McDaniel
LAKE CITY -- Mildred McDaniel, 83, of Lake City died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2002 at her residence.
She had moved to Lake City 17 years ago from St. Louis. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lake City.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Homer McDaniel of the home; two daughters, Jean Martin of Lake City and Shirley Wester of St. Louis; two brothers, Thomas Metcalf of St. Louis and Jay Spillman of Linn, Mo.; three sisters, Sue Rogers of Lake City, Ethel Mae Lee of Jasper, Fla., and Edith Cole of Hornersville, Mo.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pine Log Cemetery, with Scott Miller officiating. Emerson Funeral Home of Lake City is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

McElroy
Johnnie McElroy, 77, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at Regional Medical Center of NEA.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Muir
NEWPORT -- Junior Muir, 73, of Newport died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at Newport. He was a retired truck driver for Wal-Mart and of the Church of God belief.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky Muir of Jonesboro and Danny Muir of Hardy; one daughter, Brenda Delk of Jonesboro; one half brother, John Muir of Weldon; seven grandchildren, David McCollum, Daniel Muir, Crystal Delk, Robin Muir, Amanda Muir, Kimberly Muir and Danny Muir; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Guy Muir; his parents, Guy Muir and Nettie Talley Muir; his stepmother, Eva Abner Muir; one brother; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home chapel, with Edwin Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Sandhill Cemetery at the Auvergene community near Newport.
Pallbearers will be David McCollum, Daniel Muir, Micheal Quinn, Dwayne Quinn, John Gillian and Doyle Fowler.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Soward
MELBOURNE -- Mildred Walker Soward, 81, of Melbourne, formerly of Jonesboro, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 in Searcy.
She was a member of the Prospect Baptist Church in Jonesboro, worked in retail sales here and was employed as a nursing aide at Pioneer Nursing Home in Melbourne.
Survivors include one sister, Zela Robbins of Searcy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Riley "Bill" Soward, her parents and four brothers.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Jim Collins will officiate, and burial will follow at Combs Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Dean Walker, Donald Black, Bill Hames, Greg West, Randy Eligh and Steve Feather.
Honorary pallbearers will include Roy Walker, Ray Walker, Gary Walker, Kern Robbins, Le Roy Robbins, Levon Hames and Wayne Hopper.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Taylor
WALNUT RIDGE -- Carl Taylor, 71, of Walnut Ridge died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Allen
PALM HARBOR, Fla. — Brian Patrick Allen, 28, of Palm Harbor, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 in Palm Harbor.
Born in Denton, Texas, he grew up in Jonesboro and was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He worked in construction and was a 1993 graduate of Jonesboro High School. He was a Boys State Delegate in 1992 and attended Arkansas State University.
Survivors include one son, Kayde Dorton of Jonesboro; his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Jimmy Casey of Jonesboro; his father and stepmother, Ted and Sue Allen of Contoocook, N.H.; one brother, Scott Allen of Jonesboro; one stepbrother, Brian Casey of Little Rock; two half brothers, Ted Allen Jr. of Manchester, N.H., and D.V. Allen of Tampa, Fla.; one stepsister, Jennifer Stanage of Whitehall; one half sister, Dana Naghtin of Tampa; his maternal grandmother, Helen Flemon of Jonesboro; and his paternal grandparents, Dianne Allen of Tampa, Fla., and Ray and Mary Casey of Jonesboro.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ferrel Flemon.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jack Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery at Jonesboro.
Pallbearers will be Eric Burch, Robert Packard, Kevin Richardson, Adam Edmonds, Allen Flemon and Mickey Stafford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Thompson, Hardy Little, Bill Langston, Greg Stemac, Johnny Ward, Jim Maddox, Richard Wayne Jernigan, Paul Stemac, Zack Stanage and Dennis Calaway.
Visitation will be from 5:30-8 p.m. today at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home. Rosary will be said at 5 p.m.

Clark
CHERRY VALLEY — William “Bruce” Clark, 92, of Cherry Valley died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003 at his residence.
Born in Fayette, Ala., he worked as a farmer for more than 70 years before retiring in 1993. He was an active member of Cherry Valley Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include three sons, Nixon Clark of Cherry Valley, Terry Clark of Vanndale and Joseph Clark of Jonesboro; three daughters, Willodean Shannon of Kansas City, Kan., Reba Adams of Conway and Rebecca McDaniel of Potts Camp, Miss.; one sister, Ruthie Nichols of Columbus, Miss.; three brothers, Rayburn Clark of Pontiac, Mich., and Samuel Clark and the Rev. Carlos Clark, both of Columbus; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Addie Lee Nichols Clark; one son, Larry Clark; two sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cherry Valley Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Tyer Cemetery in Cherry Valley under the direction of Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of Wynne.
Pallbearers will include Chris Adams, Adam Clark, Aubrey Clark, B.J. Clark, Eric Clark and Steve Faupel.
Honorary pallbearers include Milton Morgan, Charles Smith, Charlie Thomason and Richard McDaniel.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Cherry Valley Baptist Church.

Collier
Billy J. Collier, 65, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.
Born in Mississippi, he was retired from the Air Force and was of the Methodist belief. He had lived in Jonesboro 16 years.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Collier of the home; one son, Steven Collier of San Antonio; three daughters, Teresa Collier of Bluefield, Va., Lisa Nietfeld of Nowata, Okla., and Jennifer Bryant of Fayetteville; his stepmother, Dorothy Spigner of Tupelo, Miss.; one brother, Glendon Spigner of Tupelo; two sisters, Martille Askew and Brenda Pearce, both of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Dena Lumbang, Danny Pannell, Steven Pannell and Jason Collier; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tommy Toombs officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chad Dalton, Randy Ferguson, Bob Forrest, Lloyd Somers, Dan Nietfeld and Calvin Coles.
Robert Hodgman will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Bernard’s Heart Care Center or Arkansans for Animals.

Cummings
CAMPBELL, Mo. — Helen Lorene Cummings, 93, of Campbell, formerly of Piggott, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at Piggott Community Hospital.
A graduate of McKendree College in Illinois, she had worked as a teacher and was a member of National Education Services and Hopewell General Baptist Church in Greenway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Cummings, her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home in Piggott, with Boyd Wicker and Otis Book officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway.
Pallbearers will be Wade Smart, John Daniel Smart, David Mann, Jeff Mann, Johnny Wade Schmidt and Tony Mann.
Honorary pallbearers will include Charlie Minton, Jim Poole, Don Poole and Cleveland Daffron.

Eagan
PARAGOULD — Scott E. Eagan, 29, of Paragould died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 in Paragould.
Born in Benton Harbor, Mich., he attended New Beginnings Church.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Eagan of Paragould; his parents, Charles and Sandra Hyde Eagan of Paragould; one daughter, Monica Eagan of Paragould; a paternal grandmother, Marian Brogdon of Conroe, Texas; maternal grandparents, Willie and Imogene Hyde of Paragould; and one brother, Bradley A. Eagan of Paragould.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greene County Memorial Gardens, with Larry Bulla officiating. The funeral procession will leave Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould at 9:50 a.m.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gervasi
CHEROKEE VILLAGE — Dominick Gervasi, 73, of Cherokee Village died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003 at his residence.
Born at Chicago, he was formerly of Elmwood, Ill., and was a retired metallurgical engineer for A. Finkl and Sons. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church at Cherokee Village.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Tutte Gervasi of Cherokee Village; one son, Christopher Gervasi of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one daughter, Danette Kimmel of Villa Park, Ill.; one brother, Anthony Gervasi of Ontario, Calif.; one sister, Connie Green of Mount Prospect, Ill.; and four grandsons.
He was preceded in death by one son.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Tri-County’s Cherokee Chapel of Highland is in charge of arrangements.
