Poynor
Christine Poynor, 69, of Jonesboro died Friday, Oct. 19, at Craighead Nursing Center. A lifetime resident of Jonesboro, she was active in the Special Ministries of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Marie McCain of Jonesboro; four brothers, Cecil Poynor and Ralph Poynor, both of Jonesboro, Donald Poynor of Cleveland, Miss., and Bobby Poynor of El Paso, Texas.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home with Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Noble Cemetery
near Brookland.
Active pallbearers will include Bobby Poynor, Cecil Poynor, Don Poynor, Jonathan Poynor, Shane Faulkner and Bobby Andrews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Lasting memorials may be made to the Special Ministries of Central Baptist Church.
Rose
LITTLE ROCK -- John Walter Rose Sr., 66, of Little Rock died at his home Friday, Oct. 19. Born at Ripley, Tenn., he was a member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro and attended Highland Valley Methodist Church in Little Rock.
An all-sport athlete in Ripley, he attended Union University on a combination football/basketball scholarship and was the recipient of the Fred Delay Athletic Award in 1958, a symbol of Union University's most outstanding athlete over a four-year period.
Rose began his coaching career after signing a professional baseball contract with the Detroit Tigers organization. He was named that team's player-manager and became the youngest manager in professional baseball. He returned to Union and earned his degree before becoming Union's basketball assistant and head track coach where he was named "Coach of the Year" three times. He accepted the head track and assistant basketball job at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro in 1963. He took over as head basketball coach in 1969 and his teams won two conference championships. He was named "Coach of the Year" in track and basketball at ASU. Rose became assistant athletic director in 1976 and was named to the Arkansas State Hall of Honor in 1985.
Rose left ASU and athletics in 1979 and joined Aetna Life and Casualty in Jonesboro as a district manager. In 1986 he became the State Marketing Manager with Aetna in Little Rock. He retired in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, John Rose and Mark Rose; three sisters, Jean Crawford, Harriet King and Linda Glover; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Valley Methodist Church in Little Rock with Dr. Kurt Boggan officiating. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ridgecrest Cemetery
in Jackson with the Rev. Jimmy Drumwright officiating. Roller-Chenal Funeral Home of Little Rock is in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will include Billy Joe Bailey, Fred Barnett, Preston Cheatham, Darrel Cunningham, Tommy Davis, Jim McDowra, Dean Pryor and Bill Templeton.
Honorary pallbearers will include Barry Akin, Ronnie Crawford, Dennis Drum-wright, Jimmy Drumwright, Britt King, Charlie King, Gary King, Dennis King, Jerry Glover and Carlton Drum-wright.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Thompson
MONETTE -- Funeral services for Mary Ann Thompson, 89, of Monette who died Friday, Oct. 19, at St. Bernard's Medical Center, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Macey Cemetery
with Bill Painter officiating. Gregg Funeral Home of Monette was in charge of arrangements.
Formerly of Smithville, she was a homemaker and of the Free Will Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, David Moore of Monette; two daughters, Deanna Mayes of Jonesboro and Lorene Moore of Paragould; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Alexander
WYNNE -- Rita Bell Alexander, 76, of 125 Sequoya, in Wynne, died Sunday, Dec. 9, at Wynwood Nursing Center in Wynne. Born in Vanndale, she was a retired shoe cutter for Addison Shoe Co. in Wynne and was a member of the Vanndale Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Michael Alexander of Mccomb Township, Mich.; three daughters, Ann Bryant Lemons of Dexter, Mo., and Debra Jean Farmer and Donna Sue Eans, both of Wynne; a brother, Genie Burnett of Vanndale; three sisters, Gertie Guthrie and Neoma Stovall, both of Wynne, and Johnnie Ruth Person of Vanndale; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Kernodle Funeral Home Chapel at Wynne Wednesday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. George Fink officiating. Burial will follow at Vanndale Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Vanndale Baptist Church.
Barnett
Sadie Mae Barnett, 82, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, Dec. 5 at St. Bernard's Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
There are no immediate survivors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Barnett.
Funeral services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Latham officiating. Burial will follow at Knights of Pythias Cemetery
in Jonesboro under the direction of Sims-Woodard Funeral Service of Marked Tree.
Bartlett
BLYTHEVILLE -- Edith J. Bartlett, 86, of Blytheville died Sunday, Dec. 9, at her residence. Born in Harrison, she was a longtime Blytheville resident and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and had been a court reporter for 39 years, covering nine courts and six counties, including Mississippi, Craighead and Clay.
Survivors include her husband, John B. Bartlett of Blytheville; two stepsons, Ron Bartlett of Fayetteville and David Bartlett of Lenoir City, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Anita Bartlett Howard of Walnut Ridge; and two stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Maude Johnson, one brother and one sister.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery
in Blytheville, with the Rev. Thad Grimstead officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville.
Booth
MOUNTAIN HOME -- Carl E. Booth, 85, of Mountain Home died Monday, Dec. 10, at Mountain Home. Born in Williford, he was a retired farmer in Caraway and held honorary Future Farmers of America degrees at the chapter and state levels. He was a board member of Drainage District No. 18, was a Mason, served on the building committee for Caraway and Mountain Home congregations and was a member of Community of Christ Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eurshel Booth of the home; a daughter, Betty Morris of Mountain Home; two brothers, Troy Booth of Caraway and Paul Booth of Independence, Mo.; a sister, Lois Finch of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Mark Morris and Shannon Brooks, both of Mountain Home, Allen Booth of Ravenden and Carolanne Sacry of Ridgecrest, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Booth, a daughter, a son, a sister, four brothers and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Wayne Pickett and Paul Booth officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Thurman Nuckles, Hershel Colbert, Fred Dowless, Johnny McCord, Harvey Edward Faulkner and Ronald Faulkner.
Honorary pallbearers will include Kermit McCord, Paul Earnhart, Vernon Dowless, Ode Ward, John Jackson, Billy Lanier and Thomas "Buddy" Lanier.

Bruce
MARKED TREE -- Arthur Lamar Bruce, 55, of Marked Tree died Monday, Dec. 10, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue Bruce of Marked Tree; three daughters, Candy Hoover of Etna Green, Ind., Cheryl Dickerson of Trumann and Amber Bruce of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister; and four grandsons.
No services have been planned, and the body will be cremated. Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree is in charge of arrangements.
Campbell
TRUMANN -- Funeral services for Ronnie Lee Campbell, 46, of Trumann who died Sunday, Dec. 9, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with the Rev. Murry Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery
at Harrisburg.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Guthrie, Earl Havens, Loyd Bloodworth, Luke Wilson, Johnny Cato and Mikel Cato.
Born at Wilson, he was formerly of Florida and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Trumann.
Survivors include his wife, Celia E. Wilson Campbell of the home; three sons, Eric Campbell, Ernest Campbell and Luke Wilson, all of Trumann; six sisters, Imogean Cato of Blytheville, Kay Brandenburg of Armorel, Diane Miller, Doris Morse and Carla Farmer, all of Portageville, Mo., and Maxine Lee of Friendship, Wis.; six brothers, Sammy Campbell of St. Genevieve, Mo., Carl Campbell and Billy Campbell, both of Rockford, Ill., Walter Campbell of Pacific, Mo., Tommy Campbell of Frostproof, Fla., and Robert Campbell of New Madrid, Mo.; and one grandson, Robert Zakarie Campbell of Trumann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Allen and Mary Lou Stout Campbell, one sister and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
