Janice Blackwood Henderson Janice Gail Blackwood Henderson, 53, of Aubrey, Ark., formerly of Stuttgart, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, in Yuma, Ariz, from complications from pulmonary hypertension. At the time of her death, she and her husband were enroute to San Diego, Calif., for further testing and possible surgery to correct her illness. Janice was born Oct. 20, 1954, in Stuttgart to J.W. “Dub” and Joyce Marie Mason Blackwood and was a 1972 graduate of Stuttgart High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Marianna where she served as a preschool teacher and served on the children’s committee and music committee before her health declined. Survivors are her husband of 35 years, Roger Henderson; two daughters, Kara Rook and husband Keith of Calico Rock and Leah Smith and husband Evan of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Coby and Jackson Rook and Kendall Smith; her parents, J.W. “Dub” and Joyce Blackwood of Little Rock; one sister, Judy Sinele and husband Ford and their children, Hunter and Faith of Little Rock; her father- and mother-in-law, Marvin and Annie Henderson of Stuttgart; and many other relatives. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Walter Owens and Bro. Charles Flowers, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Stuttgart. Burial will follow in Sunshine Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Turpin Funeral Home. The family requests memorials be made to PH Association, 801 Roeder Rd., Ste. 400, Silver Springs, MD 20910, or the donor’s choice. Gladyce Massingill Gladyce Rosemary Massingill, 80, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Forrest City Medical Center. Mrs. Massingill was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Humphrey to George and Birdie Gibson and had been a lifelong resident of this area. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and a retired telephone operator. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Massingill; three brothers, and two sisters. Survivors are two sons, Kerry Massingill of Gillett and Barry Massingill (Rachelle) of Ward; two daughters, Rhonda Massingill of Cabot and Becky Brewer (William) of Jacksonville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Harmony Baptist Church. Local arrangements are by Turpin Funeral of Stuttgart. Anna Elizabeth "Betsy"Turley Anna Elizabeth “Betsy” Turley, 94, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008. She was born Nov. 26, 1913, in Casscoe to J.T. Robinson and Laura Elizabeth “Betty” Connelly Robinson. She was a member of Central Avenue United Methodist Church. Betsy was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Weldon Turley; her parents; two brothers, William Edward “Obin” Robinson and John Marion Robinson;’ four sisters, Christine Snodgrass, Dena Clerget, Minnie Ahrens and Wands Claussen. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Cantrell (Marwyn); grandchildren, Mandy Russell (Brian), Brad Cantrell (Monica), Shane Cantrell, Kevin Cantrell (Audrey); and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at 7 p.m. at Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Shiloh Cemetery in Crockett’s Bluff by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart. Marjorie Koch Marjorie Edith Koch, 89, of Stuttgart, widow of Frederick Koch, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Baptist Health in Little Rock. Mrs. Koch was born Feb. 19, 1919, in Dardanelle, Ark., to Robert Lee and Delia Jane Young Farmer. She was a retired lab and x-ray technician and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wilburn Farmer; and a sister, Betty Nobles. Survivors are a son, Don Koch of Humphrey; a daughter, Pat LaCotts and husband Toppy of Stuttgart; three grandchildren, Lisa Meredith, Melissa Dunbor and Guy Meredith; two great-grandchildren, Jimmy Meredith and Andra Stain; and a great-granddaughter, Graci Stain. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Jack Gillam, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery. "Billy" Goode Charles W. “Billy” Goode, 80, of Stuttgart passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock. Mr. Goode was born July 23, 1928, in Humphrey. He was a dairy farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.O. and Audrey Gibbs Cardin; a brother, Carroll Cardin; and the mother of his children, Louise Goode. Survivors are two sons, Charles Goode of Little Rock and Bob Goode of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Brenda Longnecker of Stuttgart and Theresa Smith of Little Rock; two brothers, Malvin Goode of Cabot and Floyd Goode of Perryville; two sisters, Margaret Mitchell of Millington, Tenn., and Hazel Lyons of Cabot; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Turpin Funeral Home with visitation one hour before funeral time. Burial will follow in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart. Lila Ewing Jennings Bormann Lila Ewing Jennings Bormann, 91, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, Aug. 15, 2008. She was born Nov. 5, 1916, in Kay County, Okla., on the family farm claimed by her grandfather in the Cherokee Strip land rush of 1889. She was the youngest survivor of eight daughters and one son born to Joseph David and Mary Parks Jennings who raised their children near the railroad community of Hunnewell, Kan. Her math professor father took the family on long road and train trips each summer to tour the nation’s landmarks during the 1920s. Young Lila rode a burro to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and saw Mount Rushmore when it only had three faces. Each Jennings child was expected to learn to play at least one instrument. She attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, an institution known for its arts programs. She played the violin, piano, organ and harmonica well into her 80s. Lila married Robert James Bormann on his birthday, Aug. 16, 1936, in Mission, Texas. Both Robert and Lila served the Lord in their church and community. They served as Sunday school teachers, counselors for church youth groups and Stuttgart’s interdenominational teen-age Bible club. They were prayer supporters for many, many people. As God blessed their efforts they loved to share with others here in Stuttgart and around the world. Jesus Christ made the difference in their lives and those who were blessed by them. Roberts preceded her in death three days after their 60th wedding anniversary. The current farm west of Stuttgart is now home to a fourth generation. The Bormanns were active members of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church for 40 years before transferring membership to their son’s church. Lila held many UMW offices with a special interest in missions. All three children she raised went into professions of serving others. She was an early member of the local Fine Arts Club which established the annual Arts Festival held each fall. Lila enjoyed discovering more about her family tree which had many branches traversing historical events and people including explorer Henry Hudson and British peerage. Years of daily journals recorded travels and visits with family and friends. Her reserved, quiet nature hid many fascinating stories and detailed observations. The tornado of May 10 displaced her from Crestpark of Stuttgart to Springbrook Center in Hazen. Survivors include three children, Elizabeth Williams of Atlanta, Ga., David (Lidia) Bormann of Trieste, Italy, and Rev. Thomas (Garon) Bormann of Stuttgart. There are 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren in the United States, Italy and Granada. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Grand Prairie Evangelical Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart. Memorials are requested to be given to Grand Prairie Evangelical Methodist Church, P.O. Box 728, Stuttgart, AR, 72160. The family would like to thank the many caregivers who have loved Lila in recent years including private sitters, the staff of Crestpark in Stuttgart and the staff of Springbrook of Hazen. Dr. Dennis Yelvington, Dr. Noble Daniel, Dr. Albert Squires and other doctors all had a vital part in the quality of life she enjoyed. The nursing staff of Stuttgart Memorial Hospital tenderly provided both the patient and family with incredible support in her final days. A final word of their (Robert and Lila) life testimony would be “Be sure you give your heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord!” Doris M. Kreimeyer Doris Marie Kreimeyer, 74, of Ulm passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, in Little Rock. She was born Aug. 21, 1933, in Holly Grove to Lorenzo and Massie Garner Chastain. Doris was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and served on the Altar Guild. She was also a hairdresser and dedicated homemaker. She was an extensive world traveler and lived for extended periods in Nicaragua, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Germany. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Bill Jim, Thomas, Hilton and Calvin; and four sisters, Jewel, Sadie, Hazel and Virginia. Survivors are her husband, Robert Kreimeyer; two sons, Raymond Kreimeyer and wife Tammy and Victor Kreimeyer, all of Cabot; one brother, Stanley Chastain of Holly Grove; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Ulm with burial following in Ulm Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
