Lucille Verser Baker

Lucille Verser Baker, 92, of Lonoke, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, July 26, 2006. She was born Dec. 11, 1913, in Lonoke to Earl and Maggie Verser.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert H. Baker, sister Allene Rauch, and brothers Earl Jr. and Jerry Verser.

Survivors include her son, Philip Baker (Jenna) of Houston, Texas; daughter Patricia Barnett (Jim) of North Little Rock; grandchildren Phillip Baker II (Wendy) of Tyler, Texas, Elizabeth Currey (Jeff) of Dallas, Texas, Maggie Dicus (Craig) of Montclair, Va., and David Barnett (Kim) of North Little Rock. Great-grandchildren who will miss their Oma and Nannie are Julianne, Laura, Phillip III, Matthew and Joshua Baker, Joseph and Jackson Dicus and Austin Barnett. Also surviving are beloved sisters, Josephine Bryant, Evelyn Hauk and Martha Chrietzberg of Lonoke, and Carolyn Oudin (Marc) of Little Rock.

The family received friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.

Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at Lonoke First United Methodist Church, followed by interment in Salem Cemetery, located nine miles north of Lonoke on Bethlehem Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Pine at Center streets, Lonoke, Ark. 72086.

The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Years Manor, Lonoke, and Dr. Diane Wilder and staff at Little Rock Hematology Oncology for their loving concern and attention.

Robert Shelton Jr.

Robert L. “Bobby” Shelton Jr., 62, of Wabbaseka died Thursday, July 27, 2006.

Survivors include his son, Bart Shelton and wife Melinda of Memphis, Tenn.; sister Crystal Shelton Reid of Cabot; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Saturday, July 22, at Lone Tree Cemetery at Stuttgart.
Arrangements were by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services in Pine Bluff.

Patricia C. Duncan

On July 28, 2006, we returned to our Lord, Patricia Carolyn Duncan, wife of 46 years to Doyle Winston Duncan of Cabot, Arkansas.

She was mother to Doyle Winston Duncan Jr. and Jeffery Kent Duncan, both of Memphis, Tenn.; stepmother to Janice McWilliams of Waco, Texas, and Linda Starks of Cross Plains, Tenn. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Darren, Michelle, Corey, Daniel, Andrea, Mallory, Joshua and Lindsey; five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Skylar, Emma, Caleb and Megan; and siblings Carrol Houser, Jewel Miller, Judy Hocutt, Jennie Cox, Barbara Hill and Betty Dorsey.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Harrison.

Funeral services were held 10 a.m., Monday, July 31, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot, with interment in Sumner Cemetery. Visitation was from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke.

Basil Jennings Sr.

Basil B. Jennings Sr., 87, of Carlisle died Tuesday, July 25, 2006. He was retired from Remington Arms.

He is survived by his sons, Basil Jennings Jr. of Carlisle and J.C. Jennings of North Little Rock; stepsons Bobby Joe and Calvin Elmore both of Carlisle; sisters Martha Holmes of North Little Rock and Mary Justice of Lonoke; brother Kenneth Jennings of Carlisle; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 28, at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen.

Mary M. Griffin

Mary Margaret Griffin, 79, of Austin died Tuesday, July 25, 2006. She was a retired manufacturing worker and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Griffin.

She is survived by a daughter, Vickie Joslin of Austin; son Ricky Griffin and wife Pam of Ward; sister Elaine Weatherly of Cabot; grandchildren Stacy Ostraski and husband Mike of Ward, Rocky Joslin of Austin, and David Griffin and wife Sara of Beebe; and great-grandchild Mackenna “Little Mack” Griffin.

Interment was at 16th Section Cemetery in Austin.

Arrangements were by Cabot Funeral Home.

Floy Warren-Winham

Floy Ann Warren-Winham, 63, of Jacksonville died Wednesday, July 26, 2006.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sandford Lee Warren, and daughter-in-law Erin Winham.

She is survived by her son, Chet Winham IV and daughter Heather Ann Winham-Fulwood and husband Scott, all of Brentwood, Calif.; mother Floy Loren Kreager Warren of Cabot; sister Laura Lee Buehler and husband Randy of Ward; and as seven grandchildren.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements were by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

Ruth Neal Grimsley

Ruth Neal Grimsley, 63, of Cabot died Saturday, July 29, 2006.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Evertt and Ruby McHughes Harris.

Arrangements were by Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home.

John D. Murphy Sr.

John D. Murphy Sr., 47, of North Little Rock died Saturday, July 22, 2006.

He is survived by his fiancée, Maria Jones of North Little Rock; children John D. Jr. and Cresia of North Little Rock, Keisha of Little Rock, Jamie Murphy of Lonoke, and Synicia Burnette of North Little Rock; and siblings Michael Smith of Jacksonville, Joseph IV of Little Rock, Samie and Carl, both of Forrest City, Devontae and Deauntae, both of Little Rock, Sheila and Shirley Cogshell and Wanda Manning all of Kansas City, Kan., and Shaida Turner of Little Rock.

Visitation was held Friday, July 28, at Eighth Street Baptist Church in North Little Rock.

Lois E. Waymack

Lois Elizabeth Waymack, 93, of Cabot died Monday, July 24, 2006. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Patsy Wilson of Cabot; son Tommy Waymack of Cabot; sister Alma Looper; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 27, at the chapel of Cabot Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Sumner Cemetery.

Rodney T. D. Ballard

Rodney Thomas Dewitt Ballard, 24, of Cabot, died Sunday, July 30, 2006. He was a 2001 graduate of Cabot High School.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carroll Mullins and Imogene Richardson.

He is survived by his parents, Ronnie and Kathy Mullins Ballard of Little Rock; sister Felisha Ballard of Cabot; brother Zachary Ballard of Cabot; grandfather Dewitt Ballard of Ward; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Victory Baptist Church in Cabot. Interment followed at Old Austin Cemetery in Ward.

Arrangements were by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home.

Clarace M. Shoup

Clarace M. Crowly Shoup, 92, of Carlisle died Monday, July 24, 2006. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carlisle, the Builder’s Sunday School Class and the Carlisle Progressive Club.

She is survived by her son Bill Shoup of Carlisle; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Thursday, July 27, at the Carlisle Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 417, Carlisle, Ark. 72024, or the Carlisle Cemetery Association.
