Mamie Ruth Boggs

Mamie Ruth Boggs, 77, of Cabot died Aug. 11, 2006, in Little Rock. She was born Aug. 4, 1929 to the late William and Emma Welch Riley in Hughes, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otis L. Boggs; four brothers, Cliff Riley, Luther Riley, Lamar Riley and Eugene Riley; and a sister, Mae Winders.

She is survived by six children; Sandy Combs of Conway, Otis Boggs of Hickory Plains, John Boggs of Cabot, Jim Boggs of Cabot, Judy Thomas of Beebe and Kathy Michaelis of Cabot; a sister Ollie Belle Stivers of Beebe; brother Charles Riley of Memphis; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, at Hickory Plains Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Tony Crye officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot. Arrangements are by Cabot Funeral Home.

Thresa Vines

Thresa Schiermeyer Vines, 77, of Cabot died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Schiermeyer Sr.; son Jeff Schiermeyer; and daughter Peggy Watson.

She is survived by her daughter Becky Ransom and husband Ron; son Bob Schiermeyer and wife Rebecca all of Cabot; sister Evelyn Harrell of Westminister, Va.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her special companion Pepper.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery. Arrangements are by North Little Rock Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 West 12th St., Little Rock, Ark., 72204.

Kelly Ann Sweeney

Kelly Ann Sweeney, 39, of Casa died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006. She worked at Comcast Cable of Little Rock for 17 years as lead dispatcher.

She is survived by her son J.W. Sweeney and his father Jeff Sweeney of Lonoke; fiancee Jeff Robertson of Mount Ida; mother and stepfather Diane and Odell Alford of Little Rock; sisters Shelly Atkins of Bryant, Brenda Waleszonia of East End and Nikki and Amanda Gentry and Samantha Blair all of Little Rock; father H. Eddie Gentry of Benton; and stepmother Alice Christianson of Little Rock; and grandmothers Bobbie D. Shepherd of Little Rock, and Betty Sue Rone of Benton.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.

Mildred A. Hulsey

Mildred Arvilla Fisher Hulsey, 82 years old, of Mt. Ida, Ark., passed away August 12, 2006, in Mt. Ida. She was born on January 10, 1924, in Silver, Ark., to the late William and Martha Dement Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and six sisters.

Survivors include husband Andrew Hulsey; one daughter and son-in-law Peggy Etta Hulsey Anderson and Ronnie of Lonoke; four sons and daughters-in-law Andrew William and Jackie Hulsey of Wintersprings, Fla., John Howard Hulsey and Joe Lud Hulsey of Lonoke, and Jack Hal and Sheila Hulsey of McRae, Ark.; and two sisters Jennie L. Vanderford and Susie E. Brakefield.

Visitation was held Tuesday Aug. 15, 2006, from 3 to 6 p.m.

Services will be graveside at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at the Stanley-Standridge Cemetery with Bro. Paul Burke officiating and under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home in Mt. Ida.

The family requests that memorials be made to the maintenance fund for the Stanley-Standridge Cemetery.

Lawrence Dean

Lawrence Dean of Little Rock died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006. He was a truck driver for the Western Foods Company.

Survivors are his wife Emma Dean; sisters Lillie Pearl Gatewood and Inell Profit both of Lonoke, and Margaret Davis of Raytown, Mo.; brothers Wade Dean of Little Rock, and Chester Dean of Chicago, Ill.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 12, at Friendly Chapel Church in North Little Rock. Arrangements by Brown’s Christian Funeral Service.

Richard W. Swint

Richard Wayne ‘Tiny’ Swint, 58, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006. He was a long-time citizen of the Woodlawn Community in Lonoke County, a machinist by trade, and avid outdoorsman. He was a member of Chambers Baptist Church and a 1967 graduate of Lonoke High School.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Lola Swint; sister, Shirley Swint Bennett; one great-nephew Gage Swint Goodman.

Survivors include brothers, Charles (Felecia) Swint, Marshall Swint and Rickey (Kim) Swint; sister, Lola Swint; six nephews, two nieces & six great-nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 13, at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Brownsville Cemetery.

Alpha J. Bell

Alpha Josephine Bell, 73, of Searcy died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006. She was the owner and operator of Style Crest Beauty Salon and attended Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Beck Thurman; granddaughter Jeannie Hernandez; and sisters Wanda Locke and Doris Crisco.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years W.H. “Hickey” Bell of Searcy; sons Bill Bell of London, England, Mike Wolf of Texas, Danny Bell of Searcy, and Rob Bell of Texas; daughter Pam Hawkins of North Carolina; brothers Tom McDaniel of Cabot, John McDaniel of Memphis, and Jim Thurman of Kentucky; sisters Laverne Chitwood of Little Rock, Hilton Dugger of Beebe, and Billy Jean Faulks of Texas; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. until noon at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home with funeral services to follow. Interment will be at White County Memorial Gardens.

John W. Holmes

John Willman Holmes, 53, of Lonoke, born April 9, 1953, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006. He was a graduate of Lonoke High School and attended UCA in Conway; was self-employed and had lived all his life in Lonoke.

He is survived by his parents Dr. and Mrs. B.E. Holmes of Lonoke; two brothers Byron Holmes and wife Brenda of Forrest City and Lee Holmes and wife Kim of Fayetteville; one sister Amelia Muse and husband Dick of Lonoke; nieces and nephews Steven and Lydia Holmes, Charlotte and Reagan Muse, Kaitlin and Lee David Holmes.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 12, at Lonoke First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Lonoke Cemetery, arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.

The family requests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Lonoke.

Max Duane Holt

Max Duane Holt, 44, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006. He was an employee of Harris Insulation.

Survivors include his mother Sharon Applewhite of Lonoke; father Bill Taylor of Benton; sons Jason Holt of Mooresville, N.C., Zachary Holt of Temple, Texas, Justin Holt of Little Rock and Joshua Holt of Bryant; daughter Nikki Holt of Bryant; three grandsons and two granddaughters; three sisters Kelly Wall, Briley Charette and Pam Howard; three brothers James Brazzell, Ray Brazzell and Joey Cash.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 12, at Gateway Fellowship in Lonoke, with the Rev. Fred W. Hunter officiating. Arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Charles Lee Daves

Charles Lee Daves, 86, of North Little Rock died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in North Little Rock, was an Army Surgical Tech, and drove an ambulance in World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Marguerite Daves; daughters Nancy Stricklen and husband Bobby of Lonoke, Catherine Walker of Lonoke and Jo Anne Fletcher and husband Ricky of Hensley; sister Marie Grimes of Conway; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel. A Masonic service will be at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Arkansas Memorial Gardens.

The family requests that memorials be made to Arkansas Cancer Research Center, 4301 W. Markham St., Slot 623, Little Rock, Ark. 92205-9985.

Minnie C. Thomason

Minnie Christine Moore Thomason, 81, of Lonoke died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006. She and her husband, the late Thomas Lelon Thomason, were dairy farmers in the Wattensaw community for more than 50 years. She was a member of Wattensaw Baptist Church for more than 50 years and taught Sunday School class for more than 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Agnes Terry Moore Hester and Thurman Moore; her stepfather, John Thomas Hester; brothers, Harold, Cecil, and Robert Moore; sisters, Jessie Pearl Moore and Elizabeth Moore Hester; grandson, Wade Finley Jr.; and two nephews.

She is survived by daughters, Diana Finley and husband Wade, Kathy Franks and husband Tommy, all of Lonoke; grandsons, John Franks of Little Rock and Joe Franks of Lonoke; granddaughters, Dawn Tirman of San Anselmo, Calif., and Lesley Faulkner of Little Rock; two sisters, Ann Pepper and Bess Campbell; a sister-in-law; seven nieces and four nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at the Wattensaw Baptist Church in Lonoke. Interment followed in Wattensaw Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be made to Wattensaw Baptist Church 7300 Hwy 31 N., Lonoke, AR, 72086.

John Shelby Sutton

John Shelby Sutton, 52, of Alexander, died Thursday, Aug. 3. He was born Sept. 27, 1953, in Little Rock to the late Van D. Sutton and Mary Yarberry Sutton Cullins. He was an ordained minister.

He is survived by his children, Shelly Cagle and husband Terry of Cowan, Tenn., and James Sutton and wife Connie of Ward; brother, Lee Sutton; sisters, Sue Mullings and husband Sam of Alexander and Sharon Fluker; two niece; five grandchildren and his fiancé, Zora Anderson of Beebe.

A memorial was held Tuesday at Viney Ridge Emmanuel Baptist Church.
