JoAnn Longnecker
JoAnn Virginia Longnecker, 78, of Stuttgart died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.
Mrs. Longnecker was born Dec. 15, 1930, in Ulm to Elmer and Marie Ida Reitz and had been a lifelong resident of this area. She was a homemaker and member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. JoAnn loved life, Jesus Christ, family, friends, flowers, bird and her cat “Darby”.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Reitz Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Longnecker Sr.; two sons, Johnnie Longnecker Jr. and wife Brenda and Mike Longnecker and wife Kerri, all of Stuttgart; one brother, Eddie Reitz of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Marilyn Eifling of Ulm; two grandchildren, April Rogers and husband Bradley of Stuttgart and Megan McLain and husband Jay of DeWitt; and one great-grandson, Drew Rogers of Stuttgart.
Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Jack Gillam, are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Monday at Turpin Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorials be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Noah "Sonny" McCarty
Noah “Sonny” McCarty Jr., 74, of Humphrey died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at Stuttgart Regional Medical Center.
Mr. McCarty was born Nov. 18, 1934, in Jefferson County to Bessie May McCarty and Noah McCarty Sr. and had been a lifelong resident of this area. He was a retired auto mechanic and a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maudie McCarty, and four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors are two sons, Michael McCarty and Warren McCarty, both of Humphrey; one daughter, Mary McCarty of Humphrey; and three sisters, Lucy Stewart (Ray) of Humphrey and Mary Turney and Becky McCarty of Stuttgart.
Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Pete Bowen, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial following in Sunshine Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home.

Jennifer Gill Morris
On Jan. 1, 2009, Jennifer Marie Gill Morris, 36, of Hazen went home to be with Jesus.
She was born Nov. 11, 1972, in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1991. Jennifer was a three-time Women’s World Champion duck caller. She was employed at Mack’s Prairie Wings for 10 years where she was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jackie Hoyet Gill.
She is survived by her mother, Beverly Gill of Ulm; one sister, Jennie Orsburn of Ulm; two nieces, Lori Ann and Jordon; her loving partner, Rita, and her children, Hydi, Camron and Wade; and one granddaughter, Emily of Hazen.
Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Thomas Bormann, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial following in Ulm Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Turpin Funeral Home.
Jennifer will live on through many people’s lives that she has touched – her friends, her family, her co-workers and even those ducks!
But for now, these words she would say to you – “Bye, bye, now – I’ll see you soon!”

Ric L. Watkins
Ric L. Watkins, 54, of Conway, formerly of Brinkley, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009.
He was born May 8, 1954, in Stuttgart, a son of the late Harrison Watkins and Pat Watkins and Dr. and Mrs. J.W. Moffat. He was a graduate of England Academy in England, Ark., and attended Arkansas State University. He farmed with his father for several years before farming independently in Woodruff County. He later became a sales representative and manager of Kennedy Well Works, Inc. until his retirement in 2002.
Ric was a member of the Arkansas Water Well Contractors Association, where he served as vice president and president. He was the Monroe County chairperson of the Ducks Unlimited Chapter for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brinkley. He was an avid golfer and the ultimate outdoorsman. Ric felt his greatest accomplishment in life were his two daughters, Brandi and Rixie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harrison Watkins of Stuttgart.
Survivors include his parents, Pat Watkins of Cabot, Arkansas, and Dr. and Mrs. J.W. Moffat of Rancho Mirage, California; a brother, Haron Watkins and wife Barbara of Cabot, Arkansas; two daughters, Brandi Watkins Adams and husband Brandon of Jonesboro and Rixie Watkins of Conway; and two grandchildren, Blakely and Barrett Adams.
Graveside services, officiated by Dr. Sam Roberts, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Lone Tree Cemetery chapel. Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. Monday at Turpin Funeral Home.

Robert Linden Jackson
Robert Linden, (R. L.) Jackson, age 92, of Humphrey, Arkansas, passed away January 9, 2009, at the Crestpark Convalescent Home in Stuttgart. He was born October 11, 1916, in England, Arkansas. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Dickens in the Southern Pacific. He was a farmer, a former alderman for the city of Humphrey, and a member and deacon of the Humphrey Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margarette Krisell Jackson of Humphrey; one daughter, Janice Ray and her husband Thornton of El Dorado; one son, Rev. Robbie Jackson, of Clarksville, Arkansas; four grandsons, David, Bruce and Sidney Jones of El Dorado and Joe Ray of Arkadelphia; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at Humphrey Baptist Church, Humphrey, Arkansas, at 2 p.m., Monday, January 12, with Rev. Robbie Jackson and Rev. Luke Criswell officiating. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery, Stuttgart, Arkansas.
Visitation will be conducted Sunday, 2-4 p.m., at Turpin Funeral Home, Stuttgart, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Turpin Funeral Home, Stuttgart, Arkansas.

Everett M. Meadows
NORTH LITTLE ROCK – Everett Marlin Meadows, 87, formerly of Stuttgart, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at John McClellan Veterans Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born Oct. 23, 1921, in Pocahontas, Ark. He retired after 21 years as a police office with the City of Stuttgart and was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Sonny Hurt, Lloyd Hurt and Floyd Cooper.
Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Daisy Meadows; three sons, William Everett Meadows of Corpus Christy, Texas, Frank E. Campbell of White Hall and Jerry W. Campbell of Little Rock; one brother, David Hurt of Marmaduke; two sisters, Sylvia Smith of Marvell and Mary Warren of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren
A graveside service with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Arkansas State Veterans’ Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Ave., in North Little Rock by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home.

John Marvin Bagwell
John Marvin Bagwell, 93, of Stuttgart, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Crestpark in Stuttgart.
Mr. Bagwell was born Feb. 17, 1915, in Hagler, Ark., the son of John and Ossie Maddox Bagwell. He was a farmer and a Baptist.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John E. Bagwell.
Survivors are his daughter-in-law, Claudette Bagwell of Stuttgart; one grandson, Shane Bagwell of Humphrey; a great-granddaughter, Kirstin Bagwell of Humphrey; and several nieces.
Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Luke Criswell, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Turpin Funeral Home.
His family requests memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
