Russell Charles Minton Russell Charles Minton, 77, of Little Rock, formerly of Stuttgart, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at St. Vincent’s Health Center. Mr. Minton was born June 27, 1931, at Naylor, Ark., to Charles and Nettie Eddins Minton. Following high school graduation, he continued his education at Woodward School of Photography in Memphis and was an Air Force veteran. While living in Stuttgart, he was actively involved with the Stuttgart Jaycees implementing the organization’s annual Christmas Tree Sales. From 1964-1979, he was owner and operator of The Studio and the Dairy Queen. After relocating to Little Rock, he pursued his photo business at The Photo Shop until his retirement in 1994. He was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife, Joann Shirkey Minton; daughter, Joanette Garwood and husband Scott of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Linda Minton Harrison and husband Jimmy of Springdale; two grandsons, Grant Minton and Garrett Jay Garwood of Fort Worth; and five nieces. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Turpin Funeral Home at Stuttgart with visitation from 12 p.m. until funeral time. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association or the donor’s choice. Carmen Drotar Lee Our beloved Carmen D. Lee, 51, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away March 18, 2009. She was born January 12, 1958, in Stuttgart to Adelaide and Robert Drotar. She attended Mount Saint Mary’s Academy in Little Rock. Carmen was a caregiver for Home Instead, where she used her vibrant smile and personality to brighten the days of the elderly. She was a fantastic cook. A devoted Catholic, she was a member of Saint John the Baptist Church. Carmen is predeceased by her father and a sister, Monica Lane. Loving survivors include husband, Bill Lee, of Hot Springs; mother, Adelaide Drotar, of Slovak, Ark.; son, Nickolas Woody and his wife, Elizabeth, son, Keith Woody and his wife, Kristi, daughter, Ashlee Woody, all of Cordova, Tenn.; step-son, Gary Lee and his wife, Patti, of Ft. Worth, Texas; sister, Paula Coburn, and her husband, Bill, of Stuttgart; sister, Karen Fitts, and her husband, Chester, of Hot Springs; brother, Terry Drotar, and his wife, Gayle, of Germantown, TN; brother, John Drotar and his wife, Pam, of Slovak; her aunt, Agnes Fowler, of Hot Springs; and eight nieces and nephews. Carmen is also survived by the apple of her eye, her precious granddaughter, Andalyn Rain Woody and grandson, William Keith Woody. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Friday, March 20, at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Slovak. Burial mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gary Lee, Kyle Griffin, Nickolas Woody, Keith Woody, John Drotar and Terry Drotar. Meta Jane Flippo In loving memory of Meta Jane Flippo, born Feb. 10, 1962, in Stuttgart, passed away March 23, 2009. She was always willing to help out and put others before herself. A volunteer at Camp Aldersgate, she always had a smile on her face even though she was in pain – other people still came first. She loved to deer hunt, ride four-wheelers and ride the roads, and loved cooking for family and friends. Surviving family members and friends are Mark Hicks of Little Rock; her canine companion Rebel; Scotty Holbert and wife Desaray of Dardanelle; granddaughter, Kirstin; grandson, Coleman; brothers and sisters, George Harriman and wife Linda, William Harriman, Nancy Vergason, Vicky Liker; half-brothers and sisters, Walter Harriman Jr., Ralph Harriman, Jenny Mae Harriman; nieces and nephews, David, Pam and husband Gary, Kerrie and husband Jeff, Adam and wife Brandi, Valerie, Katy and husband Stephen, Angie, Tim and wife Jessica, Tammy and Misty; and many great-nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Hospice Home Care, 4300 Bowman Rd., Little Rock, AR 72210. Jo L. Rosecrantz Jo L. Rosencrantz III, 75, of Stuttgart passed away March 25, 2009, at home. Jo was born Sept. 20, 1933, in Stuttgart. He grew up on the family farm near Goldman, Ark., where he attended elementary school. He attended Stuttgart High School where he was a member of the Arkansas State Championship Ricebird football team of 1949. He served as Student Body President his senior year of 1951. He attended Vanderbilt University on a football scholarship before joining the U.S. Army toward the end of the Korean War. When he returned from Korea, he attended the University of Houston working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He returned to Stuttgart to farm on the family farm. He married Shirley Ann Gillcoatt on July 23, 1960, at Lodges Corner United Methodist Church. A retired farmer, he was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Jo was a third-generation member of the Board of Directors for Farmers Protective Insurance Company for 50 years, serving as president of the board for 31 of those years. He was currently president of Farmers Protective Insurance Agency. He loved to work crossword puzzles in ink, read mystery novels, play the piano, listen to country western music and sports including football, golf, hunting and fishing. Most of his life, he was a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, but later joining Lodges Corner United Methodist Church. Jo was preceded in death by his parents, Jo Lecyle Rosencrantz Jr. and Kathryn Quinn Rosencrantz of Stuttgart; his paternal grandparents, Joseph Lhamon Rosencrantz Sr. and Florence March Rosencrantz of Stuttgart; maternal grandparents, Joseph Harvey Quinn and Malinda Carolyn Argo Quinn of Trezvant, Tenn.; his uncle, E.C. “Clyde” Walker; and aunts, Jessie Jo Quinn Walker and Ilma R. Harris. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gillcoatt Rosencrantz; one son, Jo Lester Rosencrantz of Bozeman, Mont.; two daughters, Angela Ann Rosencrantz of Stuttgart and Leigh Rosencrantz Davis of Texarkana, Texas; and one much loved grandson, Walker Noel Davis of Texarkana, Texas. He also leaves behind many friends and extended family. Memorial services will be Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at Lodges Corner United Methodist Church, 2533 Hwy. 165, Stuttgart, with visitation following. Lucy Pranter Lucy Mae Pranter, 78, of Hot Springs, formerly of Stuttgart, died Friday, April 3, 2009. She was born Dec. 17, 1930, in Humphrey to Deliah and Willie Thurgood and was of the Pentecostal faith. Preceding her in death were her parents; one grandson, John Pullman; and one great-granddaughter, Elana Pullman. Survivors are four daughters, Sue Ornderff of Conway, Connie Vaseur (Robert) of Stuttgart, Ann Pullman of Stuttgart and Sheila Gallon (Madison) of Hot Springs; three brothers, Tommy Thurgood (Zelma) of Carlisle, Eugene Thurgood (Reasel) of Rison and Ray Keaton of Humphrey; three sisters, Pat Buterbaugh of Austin, Ann Rainey of Humphrey and Glenda Barnes of Harwood, MD.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. William Woods, are 2 p.m. Monday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial in Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 until funeral time. Neenah Sue Hampton James CANTON, Ga. – Neenah Sue Hampton James was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Stuttgart, Ark., the oldest daughter of Bill and Alice Hampton. Sue departed this life on Saturday, April 4, 2009. She is survived by her husband, William T. James; son, Russell Hampton James and wife Debi; daughters, Neenah Kay Hajik and husband Charley; and Karen Sue Cutler and husband Chris; sister, Kay Blaskovics and husband Tom; grandchildren, Christopher Cutler, Neenah Cutler, Russell Hampton James II and Jennifer James-Schlicting; and great-grandchild, Nikolai Schlicting. Sue was a loving mother and wife, music lover and accomplished pianist, and was a patron of the arts. She was gracious and charitable with both her time and talent. Sue graduated valedictorian of her class at Stuttgart High School in 1952. She attended Sophie Newcomb College of New Orleans and graduated cum laude from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1956. She attended LSU graduate school as a music and education major. She taught at Stuttgart High School. Sue worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines and donated her time to the Methodist Church and many charities serving the needy. A graveside service will be Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Bayou Meto Cemetery.
