Billy Earl McCurley

Billy Earl McCurley, age 37, of Little Rock, died Jan. 3, 2006.
Survivors include sister Shelly Dillman and brother Mike McCurley.
Memorial services were Sunday, Jan. 8, 2005 at Christ Worship Center in Cabot. Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Service in Cabot.

Marguerite P. Hill

Marguerite P. Hill, 87 of Cabot died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006 at Baptist Springhill Medical Center. She attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Mrs. Hill was a bookkeeper for over 15 years with Key Systems in Cabot. She was a longtime faithful member of First Christian Church in Jacksonville where she served as organist and pianist, a member of the Eastern Star in Cabot.

She is survived by three children, Shelly Russell of Ward, Darla Wilson of Cabot, Warren Hill of Ward; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006 at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home with Brother Bill Rosnett and Reverend Lowell McCoy officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot. Memorials may be made to Show Me Christian Youth Home, P.O. Box 6, LaMonte, Mo. 65337.

Patricia L. Breese

Patricia Louise Breese, age 62, of Ward, died Jan. 6, 2006.
Survivors include her husband Clarence Breese of the home; five daughters: Melissa Yaeger of Cabot, Launa Pratt of Ward, Rebecca Breese of Georgia, Karen Specketer of Williamsburg, Ill. and Kathy Welch of Ward; Seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Ron, Richard and Virgil; and two sisters: Judy and Florence.

A Wake memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006 from 3 to 8 p.m. at # 15 Deer Run Drive in Ward. Arrangements by Thomas Funeral Service in Cabot.

James H. Branson

James H. “Jim” Branson, Jr., 51, of Cabot, died Jan. 5, 2006 in St. Louis, Mo.of Lady Lake, Florida. Jim retired from the United States Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after 23 years of service. He received his bachelor’s degree in business from ASU where he graduated Magna cum Laude. He was a member of the Air Force Association.

Survivors include his wife Jennifer Lee Vlach Branson whom he married in the “Little Bell Wedding Chapel” in Harrison; five children, Gary Branson of Cabot, Shawn Branson of St. Charles, MO, Keith Branson of Bellville, IL, Harrison Brumley of Cabot and Cody Brumley of Iberia, MO; his parents, James Branson Sr. of St/ Louis and Peggy Terry of Lady Lake, Fla.; five sisters, Deborah Branson of Fordland, Mo., Denise Thompson of Union, Mo., Elzetta Lea of Kissimmee, Fla., Elissa Brower of Lady Lake, Fla. and Elaine Butler of Fruitland Park, Fla.; three brothers, Kevin Branson of St. Peters, Mo., Terry Lea, and Jerry Lea both of Salem, Mo.; five grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, January 10, 2005 at the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery with Terry Lea officiating with Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home in charge. Donations may be made to the National Leukemia and Lymphoma Society; 1311 Mamaroneck Ave.; White Plains, NY 10605 (914) 949-5213.

Lois H. Douthit

Lois Hunnicutt Douthit, 84, of Carlisle, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Jan. 5, 2006 at Chambers Nursing Home Center in Carlisle. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a licensed beautician and a talented poet. She was trained and skilled in the making of ladies hats and a designer and dressmaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Dowdy of Carlisle; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Wayne Hunnicutt of Gravelly and Leo Hunnicutt of Danville.

Funeral services were held at Nola Church of Christ on Jan. 7, 2006 with Dan Reed officiating. Interment followed in Parks Cemetery by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors of Pine Bluff. Memorials may be made to Palm Street Church of Christ, Lonoke.

Vassie Mae Hodge

Vassie Mae (Sims) Witcher Hodge, 92, of Cabot, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006. Mrs. Hodge was a homemaker and resided at Cabot Nursing and Rehabilitation for the last years of her life. She was a member of the Assembly of God faith.

She is survived by two sons, Norman Witcher of Beebe, Estle Witcher of Coral Springs, Fla.; one daughter, Ida Mae Mason of Anniston, Ala.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Neal and Rev. Tommy LaFave officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot.

Morene Stroud

Morene Stroud, 79, of Conway died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Stroud; two sons, Jerry Stroud of Mayflower and Terry Stroud of Conway; two sisters, Betty Evans and Eathel Howard of Lonoke; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2005 at Lonoke Cemetery, arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.

George R. Anderson

George R. Anderson, 85, died Jan. 4, 2006. For over 50 years, he owned service stations and car washes throughout Little Rock.

He is survived by his wife, Jerry Anderson of Maumelle; daughters, Donna Morrow of Bauxite, Charlotte Garlington of Cabot, and Janice Morley of Maumelle; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Fri., Jan. 6, at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Arrangements were by Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth in Little Rock.

Sifford Dusty Rhodes

Sifford Dusty Rhodes, 88, of Cabot, died Jan. 3, 2006. He was a metallurgist for Georgia Pacific in Crossett for 25 years and served in the South Pacific during WWII in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church of Village and the VFW in Crossett.

Survivors are his daughter, Vicki Wright of Cabot; and sister, Maxine Shaff Phillips Buddy of Springhill, LA.

Funeral services were held Jan. 6 at the Ebenezer Methodist Church. Burial followed at the Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Hospice, 5600 West 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72204 or the Ebenezer Cemetery Association.

John B. Scherrey

John B. Scherrey, 92, of Fort Smith, died Jan. 2, 2006. He was a former employee of the Frisco Railroad, Banker Life and Casualty. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 31 years of service and was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was an Eucharistic Lay minister.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Scherrey; daughters, Mary Margaret Ron Peek of Cabot, Anna, Amelia Hamm, Lois Stutts all of Fort Smith; sons, John Charles of McAllen, TX, Tony of Fort Smith, David of Van Buren, Father Michael C.C. of Houston, TX, Joseph of Fort Smith, Stephen of Conway, and Patrick of Little Rock; stepdaughters, Cinda Rusin of Fort Smith, and Celia Martinez of Fort Smith; 33 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to The Hembree Mercy Cancer Center, 7301 Rogers Ave., Fort Smith, Arkansas 72903 or St. Boniface Catholic Church, 1820 North B Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901.

Willie Pearl Cockrell

Willie Pearl Cockrell, 76, of Little Rock, died Jan. 7, 2006.
She was born in Ward. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and a longtime resident of the Broadmoor neighborhood.

She is survived by her son, Collins Devon Cockrell, Jr. of Little Rock; daughters, Tina Diffee of North Little Rock and Alisa Flavin of Esbon, KS; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 9 at St. Luke United Methodist Church with burial following at Sixteenth Section Cemetery in Ward. Arrangements were by Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth in Little Rock.

Jocie ‘Rena’ Dulany

Jocie “Rena” Dulany, 81, died Jan. 6, 2006. She was retired from Davis Academy Child Care in Jacksonville and was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Evans of Cabot, and Terri Lute of North Little Rock; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 9 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot. Arrangements were by the North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Mattie Mae Wildmon

Mattie Mae Wildmon, 71, of North Little Rock, Jan. 6, 2006. She retired from Timex Corp., and was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, John M. Wildmon of North Little Rock; sons, Roger Wells of Alvin, TX, and Larry Wells of Pearland, TX; daughters, Julia Martin of Dardanelle, Jo Ann Carrico of Coco, FL, and Wanda Paul of North Little Rock; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, M. W. (Bill) Harrison of Augusta and J. I. Harrison of Benton, LA; and sisters, Barbara Swain of Ward and Dorothy Palmer of Kensett.

Funeral services were held Jan. 8 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe, with burial in Antioch Cemetery.

Jimmie K. Dutton

Jimmie Katherine (Hearon) Dutton, 77, of Cabot, died Jan. 8, 2006. She retired with 36 years service from the Appeals Tribunal of the Arkansas State Employment Security Division. She was a member of South Side Church of Christ in Cabot, and a former Sunday school teacher.

Survivors are her husband of 53 years, Lestal Dutton of Cabot; son, Darren Dutton of Sherwood; daughter, Melissa Tenison of Cabot; and four granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wed., Jan. 11, at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mulberry Cemetery Pavilion.

Memorials may be made to American Lung Association, 211 Natural Resources Drive, Little Rock, Ark., 72205.
