Dr. Larry Mahon

Dr. Larry Mahon, 69, of Jonesboro, died Aug. 22, 2005.
He was an orthopedic surgeon in Jonesboro from 1970 to 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Mahon; sons, Jeffrey of Dallas, and Vince of Cabot; daughters, Paula, Joni and Mia, all of Jonesboro; one brother; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Service and burial were private. Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret D. Pearson

Margaret D. Pearson, 80, of Jacksonville, died Aug. 24, 2005.
She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her sisters, Clara B. Dodson and Shirley Maples both of Lonoke; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were on Aug. 27 at the Arkansas Memorial Gardens.

Eileen M. Byler

Eileen M. Byler, 33, of Cabot, died Aug. 24, 2005.
A service of remembrance was held Aug. 27 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the First Arkansas Bank in the name of her daughter, Lynsey Sue Ward Donation Fund.

Luther Grandelson, Jr.

Luther Grandelson, Jr., 82, of Pine Bluff, died Aug. 24, 2005. He was a World War II veteran and a member and deacon at South Side Baptist Church for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Louise Tucker Granderson; daughter, Rebecca Granderson Divine of Pine Bluff; sons, Terry of Little Rock, Randy of Cabot and Phillip of Dallas, TX; brothers, Robert of Modesto, CA, Charles of Pine Bluff, Bill of Japan, Irving of Rogers, and Raymond Granderson of Lavaca; sister, Elizabeth Croom of Jonesboro; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Aug. 27 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to South Side Baptist Church, 2301 Poplar St., Pine Bluff, AR 71601 or Trinity Village Medical Center, 6400 Trinity Drive, Pine Bluff, AR 71603.

Imo L. Hindman

Imo Lunsford Hindman, 87, of Des Arc, died Aug. 26, 2005.
She worked at Frolic Footwear many years before her employment with Arkansas State University. After retiring from Arkansas State University in 1991, she moved to Des Arc. She was a member of University Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

She is survived by her sons, Donald Hindman of Sherwood and Ronnie Hindman of Cabot; daughter, Janice Huffstickler of Des Arc; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and twin sister, Inez McDaniel, Lakeport, CA.

Arrangements were by Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Funeral Services were held Aug. 29 with burial following at the Pine Log Cemetery.

Isaac J. Morgan

Isaac J. Morgan, 77, of Lonoke, died on Aug. 25, 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Benetta Morgan; sons, Dennis, Dale and Wesley Morgan; brothers, James, Daniel and William Morgan; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke. At family’s request no public service will be held. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice.

Wilma Faye Grober

Wilma Faye Grober, 62, of Conway, died Aug. 25, 2005.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jerry Ned Grober; daughters, Verna Jean Waddell of Cabot and Nedra Faye Davidson of Ash Grove, MO; five grandchildren; mother, Leavern Hope of Ft. Smith; and brother, John W. Anderson of Ft. Smith.

Funeral services were held Aug. 30 at the Roller McNutt Funeral Home with burial in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.

Charles L. Raymond

Charles L. Raymond, 77, of El Dorado, died Aug. 25, 2005.
He served in the U.S. Army. He began a second career with the U.S. Postal Service in Newport that lasted from 1972-1989. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newport.

He is survived by his sisters, Nellie Louise Campbell of Sherwood, and Peggy M. Olsen of El Dorado; brother, Billy Joe Raymond of Newport; son, Theodor Kempter of Newport; one step-granddaughter, Dawn Michelle Black of Cabot; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Aug. 29 at the Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Newport, the Newport Cub Scout Program or the Newport Little League/Baseball Programs.

Carl M. Hill

Carl M. Hill, 69, of Lonoke, Aug. 26, 2005.
He spent his life working in education, first as a teacher and coach at Des Arc, Harmony Grove and Bauxite and then as an administrator with the Pulaski County Special School District for 38 years. He was a longtime member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gail Myers Hill; daughters, Angel Hill and Brenda Smith of Houston, TX; sons, Eddie of Lonoke, Patrick of North Little Rock; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug. 30 at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke with interment in the Lonoke Cemetery.

Fred Harper, Jr.

Fred Harper, Jr., 75, of White Hall, died Aug. 27, 2005.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. An educator, he retired in 1986 after 29 years with the White Hall School District as a teacher and Director of Transportation and Maintenance. He was a member of First Baptist Church of White Hall.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Doris Jane Thomas Harper; son, Scott David Harper of Pine Bluff; daughter, Carol Lea Baldwin of Cabot; sister; Anibeth Pumphrey of Prattsville; one grandchild; and six step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Aug. 29 at the Robinson & Son Chapel in Pine Bluff.

Thurman Aaron Lewis

Thurman Aaron Lewis, 78, of Jacksonville, died Aug. 27, 2005.
He was self-employed as a building contractor. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1945-1949.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Lewis; sons, Ronnie and Garry Lewis, both of Jacksonville; a daughter, Joyce Lewis of Mokena, IL; sisters, Bernice Blasingame of Conway, Edith Simmons and Martha Perkins both of Vilonia; brother, Donald Lewis of McRae; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug. 30 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial was at the Sumner Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Baptist Hospice in Little Rock, or to your favorite charity.

Brenda C. Tubbs

Brenda Christine Tubbs, 65, of Cabot, died Aug. 27, 2005.
Survivors include her husband, William G. Tubbs; son, David G. Tubbs; daughter, Nancy K. Woods; one grandson all of Cabot; and brother, Robert Chism of Charlotte, NC.

Services were held Aug. 30 at Gateway Fellowship Church in Lonoke, with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton, OK, on Aug. 31.

B.A. “Bill” Carter

B.A. “Bill” Carter, 79, of Pine Bluff, died Aug. 27, 2005.
He was born in Lonoke and attended White Hall schools. He served in the 1st Marine Division, 11th Marines in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of First Baptist Church of White Hall and attended Carr United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff.

Survivors include his sons, Ardell Carter of The Woodlands, TX, and Chris Carter of Conway; daughters, Phyllis Carter, Suzette Rice, and Renee Rowe of Pine Bluff; brother, Virgil Eugene Carter of Savannah, TN; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug. 30 at the Ralph Robinson & Son Chapel with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials requested to the Alzheimer ‘s Association, 1 St. Vincent Circle, Little Rock, Ark. 72205.
