Floyd Brown On this day, December 9, 2009, Floyd Brown, 76, of Stuttgart has gone to take his place with the Lord. He was born August 5, 1933, in Choctaw, Oklahoma, the son of the late Orion A. and Beatrice Jane Brown. After serving in the Korean War he returned to Arkansas in 1955 to spend the rest of his life as a devoted father, faithful husband and servant to his Lord. He was in welding equipment sales for 50 years retiring after 42 years at Welsco and then working five years at Air Gas. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Sarah Katherine Brown, daughter, Vickie Fowler of Stuttgart; two sons, Terry Brown of Bryant and Darren Brown and wife Tricia of Roe; three brothers, Tommy Brown and wife Doris of Plummerville, Lee Brown of Nemrod and Paul Brown and Debbie of Oppelo; three sisters, Joyce Driggers of Pottsville, Betty Faye Kettle and Charles of Harris Brake and Mary Jane Story of Adona; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Gregg Greenway, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church. A private burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery in Alexander by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart. Visitation is 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at Turpin. The family requests memorials be made to Southside Baptist Church, 402 E. 19th St., Stuttgart. Carla A. Etter Carla Ann Moritz Etter, 62, of Stuttgart died Monday, December 14, 2009, at her home. Carla was born July 19, 1947, in Stuttgart to Herbert and Lucille Henderson Moritz. She was a graduate of Stuttgart High School and was retired from the Department of Human Services. She was preceded in death by her father. Survivors are one son, Dion Etter and wife Erica and their son, Austin of Stuttgart; her mother, Lucille Moritz of Stuttgart; and one sister, Jeanette Erstine of Stuttgart. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sunshine Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart. Memorials may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Stuttgart. George William Woerner Jr. George William Woerner Jr., 83, of Stuttgart died Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Baptist Health Medical Center-Stuttgart. Mr. Woerner was born July 28, 1926, in Stuttgart to George William Woerner Sr. and Pearl Anne Davis Woerner. He was a graduate of Stuttgart High School and the University of Houston where he received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and member of First United Methodist Church. Following employment at Fairbanks and Morse and Stuttgart Machine Works, he retired from Riceland Machine Supply. He was an avid golfer and Boy Scout troop leader, but his favorite activity was taking his grandsons hunting and fishing. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Sue Woerner in 2005; and two step-sisters, Kate Davis and Mildred Mounce. Survivors are four children, Cynthia Woerner McCarty and Debra Woerner Meins (Danny) of Stuttgart, George “Buz” William Woerner III (Jayne) of Russellville and Lisa Woerner Henderson (Steve) of Stuttgart; brother, Jack Woerner of Waverly, Tenn.; sister, Minnie Strabala of Stuttgart; nine grandchildren, Chris McCarty, Matt McCarty, Justin Meins, Jenny Nelson, Julie Isaacson, Zach Woerner, Lance Woerner, Hunter Henderson and Tyler Henderson; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Museum of the Arkansas Grand Prairie. Rebecca Sue Conrad Rebecca Sue Conrad, 61, of Stuttgart died Monday, December 21, 2009, at her home. Becky was born March 10, 1948, in Stuttgart to Charles and Marie Hancock Richenback. A 1966 graduate of Stuttgart High School, she received her Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Arkansas State Teacher’s College in Conway. She had taught for 36 years in districts including Fountain Lake, Brinkley and Stuttgart. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and for several years was chairperson of the “Lights of Love” at Baptist Health Medical Center-Stuttgart. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Clotene Sanders; and brothers, Bobby Richenback, James Ernest Richenback and Glen Richenback. Survivors are a daughter, Michelle Conrad of Booneville; brothers, Butch Richenback and Jimmy Richenback of Stuttgart and Charles Richenback of Tennessee; sisters, Charlene Rundell of Stuttgart, Martha Summerford of Arkadelphia, Maxine Dallari of Pine Bluff; one grandson, Tyler Uptigrove; as well as fellow teachers and students whose lives she has touched throughout her life. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Turpin Funeral Home. Estella Ann Timmerman-Findley Estella Ann Timmerman-Findley, age 92 of Stuttgart, Arkansas, died at Baybrooke Village Care and Rehab Center in McKinney, Texas, on December 31, 2009. She was born October 7, 1917, in Ulm, Arkansas, to the late L.G. and Rouina Timmerman. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and St. Johns Ladies Aid. She worked at Farmers and Merchants Bank for almost 30 years. Estella Findley, better known as Estelle, was granted her angel wings on December 31, 2009. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in large and small ways throughout her long and very memorable life. After spending eight days in the hospital with a mild form of pneumonia, Estelle was then transferred to a rehabilitation facility where she was making great strides in getting her strength back to normal. Christmas day was filled with family, food, and laughter. She was looking forward to the New Year. The day of her passing she was “showing off” her physical stamina by impressing us with her ball throwing and dribbling skills. She could almost out walk us down the hallway with the help of a rolling walker. She even had her hair set at the hair salon. We all felt that she would soon be home in another week. That evening, while fast asleep, her ninety-two year old heart just gave out around 11 p.m. Estelle always told a good story and was a generous and giving woman. She lived and enjoyed a full life and went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived a life wrapped in the love of Jesus. She would have us remember one thing: know Jesus, live, walk, trust and rest in Him. Our family cherishes the memories of her faithful love for all, which was rooted in Jesus’ faithful love for her. She will be missed greatly by her family and everyone who knew her. She will be buried in her beloved home of Stuttgart, Arkansas, in Lone Tree Cemetery following a funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Visitation is 5-7 Saturday at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart. She was preceded in death by her husband Miles A. Findley, and her brother Sidney Timmerman. Survivors are her daughter Carolyn Ann Steelman of McKinney, Texas, and her brother Clifford Timmerman of Ulm, Arkansas. Other members of the family include five grandchildren, Robin Whitehead and husband Michael, Kim Cuban and husband Jeff, Allison Carter, Alan Steelman Jr. and Alex Steelman, all living in Dallas and McKinney, Texas. The four, sweet, great-grandsons include Christopher and Garrett Whitehead, Miles Cuban and Nate Carter. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the charity of their choice. Emma Lea Shirkey FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Emma Lea Shirkey, 90, formerly of Stuttgart, died Saturday, January 2, 2010. Ms. Shirkey was born Nov. 5, 1919, in Carlisle to Emmett and Essie Welch Griffin. She was a graduate of Carlisle High School and was a beautician. She was a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee. Survivors are her son, Dr. Wayne Lee and wife Carolyn of Fort Lauderdale. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor George Rook, are 2 p.m. Saturday at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
