Oliver Shields, Jr.
Oliver J. Shields, Jr., 89, of North Little Rock died May 5, 2006. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 690. He owned the 101st Wild West Show originally owned by Buffalo Bill and served in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by his daughter, DeAnn Shields-Marley; son, Gary Shields, both of Little Rock; brother, Floyd Shields, of Lonoke; sisters, Ruby Hackney, and Mildred Cummings, both of North Little Rock; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 8 at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in the Brownsville Cemetery.
Lester Roy Bonner
Lester Roy Bonner, age 88, of Ward, passed away May 4, 2006. Born May 2, 1918 in Sugar Grove, Arkansas to the late Henry and Milley Bonner.
Preceded in death by wife, Opal Lee Bonner, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include daughters: Sue Davis (Frank) of Ward, Marilyn Mettler of Cabot; Nephew, Charles “Skip” Bonner, loved as a son; Brothers, Hoyt Bonner and Fred Bonner; eight grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, May 5, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services were 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Roberts Funeral Home in Booneville with interment following at Blue Mountain Cemetery. Patricia Ann Kendel
Patricia Ann Kendel, 52, of Fort Worth, TX, died April 28, 2006. She was a telephone customer service employee.
Survivors include her son, Steven W. Kendel of Little Rock; daughters, Melissa D. Brock of Ward, and Sarah E. Kendel of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren.
A private funeral was held.
Allan F. Garrett
Allan F. Garrett, 75, of North Little Rock, died May 2, 2006. He was a veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge at Sylvan Hills and El Paso.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Garrett; sons, Richard Garrett of Vilonia, Frank Garrett of Spatham, GA, Ronnie Garrett of Sherwood, Jim Garrett of Lonoke, and Ted Garrett of Zephyr Hills, FL; daughter, Susan Garrett of Tampa, FL; brothers, Dale Garrett of San Diego, CA, Edgar Garrett of House Springs, MO, and Roger Garrett of Brevard, NC; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 5 at Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood. Interment followed at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery
in North Little Rock with military honors and Masonic services.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, Inc., or Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery

Adam David Wood
Adam David Wood, 21, of Cabot, died May 7, 2006. He was a 2002 graduate of Cabot High School and attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot.
He is survived by his parents, David and Linda Wood; sister, Katie Wood, all of Cabot; partner, Jacquelyn Neary, of Cabot; grandparents, Otha and Jean Warren of Cabot and Bob and Betty Wood of North Little Rock.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Hazelden Foundation at CO3, P.O. Box 11, Center City, Minn. 55012-0011.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thurs., May 11, at Lynchview Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. James Ray Raines officiating.
Burial will be in Arkansas Memorial Gardens.

Thomas H. Brown
Thomas Harris Brown, 77, of Des Arc, died May 6, 2006. He was owner/operator of Des Arc Foods for 33 years.
Survivors include his wife, Loreta Brown; son, Tommy E. Brown of Des Arc; daughters, Roseanne Fisher of Bryant, and Elaine Moran of Austin; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Lucy Lorene Barber
Lucy Lorene Barber, 87 of Lonoke passed into a better life on May 3, 2006.She was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star in Lonoke. She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip Barber, Sr., daughter Phyllis Barber Lynch and son David Barber.
She is survived by her children Phillip Barber, Jr. and wife Bessie of Conway; Linda Barber Gorman and husband Ed of Mansfield, Louisiana; James Kenneth Barber of Lonoke and Karen Barber Mathis and husband Billy of Lonoke; brother Leroy Ensign and wife Lula Mae of Beebe; sister Marie Henderson of North Little Rock; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Patricia Ann Rogers
Patricia Ann Rogers, age 62, of Cabot, died May 4, 2006.
Survivors include five sons: William Howell, Randy Howell, Phillip Wedge, Boyd Wedge all of Ward and Nathan Wedge of Cabot; two sisters: Helen Schaub of Indianapolis, IN and Louise Yarberry of Buck Snort; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday, May 7, 2006. Services were held 2 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2006 at New Hope Nazarene Church in Little Rock with interment at Salem Cemetery

Cole Jack Avant
Cole Jack Avant, 21, of Mabelvale, died April 28, 2006.
He attended UALR.
Survivors include his parents, Terry Michael Avant of Mabelvale and Ramona Young of Perryville; sisters, Robin Vickers of Ward, Amber Becker of Bryant, Coty Pearson of Mayflower; Wanda Stone and Glenna Davis of Perryville; brother, Fred Davis III of Perryville; grandparents, Martha Elizabeth Avant of Mayflower, Lila Avant of North Little Rock and Glenn and Wanda Smith of Searcy.
A memorial service was held Sat., May 6, at the UALR Student Services Building.
W. J. “Bill” Moran
Our Lord called W.J. (Bill) Moran Sr., 88 of Dennard went home May 9, 2006. He was a rice farmer, a heavy equipment operator and he worked for Lonoke County for 27 years.
He was a Missionary Baptist and attended church at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Clinton.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Irene Moran, and his parents James and Annie Moran, four brothers, one sister and three grandchildren, Billy James Moran, Brandon Johnson and Christopher Ashline.
He is survived by two sons, Wilber Moran of Plumerville and Bill Moran Jr. of Dennard; four daughters, Annabell Crain of Witter, Betty Moran of Plumerville, Eleanor Johnson of Scott and Mildred Lannom of Carlisle; two sisters, Maysel Baxter of Livingston, Texas and Joyce Warner of Pasadena, Texas; one brother, Leroy Moran of North Little Rock; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 10 at Bishop-Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bill Moran Jr. officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery
at Oak Grove.
Ella B. Hendricks
Ella Brooke Hendricks, infant, of Austin, died May 9, 2006.
She is survived by her parents, Scotty and Tracy Hendricks of Austin; sister, Aspen Hendricks; grandparents, Ronnie and Pat Mathis of Austin, and Carolyn Smith of Hensley.
Graveside services were held May 13 at Rest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills.
Katherine Evans
Katherine Evans, age 74, died May 10, 2006.
She is survived by her children, Johnny W. Evans of England, Donald Evans of Texas, Karen Spires of North Little Rock, Marilyn King of Carlisle and Judy Gordon of Sherwood; brother and sisters, Garland Gable and Bessie Mae Barber of Conway and Jean Parnell of Lonoke; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was Saturday at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel, Lonoke with interment in Weedon Cemetery.
