Pritchard
PARAGOULD -- Harry H. Pritchard Jr., 78, of Paragould died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Born at Paragould, he was a retired brakeman for the Union Pacific Railroad and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Pritchard of the home; one son, Michael Sims of Mims, Texas; four daughters, Carolyn Michael, Brenda Vester and Fran Summers, all of Paragould, and Linda Baker of Jefferson, Texas; one stepson, Bobby Yeargain of Harrisburg; one stepdaughter, Nova Grissom of Paragould; one brother, Jesse Tom "Bud" Pritchard of Humboldt, Tenn.; one sister, Becky Miles of Paragould; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry H. Pritchard Sr., and his mother, Dessie May Simmons Pritchard.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould, with M.W. Ray and Trumann Wycoff officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Frank Miles, Robby Arnold, Matthew Garrett, Jeremy Huggins and Josh McFall.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Scudder
NEWPORT -- James E. Scudder Sr., 64, of Newport died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 in Malvern. Born in Jackson County, he was a self-employed master plumber and contractor and was of the Church of Christ belief.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Askey Scudder of Newport; four sons, James Edward Scudder Jr., Michael Scudder and Christopher Bryon Scudder, all of Newport, and Darrell Scudder of Morrilton; a daughter, Sandy Renee Scudder of Newport; three foster daughters, Donna Middleton of Bradford, Rhonda Morris of Newport and Lona Perrin of Heber Springs; three brothers, Ernie Scudder and Buddy Scudder, both of Jacksonville, and Guy Wilson Scudder Sr. of Newport; a sister, Hazel Whybrew of Newport; and seven grandchildren, Steven R. Scudder II of the home and Micah Scudder, Maci Scudder, Christina Scudder, James Michael Scudder and Jillian Scudder, all of Newport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Etta Exie Brumley Scudder, and a son.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home, with James Duvall officiating. Burial will follow in Sandhill Cemetery at Auvergne.
Pallbearers will be Billy Reynolds Sr., Billy Reynolds Jr., Max Wilson, Steve Wilson, Tommy Bain, Harold Whybrew, Bobby Scudder and Charles Scudder.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Spinks
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Neely Spinks, 76, of Edwardsville, formerly of Knobel, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
Born at Knobel, he was a dockman, a Navy veteran of World War II and of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include three daughters, June Spinks of St. Peters, Mo., Vicki Moran of Hartfield, Ill., and Peggy Cline of Godfrey, Ill.; one son, William A. Spinks of St. Peters; two sister, Nola Whites of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Recena Krueger of Florissant, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Reece Spinks and Delphia Mae Murray Spinks; one daughter; and a brother.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ermert Funeral Home chapel in Corning, with the Rev. Jerry Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Bond Cemetery at Knobel.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Swetnam
SALADO -- Roger Swetnam, 57, of Salado died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 in Batesville. Born in Hardy, he was a member of Salado Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Veneda Swetnam of the home; three sons, Greg Gann of Jonesboro, Martin Gann of Southside and Matthew Gann of Salado; four daughters, Aleisa Hodgens of Atlanta, Diana Metcalf and Sherry Marshall, both of Jonesboro, and Chonalee Swetnam of West Warwick, R.I.; his mother, Thelma Rogers Swetnam of Hardy; two brothers, Gordon Swetnam of St. Charles, Mo., and Kenny Swetnam of Hardy; a sister, Sharon Madison of Lincoln, Neb.; and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Swetnam, and a sister.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at Salado Baptist Church, with David Wesley officiating. Burial will follow in Baker Cemetery at Hardy under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Tarver
TRUMANN -- Funeral services for Ruth M. Tarver, 82, of Trumann who died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First United Pentecostal Church in Trumann. The Revs. Murry Ray and Ricky Forbis will officiate, and burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery at Jonesboro under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Forbis, David Rogers, Raymond Whittingham, Charles Brewer, Chris Osment and Lee Osment.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the First United Pentecostal Church in Trumann.

Thompson
CHEROKEE VILLAGE -- Phyllis Thompson, 71, of Cherokee Village died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002 at Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehab. Born in Hornell, N.Y., she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin "Tom" Thompson of Cherokee Village; three sons, Stephen D. Thompson of Cherokee Village, F.V. "Lin" Thompson of Ripley, Tenn., and William P. Thompson of St. Louis; one daughter, Linda Beer of Monticello; and one brother, William A. Higgs of Lancaster, Pa.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Heath Funeral Home of Cherokee Village.

A. White
WYNNE -- Alvin Leon White, 66, of Wynne died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at Regional Medical Center of NEA.
Born in Hickory Ridge, he was an Army veteran, was retired from the former Halstead Industries in Wynne and was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Nepean White of Wynne; a son, Bryant White of Wynne; a sister, Earline Taylor of Wynne; three brothers, Wallace Vance, Joy White and Robert White, all of Wynne; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Joseph White and Celia Lucille Lumley White.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne, with the Rev. Archie Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery at Hickory Ridge.
Active pallbearers will be Dan Davis, Shane Taylor, Steve Vance, Wallace Vance Jr., David White and Tommy White.
Memorials may be made to the Cross County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

M. White
VALLEY PARK, Mo. -- Martha L. White, 84, of Valley Park, formerly of Paragould, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002 at Valley Park.
Born at Paragould, she was a retired nurse who had worked at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Biggs
Ada Elizabeth Biggs, 84, of Jonesboro died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Cavenar
CORNING -- Mary Cavenar, 87, of Corning died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 at her residence.
Born in Vincennes, Ind., she was a retired schoolteacher and librarian and was a member of the Home Extension Club and the First Baptist Church in Corning.
Survivors include two daughters, Estel Guthrey of Corning and Dorotha Hicks of Flippin; four stepdaughters, Glenda Carter and Sandra Smith, both of Corning, Marion Huett of Vilonia and Phyllis McKinney of Florida; a sister, Evelyn Lentz of Grand Blanc, Mich.; a brother, Kenneth Johnson of Cincinnati; two stepbrothers, John Jonas of Texas and Lloyd Jones of Missouri; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Cavenar, her parents, a sister, a brother, two stepbrothers and a stepsister.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Corning, with the Rev. David Richey officiating. Burial will follow in Corning Cemetery under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home of Corning.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Corning or to the Fidelis Sunday school class at the church.

Chase
ASH FLAT -- Rose Chase, 86, of Ash Flat died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehab.
Born in Silver, Manitoba, she was a retired beautician and a member of a bowling league and Newhaven Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Richard Shewchuk of Henderson, Nev.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Newhaven Baptist Church. The body will be cremated under the direction of Heath Oak Hill Chapel Funeral Home of Hardy.
Memorials may be made to Newhaven Baptist Church.

French
Funeral services for John William French, 77, of Jonesboro, who died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gregg Funeral Home, with Terry Joe Kee officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jarrod Hale, Rick White, Don Pulford, Randy Hood, Hansel Stephens and Dave Pearson.
Honorary pallbearers will include Lawrence Ford, Don Trice, Hubert Brodell, Ernie Howell, Randy Loyd and the men of Greensboro Road Church of Christ.
Born at Alabama, he lived in Jonesboro most of his life. A member of the Greensboro Road Church of Christ, he was the owner of French's Heating and Air. He served in the Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Kay French of the home; three sons, John French Jr. of North Little Rock and Jeff French and Kyle French, both of Jonesboro; one daughter, Jill Keats of Franklin, Penn.; two brothers, Erskin French of Moody, Mo., and Freeman French of Jonesboro; one sister, Viola Miles of Harrisburg; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Greensboro Road Church of Christ.
