Dorothy Jane Pearson
Dorothy Jane Pearson, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior January 17 at the Russellville Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born June 19, 1926, in Carlisle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Bro. Paul Pearson. Dorothy was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Stuttgart. She fulfilled one of her deepest loves of missions by serving many years as the WMU Director for Centennial Baptist Association.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Doyle; and three brothers, Melford Stauber, Alfred Stauber and Kelly Stauber.
Survivors are one son, Kelly (Trudy) Pearson, Russellville; one daughter Paula (Larry) Groak, Stuttgart; three grandsons, Mitchell Pearson, Gordon Pearson and Luke Pearson; three granddaughters, Elizabeth Barnett, Natalie Barnett and Jessica Winningham; one great-grandson, Alec Pearson; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service, officiated by Bro. Gregg Greenway, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Turpin Funeral home with burial following in Carlisle Cemetery. Visitation will precede the service from 1-2.
Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund.

Glenn E. Rabeneck
Glenn E. Rabeneck, 85, of Stuttgart died Thursday, January 28, 2010, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Stuttgart on January 20, 1925. He was a retired farmer, a World War II veteran and a devoted husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldor and Lucille Rabeneck.
Mr. Rabeneck is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gert; two brothers, Don Rabeneck of Stuttgart and Ralph Rabeneck of Beebe; two sisters, Ruth Biela of Springfield, Missouri, and Wanda Phelps of Stuttgart; two sons, Jim Rabeneck (Lindy) and David Rabeneck (Debbie) of Stuttgart; two daughters, Betty Reece (Terry) of North Little Rock and Alice Crawley (Keenan) of El Dorado; eight grandchildren, Brandon Rabeneck, Jenny Wallace, Jeff Grimmett, Ryan Rabeneck, Sally Anderson, Brett Rabeneck, Amy Crawley and Kristin Crawley; one great-grandchild, Haedon Rabeneck; and numerous step-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Turpin Funeral Home.
Memorial can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Doris Saul Beck
Doris Saul Beck, 95, of Stuttgart died February 3, 2010. Born August 17, 1914, in Stuttgart, she was the daughter of Earl and Amy Rhodes. She attended public schools in Stuttgart and received a BA degree from Hendrix College in Conway along with an art degree from Central in Conway. She taught in Stuttgart and Humphrey schools and gave private art lessons. She worked at Denman Jewelers in Stuttgart for 40 years.
Mrs. Beck was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Stuttgart serving on various boards and committees. She also served as an officer in the First United Methodist Women. She was a life member of the National Federation of Music Clubs and long-time member of the Stuttgart Fine Arts Club. She served on the Hendrix Alumni Board of Governors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Floyd Saul; and her second husband, the Rev. R.O. Beck. Survivors include two step-children, Jim Beck and Kathy Kirk.
Mrs. Beck shared her wonderful artistic abilities by drawing many pictures of brides, children, grandchildren, homes and establishments in Stuttgart. She was a wonderful cook and host, and known as a premier lady dressed to the “T”.
Visitation will be Friday, February 5, at 1 p.m. preceding the service at 2 p.m. at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart. Services will be conducted by the Rev. David Bush and the Rev. Bill Elliott. Interment will follow at Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice.

The Rev. Ernest Millard Simpson
The Rev. Ernest Millard Simpson, 99, of Stuttgart, Arkansas, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Baptist Health-Stuttgart.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010, at Turpin Funeral Home with the Rev. Arnold Gwathney and Sam Funderburg officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. (one hour prior) to the funeral service.
Rev. Simpson was born October 15, 1910, in the Keevil Community, son the late Ollie McDuff Simpson and Allie Gunter Simpson. He lived and farmed in the Banner Community. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the South Pacific Island of Saipan.
He became an ordained minister and pastored the Full Gospel Christian Church in Stuttgart for 40 years.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Willie Maurine Wooten Simpson, two sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by a daughter, Gloria Dawn Hidle (Charles) of Columbus, Georgia; a son, Billy Ernest Simpson (Irma) of Stuttgart; three grandchildren, Marty Holfsted, Donna Baber and Andy Hidle; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to Full Gospel Christian Church, P.O. Box 366, Stuttgart, or the donor’s choice.

Frank McNeese
HAZEN, Ark. – Frank McNeese, 81, former Stuttgart resident, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at his home. Following his retirement after 20 years with the Stuttgart Fire Department, he retired from the Stuttgart Water Department after 20 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; a granddaughter, Erin McNeese; and his sister, Carolyn Bentley.
Survivors are two sons, Allan (Barbara) McNeese of White Hall and Robert (Becky) McNeese of Jacksonville; daughter, Nancy McNeese of Hazen; brothers, Thomas, Richard and Billy Joe McNeese; sisters, Barbara Ward and Irene Starks; six grandchildren, Brandon (Angie) McNeese and Nicholas (Natasha) McNeese of White Hall, Scott (Kristi) McNeese and Christopher McNeese of Jacksonville; Alexandra McNeese of Geridge and Arianna McNeese of Hazen; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service, officiated by his grandson Bro. Scott McNeese, is 2 p.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 1 p.m.

Benny "Hacksaw" Turner
Benny “Hacksaw” Turner, 71, of Stuttgart died Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Baptist Health-Stuttgart.
Mr. Turner was born July 15, 1938, in DeWitt to Johnny Franklin Turner and Ella Mae Heird Turner. He was a retired truck driver and a Baptist.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Brekhus.
Survivors are sons, Benny Turner Jr. (Rita) of Carlisle and Eddie Turner (Jean) of Chickasha, Oklahoma; daughter, Ella (Cissie) Heird (Danny) of Hot Springs; brother, Billy Turner of Coyle, Oklahoma; sisters, Rosie Adams of Mayflower, Martha Jane Blasier (Lyle) of Coyle and Hazel Robnett and Rita Turner of Stuttgart; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial in Forks LaGrue Cemetery in DeWitt.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home.
The family will be at 1001 N. Lowe, Stuttgart.

Carlos Gene Kestner
ALMYRA, Ark. – Carlos Gene Kestner, 79, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Baptist Health-Little Rock.
Mr. Kestner was born January 13, 1931, to Albert Ralph Kestner and Walzy Vos Kestner. He was a farmer and member of Almyra Methodist Church.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Yocharlsae Martin Kestner; and a brother, Marvin Ralph Kestner.
Survivors are four daughters, Diane Kestner Smith of Madison, Mississippi, Yocharlsae Kestner DesLauriers of Suwannee, Georgia, Nancy Kestner Rabeneck of DeWitt and Sandra Kestner Ballew of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; one sister, Faye Marie Relyea of DeWitt; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services, officiated by Dr. Ted Edmondson, are 1 p.m. Saturday at Almyra Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday at Turpin Funeral Home.
The family requests memorials to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Almyra Methodist Church.
