H.E. "Pete" Raines
H.E. “Pete” Raines, 80, of Stuttgart passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Bryant Health Care.
Mr. Raines was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Amity, Ark., to Doug and Annie Small Raines.
He served on the Board of Trustees at Ouachita Baptist University for 18 years and was very active in local civic affairs, but was most honored to have served as mayor of Stuttgart from 1984-1996.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Juanita in 1999.
Survivors are his son, Doug Raines and wife Sara of Bryant and their daughter, Jenny Lynn Raines of Lowell; and his daughter, Melanie Raines of Mt. Ida, Ark.
Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Gregg Greenway, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Turpin Funeral Home with burial at 3:30 p.m. in Jones Cemetery near Amity, Ark. Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. Friday at Turpin Funeral Home.
The family requests memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Arkansas Programs and Services, 10411 W. Markham, Suite 130, Little Rock, Ark., 72205-1409.

Clementine "Clemie" Lisko
Clementine “Clemie” Lisko, 83, widow of Steve Lisko, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008, at Baptist Health in North Little Rock.
Mrs. Lisko was born March 21, 1925, in Slovak, to Paul Plafcan and Anna Pruzinski Plafcan. She was a homemaker and member of St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors are six sons, Frankie Lisko of Slovak, Richard Lisko of Stuttgart, Marty Lisko of Brinkley, Freddie Lisko of Slovak, Stephen Lisko of Slovak and Jimmy Lisko of Hazen; one daughter, Linda Kellim of Jonesboro; 20 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church with rosary being said at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass, officiated by Monsignor John Janesko, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.

Vicky Marlene Lester Gordon
Vicky Marlene Lester Gordon, 52, of Stuttgart died Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Gordon was born Aug. 16, 1955, in DeWitt, to Wilburn Reece Lester and Mary Francis Mooneyham Lester. She was manager of McDonalds for 14 years and was a member of North Maple Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Lester, and a sister, Judy Lester.
Survivors are her husband and best friend, Charles Gordon; one son, Ted Starks of Humphrey; four step-children, Steven Gordon of Humphrey, Jerry Daniel Gordon of Stuttgart, Kelly Bailey of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Melissa Parker of Stuttgart; three brothers, Roman Lester of Little Rock, Norman Lester of Springfield, Mo., and Henry Lester of Stuttgart; seven step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Don Gordon, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial following in Flynn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Turpin Funeral Home.

Phillip Mark Reynolds
Phillip Mark Reynolds, 45, of Stuttgart died Friday, June 6, 2008, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.
Mark was born March 26, 1963, in Cullman, Ala., to Thomas Joe Reynolds and DeNell Stewart Reynolds. He was a contractor painter employed by Utility Service Co.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a special niece, Adrianne Reynolds; and a little sister, Regina Reynolds.
Survivors are two daughters, Heather (Travis) Palik of Beebe and Alicia (Michael) Wagner of Romance; five brothers, Roger Reynolds and Tony Reynolds of East Moline, Ill., Craig Reynolds and Jim Reynolds of Columbus, Ohio, and Wayne Flanagan of Decatur. Ala.; three sisters, Cecelia (Doyle) Anderson of Lonoke, Marilyn “Cricket” (Carey) Findley of Lonoke and Carolyn “Tightwad” (Joe) Schafer of Lonoke; six grandchildren, Tristan, Taylor, Gracie, Madelyn, Abbygail and Brandon; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lone Tree Cemetery chapel.

Ruby Dubert Owens
Ruby Sue Dubert Owens of DeWitt, formerly of Stuttgart, departed this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. She was born on May 3, 1937, to Sidney and Hedy Dubert of Hagler, Ark.
Ruby retired after 25 years at Lennox Industries and was a member of the Church of Christ in Stuttgart. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who was loved by everyone who knew her. She always devoted her love and time to caring for her family and loved ones.
Her husband, Delbert Owens; her mother and father; brothers, Clyde Dubert and Sidney Dubert Jr.; and sisters Lois Keaton, Bernice Stapp, Betty Henderson, Geraldean Watson and Eunice Temple, all preceded her in death.
She leaves behind five loving children, Dennis Owens and wife Tracey of Evening Shade, David and wife Shelley of Cabot and Kay Hornibrook, Donny Owens and Karen Coats and husband Terry, all of Stuttgart. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Amy Rider, Ashley Coats, Haven Hornibrook, Jessica Owens, Chad Owens, Jennifer Owens and Spencer Owens; two step-grandchildren, Jessica Kelly and Jimmy Evans; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service, officiated by Bro. Gregg Greenway, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart with private burial following a Bayou Meto Cemetery.
The family requests memorials be made to Arkansas Cancer Research Center, #623, UAMS, 4301 W. Markham St., Little Rock, Ark. 72205-9985.

Eva Dean Farmer
Eva Dean Farmer, 73, of Stuttgart died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Stuttgart Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Farmer was born May 22, 1935, in Coy, Ark., to Wallace and Ellen Jane Smith Wheat. She was a homemaker and a member of Humphrey Pentecostal Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Billy Michael Farmer.
Survivors are her husband, Billy Franklin Farmer; one son, Wilburn Delbert Farmer of Humphrey; one daughter, Karen Lynn Phillips of Biscoe; one sister, Edna Ruth Snyder of Carlisle; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Humphrey Pentecostal with burial following in Hamilton Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Turpin Funeral Home.

William Gordon Meeks
William Gordon Meeks, 86, of Stuttgart died Saturday, May 24, 2008, in Stuttgart Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Meeks was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Star City, Ark., to Williams B. Meeks and Irene Culberson Meeks. He was retired from Comet Rice Mill and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Stuttgart.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Meeks; and one brother, Elgin Meeks.
Survivors are one daughter, Jackie Bull of Stuttgart; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Meeks was cremated.
The family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Stuttgart.
