Lucille Martha Cain

Lucille Martha Cain, 85, of Cabot died Friday, Sept. 8, 2006.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Irene Porter.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Cain; children Wanda Lafferty of Jacksonville, Donnie Porter of Cotter, Ark., Elaine Cofer of Benton, and Ron Cain of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Dennis Lafferty, Keri Gray, David Porter, Dana Hogue, Kim Cofer, Jonathan Cain, Kelly Cain, and Regan Cain; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 11, at the chapel of Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home, with interment at Egner Cemetery in Salado.

Sarah Gannaway

Sarah Louise Steed “Poodles” Gannaway, age 82, died Sept. 15, 2006. She was born March 2, 1924, in Little Rock, Ark., to Vivian and I. J. Steed. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Little Rock.

She was active in Girl Scouts, school activities, church choir, Sunday school teacher for children and youth, United Methodist Women and other church activities, director and teacher at the Darnall School, and secretary at the Cabot Public Schools.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, James B. “Jim” Gannaway; three loving daughters, Sharon S. Gannaway and her friend Michael Torok of Eden Prairier, Minn., Vivian G. Walker and her husband Clifford Treese of Pleasanton, Calif., and Linda L. Gannaway of Fresno, Calif.; two grandsons, Erik Treese and his wife Karole Lakota of Chicago, Ill., and Michael Tresse of Chicago; brother Charles “Pinky” Steed and his wife Fran of Little Rock; sister-in-law Demetra Gannaway of Little Rock; brother-in-law Tommy Thompson of Alexandria, Va.; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, including three special friends, Alexis, Clark, and Lewis Faupel of Cabot.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Vivian Thompson.

A memorial service was held at St. Paul United Methodist church, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock, AR 72207, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, with a reception at the church immediately thereafter. Visitation was also at St. Paul United Methodist Church from 2 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17. Private burial, family members only.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, Little Rock, or Cabot Untied Methodist Church, 2003 South Pine, Cabot, AR 72023, or charity of choice.

The family would like to thank all employees at Presbyterian Village Retirement Center of Little Rock, for their love and care during Sarah’s residence there. Also, the family is deeply grateful to Dr. Thomas Sneed and the staff at Arkansas Oncology Associates, Little Rock, to Arkansas Baptist Hospice, and to Dr. Pat Osom of Little Rock for their wonderful love and care.

Floyd M. Harris

Floyd Murphey Harris of Ward, Ark., was born Jan. 31, 1917, at Ward and died peacefully at home Sept. 14, 2006, after a long battle with cancer. He served in the Army Intelligence in the 115th Signal Corp. during World War II. He was a member of the Joliet First Church of the Nazarene until 1987. After retirement, he moved back to Arkansas in 1987 and was a member of the Beebe Church of the Nazarene. He served on the church board and taught Sunday school and helped build these three churches, including the Joliet Crystal Lawns Church of the Nazarene. He worked on the Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern Railway for 31 years in Joliet, Ill., and was an active member of the Woodlawn Senior Citizens. All who knew him said he was a wonderful man of God and made an impact on many who met him.

Floyd is preceded in death by his wife, Carmelita Harris, who died April 11, 1992; his parents Joe and Alma Harris; two brothers, Clem A. Harris and Darrel Harris; two sisters, Odell Young and Mattie Lene Baldwin Knox; two daughters, Patricia Forillo and Alma Jo Fields of Joliet, Ill.

He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Burk of Joliet, Ill.; three sons, Ronald (Connie) Harris and Glenn Harris of Joliet, Ill.; Donald (Rose) Harris of Ward; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters Geraldine Harris, Oza Mae Trickey, and Ruth Hudson, all of Little Rock, and Elizabeth (Paul) Norman of Ward, and brother Charles (Jane) Harris of Coal City, Ill.

Family received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Beebe First Church of the Nazarene, with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet, Ill.

Linda Kay Harris

Linda Kay Harris, 50, of Ward died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006.

She is survived by her daughters, Misty Poe and husband Wayne of Beebe, and Danielle Pollard and husband Dustin of Cabot; parents Lloyd and Noreene Treon; and grandchildren Cameron and Ethan Poe of Beebe.

A memorial service was held Monday, Sept. 18, at Mt. Springs Baptist Church.

Arrangements were by Thomas Funeral Service in Cabot.

Joe Fletcher

Joe Fletcher, 78, of Little Rock died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006. He was a Bald Knob High School graduate, attended the Naval Academy Preparatory School and served in the U.S. Navy, worked for the Bald Knob Telephone Co. and P. Lorillard Co. of New York, and retired from Bristol Laboratories in 1980.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mabel Fletcher, and brothers James Monroe and Carrol Dewayne Fletcher.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Grigsby Fletcher; son Mark and wife Laura of St. Louis, Mo.; daughters Jo Lynne Harr of Cabot, and Gigi Nelson of Benton; sisters Reva Fletcher of Little Rock, and Ella Mae Rooks and husband Wesley of Gillett; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 15, at St. James United Methodist Church. Interment was at Shady Grove Cemetery in Bald Knob.

The family requests that memorials be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, AR 72212.

Clarice Sue Martin

Clarice Sue Martin, 66, of Bryant died Sept. 11, 2006. She was a native of Carlisle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Martin, parents John Henry Laster and Myrtle Fornell, and brother Johnny Laster.

She is survived by sons Larry Martin and wife Kathy, Keith Martin and wife Sandy, Kelly Martin and wife Debbie Gately, and Tony Martin and wife Renee; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Carlisle Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice Care, 2200 S. Bowman Road, Little Rock, AR 72211.

Arrangements were by Roller-Owens Funeral Home.

James E. Bishop

James Edward Bishop, 47, of Scott died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006. He was a construction worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Virginia De. Westerman Bishop, brothers Edward Eugene, Jimmy Lee and Johnny William Bishop, and sister Brenda Faye Potts.

He is survived by his fiancee, Starr Lynn Kelley Strom of Scott; sisters Barbara Rodenberry of Jacksonville, Joyce Wortham of Lonoke, Rita Milligan of Lonoke, Kathy McCraw and husband John of Jacksonville, and Lindsey Cooper, Debbie Cooper, Gail Cooper, and Verilette Hubert, all of Kansas City, Kan.; and brothers Thomas A. Bishop and wife Debbie, Larry Cooper, Chucky Cooper and Darryl Cooper all of Kansas City, Kan., and Clint Cooper and Donny Cooper, both of Cabot.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 18, at Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene in North Little Rock. Interment followed in Sumner Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

David Lee Fisk

David Lee Fisk, 74, of Jacksonville died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, held a master’s degree in economics from Arkansas State University, and was a contractor in the Jacksonville area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Lina Anderson Fisk, and brother Guy Fisk.

He is survived by his wife, Iris Fisk of Jacksonville; son James D. Fisk of Jacksonville; daughter Penny R. Fisk of Lonoke; stepson Keith Rogers of Little Rock; and brother Jack Fisk and wife Jean of Michigan.

Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 16, at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Jacksonville.

Arrangements were by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

April Lyn Fuller

April Lyn Hillman Fuller, 20, of Searcy died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006. She was born Nov. 30, 1985, to James Hillman and Mary Wright Kilpatrick in Jacksonville. She was a 2005 Cabot High School graduate and graduated from Arthur’s Beauty College in March. She was employed at Shear Envy Salon in Cabot.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Millie Fulfer and grandfather, Gene Wright.

She is survived by her husband, Matthew Dean Fuller of Higginson; mother, Mary Kilpatrick and husband Keith of Ward; father, James Hillman and wife Misty of Ward; two sisters, Sarah Wilkins of Ward and Jessica Hillman of Jacksonville; two stepsisters, Michelle Crook of Jacksonville and Brittany Street of Ward; brother, Ryan Hillman of Ward; grandmothers, Sadie Wright of Jacksonville and Martha Malone of Ward; grandfather, Leo Hillman of Jacksonville; and grandparents, Ed and Georgia Kilpatrick of Searcy.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 20 at First Baptist Church in Higginson with Bro. Tim Harper officiating. Burial followed at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway.
Arrangements were under the direction of Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home.

Betty J. Kerr

Betty Jean Collier Kerr, 76, of Forth Worth, Texas, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006. She was a native of Cabot and a retired real estate broker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover Cleveland and Margaret Emily “Francis” Miller Collier.

She is survived by he children, F.C. “Bud” Kerr and wife Glenda of Ferris, Texas, Gayle Gilibert and husband Joe of Fort Worth, Roger Dale Kerr and wife Patty of Poolville, Texas, and John Darrell Kerr and wife Carole of Crowley, Texas; brother George Wesley Collier of North Little Rock; 10 grandchildren and 10 ten great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Thomas Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Mountain Springs Baptist Church in Cabot. Burial will be in Mountain Springs Cemetery.
