Elmer G. McGowan

Elmer Glynn McGowan, 57, of Ward, died May 29, 2006.

He owned and operated McGowan and Associates Trucking for 25 years. He was also a licensed real estate broker and auctioneer.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis E. House McGowan; son, Austin McGowan of Indiana; brothers, Wayne and Paul McGowan; and sisters, Sue Merrill and Holly Laureano.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes. Association, 320 Executive Court, Suite 104, Little Rock, Ark., 72204; and the American Heart Association, 909 W. 2nd St., Little Rock, Ark., 72201.

Funeral services were held June 3 at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial was in the Old Austin Cemetery at Ward.

Ralph McQueen, Sr.

Ralph Lee McQueen, Sr., 85, of Little Rock, formerly of Dermott, died June 1, 2006.

He was a Certified Public Accountant, a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian church and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn “Chick” Allen McQueen; children, R. Lee McQueen, Jr. of West Memphis and Evelyn Ann “Lyn” McQueen Curtis of Cabot; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Dermott Presbyterian Church of Dermott, P.O. Box 188, Dermott, Arkansas 71638, Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4501 Rahling Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72223, or Baptist Hospice, 11900 Colonel Glenn Road, Suite 2000, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210-2820.

Graveside services were held June 3 at Dermott Cemetery with a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church of Dermott.

Griffin Funeral Home of Dermott was in charge of arrangements.

Bobby Russell West

U.S. Army Specialist Bobby Russell West, 23, of Beebe, was killed May 30, 2006, while serving in Iraq.

He attended Beebe High School.

He is survived by his father, Ricky West of Carlisle; mother, Linda Wiggins West of Beebe; brother, Patrick West, U.S. Army, Iraq; and grandmother, Syble West of Carlisle.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wed., June 7, at Beebe First Baptist Church, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe.

Memorials may be made to National Guard Family Assistance, 6402 Missouri Avenue, Bldg. 6402, North Little Rock, Ark., 72199.

Virtree Peeler

Virtree Peeler, 79, of Cabot, died June 3, 2006.

She was a Baptist and was retired from Remington Arms.

She is survived by her son, James Peeler of Cabot; daughters, Glenda Achten and Dianne Cathey all of Maumelle; sister, Tempie Wells of Indio, CA; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wed., June 7, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe with burial in Old Austin Cemetery.

Marigene H. Wright

Marigene Howell Wright, age 89, died June 12, 2006. She was a member of Lonoke First United Methodist Church and a retired school teacher of 28 years. Survivors include her sons, Randy Wright and wife Terrie of Lonoke and Howell Wright and wife J’Ann of Estes Park, Colo.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday, June 6 at Lonoke First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Lonoke Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. The family will receive friends Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lonoke First United Methodist Church.

Joy Lynn Schneider

Joy Lynn Pearson Schneider, age 67, of Ward, Arkansas, was born at Ward on July 26, 1938, to Edward and Hilma Pearson, and died June 16, 2006. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Joy was a member of the Ward United Methodist Church where she served many years as treasurer and served as the pianist for over forty years.

She was preceded in death by husband, John Schneider, her parents, and a brother, Thomas Pearson.

She is survived by three daughters, Pam Tims of Ward, Karen Schneider of North Little Rock, and Suzanne Baldwin and husband Richard of Beebe; six grandchildren, Casey Horn, Jodi Cook, Scott Johnson, Jonathan Schneider, Matt Baldwin and Eric Baldwin; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Thomas and Haley; a sister, Gail Wilkins of Ward; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.

The family wishes to say a special thanks to Dr. Anthony Bucola and his staff, Arkansas Hospice and Peggy Johnson RN for the excellent care they gave Joy.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Ward First United Methodist Church, by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Private burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Lonoke County Habitat For Humanity, P.O. Box 1504, Cabot, AR 72023.

Zora Johnson

Zora Johnson, 94, of Carlisle, died June 12, 2006. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughters, Lena Sue Rennie of North Little Rock and Caralee Pfeiffer of Mabelvale; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 14 at the First Baptist Church in Carlisle. Interment was in New Hope Cemetery with arrangements by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 West 12th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204.

Geneva L. Crump

Geneva L. Crump, 88, of Ward died Thursday, June 15.

She was preceded in death by son George Crump.

She is survived by husband Royce; grandchildren Kinley, Hayley and Colton; daughter-in-law Vicki Crump; sister Maysel Wilson.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe, with burial in Sylvania Cemetery.

Jetta B. Carter

Jetta Berneice Carter, 74, of Hot Springs, died June 11, 2006. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, R.B. “Bud” Carter; sisters, Pat Putz of Tulsa, Okla., Juanita Farmer and Jennie Adams, both of Sand Springs, Okla.; daughter, Barbara Terry of Humnoke; son, Brad Carter of Stuttgart; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held June 15 at Macedonia Baptist Missionary Church in Humnoke. Interment followed at Hamilton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Advance Care Hospital, 300 Warner St. 3 East Hot Springs, Ark., 71901.

Arrangements were by Wilson Funeral Home in England.

Ola Faye Evans

Ola Faye Evans, 84, of Little Rock, died June 14, 2006.

She was a member of Westrock Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Hunter of Little Rock; son, Aubrey Bentley of Heber Springs; brother, William Green of Lonoke; sisters, Lucille Waymack of Cabot, and Helen Evans of North Little Rock.

Funeral services were held June 17 in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth in Little Rock. Burial followed at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
