Shirley Ann Hopkins

Shirley Ann Petty Hopkins, age 67, of Stuttgart, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006. She was born March 5, 1939 in Little Rock to the late Julius and Myrtle Petty.

She is survived by her sons, Ray Harrison and wife Becky of Little Rock, Lynn Berry and wife Sherry of Austin; a daughter, Susan Deely of Stuttgart; brothers, Gene Petty of Longview, Texas, Charles Petty of Raleigh, N.C.; stepsister Lois Lovette of Stuttgart; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at First Baptist Church in England. Arrangement by Thomas Funeral Service.

Randall I. Diles

Randall “Randy” I. Diles, 55, of Little Rock died Sunday, August 13, 2006. He operated the After Hours Upholstery & Fix It Shop and was employed by Falcon Jet for many years.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert E. Diles, and stepfather J. Earl Bowman.

He is survived by his mother Dorothy Diles Bowman of Little Rock; brother Reiman Diles and wife Peggy of Carlisle; sister D’Ann Diles of Little Rock; and stepsisters Linda Ring and Sandra Abbott.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth in Little Rock. With the Rev. Jim Foster officiating. Family will receive friends following the service at Oak Forest United Methodist Church.

The family requests that memorials may be made to Oak Forest United Methodist Church, 2415 Fair Park Blvd., Little Rock, Ark. 72205.

Amy Jo Conklin

Amy Jo Lynn Conklin, 20 months of Ward, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2006. She was born Dec. 10, 2004 to Dennis and Starla Dodson Conklin in Little Rock Arkansas.
She is survived by her parents; brothers, Anthony, Nathan and Dennis Jr.; sisters, Alexis and Deminica; grandparents, 6 aunts, 6 uncles and 14 cousins.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the chapel of Cabot Funeral Home. Services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2006, at the funeral home with Rev. E. Thomas Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Cato Cemetery.

Verla A. Miessner

Verla A. Miessner went to be with the Lord and Savior on Aug. 18, 2006. Verla was born in Oplin, Texas to the late Preston and Beulah Moore. She spent her early years of life in Abilene, Texas and later moved to Fort Worth where she met the love of her life of fifty-two years, Hillis J. Miessner. They were married on Jan. 16, 1954, and began their life together in Fort Worth and later moved to Germany in 1974. After spending five years in Germany, Hillis, Verla, and four of their children moved to Cabot, where they settled down to retire.

She is preceded in death by their first child, Margaret; her father, Preston Moore; and mother, Beulah Moore. A loving wife, mother, friend and Oma. Verla is survived by her husband, Hillis Miessner; son Mark Miessner and wife Sheryl; grandson Matthew; granddaughter Heather, of Cabot; son Allen Miessner; and granddaughter Laura, of Cabot; son Gary Miessner and wife Terri of Cabot; daughter Gail Schwanke and husband Keith Schwanke; grandson Joshua, and grandson Andrew of Junction City, Kansas. Verla is also survived by a sister and three brothers and many special nieces and nephews.

A visitation was scheduled for Monday, Aug. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 22, at 2 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cabot.

In lieu of flowers/plants, the family requests that donations be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church of Cabot, Arkansas or Baptist Hospice of Arkansas. The family would like to extend a special thank you to family, friends, and co-workers who lifted us up in their prayers and to Baptist Hospice for the faith, care, and love shown during this difficult time. We will miss you Oma.

Ross Robertson

Ross Joseph Robertson, 48, of Alexander died Aug. 13, 2006. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Robertson.

Survivors include his brothers Randy of Cabot, Richard of Washington, and Ronald Robertson of Taiwan; and sisters Marjorie Waggoner of Alexander, and Martha White of Oklahoma.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Aug. 20, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Alexander with Elwin Ollar officiating.

Charles Willmuth

Charles S. Willmuth, 81, of Little Rock died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006. A member of the First Christian Church, he served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was the owner and operator of Charles Oil Company, which later merged with General Oil Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry C. and Ida Lee Willmuth; brothers Neal, Kenneth, and Paul H. Willmuth; sisters Nona Tedford, Calisteen Bearden, Hester Benedict, and Hazel Lee Misho; and daughter Cindy Bishop.

He is survived by his wife Maxine C. Willmuth; daughter Amanda W. Farquhar and husband Scott and their son Jon Willmuth Farquhar; son James Bishop and wife Cindy all of Little Rock; granddaughter Stacy Evans and husband Craig and their daughter Brooklyn of Cabot; and sister Imogene W. Newsom of Batesville.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Aug. 17, at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Cremation and graveside services were with Roller-Chenal Funeral Home assisting.
The family requests that memorials be made to First Christian Church Food Pantry, 1500 N. Mississippi Street, Little Rock, AR 72207.

Berniece Nichoalds

Berniece Nichoalds, 87, of Lonoke died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006. She was a retired seamstress from Tuff Nut Garment Factory and a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons George Nichoalds of Clayton, N.C., David Nichoalds of Lonoke and Ronald Nichoalds of North Little Rock; daughter Rebecca Sanders of Midlothian, Texas; sister Hazel Smith of Mena, formerly of Sherwood; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Connie Martin

Connie Lorene Martin, 74, of Scott died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006. She was a lifelong nurse’s aid and a caregiver for 45 years.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother J.C. and Ruth Scroggins; brothers Arnold Scroggins and J.M. Scroggins; and son Ronnie Martin.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years J.W. “Dub” Martin of Scott; daughter Nancy Corbishley and husband William of North Little Rock; son David Martin and wife Jeannie of Scott; brother Bobby Scroggins and wife Roberta of Little Rock; daughter-in-law Cathy Martin Brasfield and husband Mark of Cabot; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and best friend and companion of 47 years Martha Shadden.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Roller-England Funeral Home Chapel. She was buried at Mulberry Cemetery in England. Arrangements by Roller-England Funeral Home.

Doyle House

Doyle Vanes (D.V.) House, 78, of Cabot, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006. An Air Corps and Army veteran of World War II and Korea, he served more than 37 years in the military, retiring on Dec. 24, 1987, with the rank of Master Sergeant from the Army National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Lee Vestor House and Pearl Lenora Landtrip House; brother Tom House; sister Mabel Wilson; and son Billy House.

He is survived by his wife Marlene K. House; twin brother Loyle V. House; brother Frank House and wife Mary; daughters Dee House, Nancy Sirk, Tanya Weaver and husband Chris, and Tisha Martin; son Todd A. Spafford and Kim; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 22, at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery following the service. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Ruby E. Jones

Ruby E. Jones, 90, of North Little Rock died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006. She was of the Assembly of God faith.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Patricia Combs.

She is survived by her sons Marvin Yeary of Weir, Texas, Floyd Jones of North Little Rock, Edward Jones of Springfield, Porter Jones of North Little Rock, Bobby Jones of Ward and Michael Jones of North Little Rock; daughters-in-law Barbara Jones of Springfield and Marguerite Yeary of Weir, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A Graveside service was held Friday, Aug. 18, at Romance Cemetery in Romance, White County. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Byzie Lee Parr

Byzie Lee Parr, 67, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006.

Preceding him in death was one grandson.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette; four children; and eight grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Aug. 19, at Concord Cemetery. Arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke.

Barbara Bryant

Barbara Bryant, 72, of Sherwood died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006. She retired from Southwestern Bell after 30 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents James Charles and Minnie Lee Bryant; sister Charlene Bryant; brother Frank Bryant; sisters Madie Fields and Marian Rogers both of Jacksonville, Sibyl Glover and Patsy Bates both of North Little Rock, Ramona Thompson of Lonoke and Martha Bowen of North Little Rock; brother Vance Bryant of Austin; and companions Sissy and Skip.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 17, at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 West 12th St., Little Rock, AR 72204.

Paul Seidenschwarz

Paul Seidenschwarz of Ulm died August 19, 2006.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his son Solomon; one granddaughter; mother Ruby Seidenschwarz of Stuttgart; sister Sara Mertens and husband Tom of Carlisle; brothers Bill and Wife Prudy of Cabot, Wayne of Hazen, and Chuck and wife Vivian of Stuttgart; and special brothers Freddy Derden and wife Christy, and Buddy Sneed.

A memorial service, officiated by the Rev. Joe Glover, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Turpin Funeral Home chapel. Private burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery Chapel. Arrangements by Turpin Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Museum of the Arkansas Grand Prairie, Roe Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
