Dustin Sims of Ward; his two precious grandchildren, Payton and Brady Sims of Beebe; his mother, Syble Sims of Austin; a sister, Mary Jo Smith and husband, Sid of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends and acquaintances.

Family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2005, at Union Valley Baptist Church, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Larry Sims Agricultural Scholarship, ASU-BB, Office of Advancement, P.O. Box 1000, Beebe, AR 72012 or the building fund at Union Valley Baptist Church, 932 Hwy. 64 W., Beebe, AR 72012.

Elizabeth Lindsley

Elizabeth Lindsley, 80, of Carlisle died Aug. 24, 2005.
She is survived by two sons, Art Clendening and Joseph Clendening; one daughter, Gayle Clendening; three brothers, Willard Surrett, Ronnie Surrett and Farris Surrett; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005 at Hamilton Baptist Church, on Hamilton Loop, arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.

Robert Gordon Moon

Robert Gordon Moon, age 68, of Odessa, Texas, formerly of Little Rock, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005 at Hospice House.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.

Survivors include his wife Wanda Moon of Odessa; son Robert Moon, Jr. of Farmington, NM; daughter Toye Raper of Cabot; brother Ronnie Moon of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Graveside services were Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery in North Little Rock. Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Service.

John David George

John David George, age 31 of Cabot, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Krystal Dean George; his son Jessie Dean George; his mother and father; five sisters, Vickey Lockhart of Tennessee, Betty Davis, Sheri Lisko, Debbie Glass and Shelly Rose all of Oklahoma.

Funeral was Saturday, Aug.st 27, 2005, at The Worship Center, Hwy 89, Cabot with burial in Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander, bu Westbrook Funeral Home.

Russell Jack Dorsey

Russell Jack Dorsey, 73, of Jacksonville, died Aug. 22, 2005.
He served in the United States Air Force and retired after 21 years of service.
Survivors include his wife Judy Dorsey of Jacksonville; sons, Russell, Jr., and Douglas Dorsey both of Cabot; daughters, Faith Bryant of Mt. Home, Frances Fair Dorsey of Harrison and Felicia Dorsey of Memphis; brothers; John, Jim, Jerry, Blue and Jody Dorsey; sisters, Jean Perkins and Judy Boyd; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were Fri., Aug. 26 at the Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel.

Rachel E. Jones

Rachel E. Jones, 80, of Lonoke, died Aug. 22, 2005. She was a Baptist and was retired from the State of Arkansas as a case worker for Social Services.
She is survived by her brother, Rev. Kelly Jones of Beebe.

Graveside service was held Aug. 26 at New Hope Cemetery in Carlisle.

Andrew Hart

Andrew “Uncle Bob” Hart, 62, of North Little Rock, died Aug. 23, 2005.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bernice Hart; daughters, Teralyn Dunning of Jacksonville, Veronica Hart of Gravel Ridge, and Cortney Lemay of North Little Rock; brothers, Curtis Hart of Lonoke, Otis Hart and Eddie Hart of Denver, CO, and John Hart of North Little Rock; sisters, Vernia Moss of Phoenix, AZ, Algrine Norris of Indianapolis, IN, and Delois Hines of North Little Rock; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Mon., Aug. 29, at McAlmont Church of Christ in North Little Rock.

Services were entrusted to Premier Funeral Home in Little Rock.

Leslie Howard Reed

Leslie Howard Reed, 86, of North Little Rock, died Aug. 23, 2005. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and a retired taxi driver in Little Rock.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Corine Reed; son, Charles Reed of Cabot; daughter, Frances Reed of Cabot; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Aug. 26 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Rose City with interment in the Rest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements were by the Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood.
