Doris Rhea Waters Burt
(August 3, 1922 - August 6, 2010)
Doris Rhea Waters Burt age 88 of Mena died Friday, August 6, 2010 at home.
She was born August 3, 1922 to George Washington and Esther May Kenworthy Waters in Mena, Arkansas, where she spent her youth on the family farm.
Doris graduated from Mena High School. At the age of 20 and during World War II, she moved to Washington D. C. to accept a stenography position with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Still in Washington after the war, Doris met Stanley Allen Burt of Utica, Minnesota and they married in 1949. They lived and raised their two sons in northern Virginia until Stanley's retirement in 1974, when they returned to Mena to enjoy many years of family, community, travel and tending to their lovely farm in Old Dallas. Doris pursued many interests, but was especially fond of family and flower gardening. Doris and Stanley were members of First Baptist Church of Mena.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her two brothers George Waters and Louis Waters, both of Mena.
Survivors include two sons Kenneth Burt and wife Laura of Reva, Virginia and Ronald Burt and wife Sherin of Nashville, Tennessee; one sister Audrey Hollington of Mena, Arkansas; five grandchildren Ian Burt and Matthew Burt of Reva, Virginia, Allen Burt of Chicago, Illinois, Mackensie Burt of Nashville, Tennessee, Lucy Burt of Nashville, Tennessee; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 2:00 P. M. the First Baptist Church in Mena with Dr. David McCord officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Dallas Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Services are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Burt, Ian Burt, Allen Burt, Nat Ferry, Garrick Ferry and Chris Masters.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Neil Cook.

Georgie Harp Ladd
(October 1, 1936 - August 2, 2010)
Mrs. Georgie “Harp” Ladd, age 73, of Cove, Arkansas, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at her home. She was born October 1, 1936 in Fairfield, Texas to the late Eugene Harp and the late Lockie Page Bullock Harp. She was united in marriage to Hugh Ladd. Georgie was a homemaker and was a loving wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is survived by:
Husband: Hugh Ladd of the home
Sons: Alton Aaron of Mobile, Alabama Donald Aaron and wife Leone of Cove, Arkansas Daughter: Drucilla Black of Conroe, Texas
Stepson: Donald Ladd and wife Linda of Baytown, Texas
Stepdaughters: Patricia Housham and husband Phil of Gainsborogh, England Michelle Thompson and husband Robert of Houston, Texas Jolene Wren and husband Norman of Houston, Texas
Brother: Reuben Harp and wife Loretta of Splendora, Texas Hollis Harp of Splendora, Texas
Sister: Jean Taylor and husband Jack of Hutchins, Texas
18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Willie and Burt Harp, and a stepson, Hugh Ladd, Jr.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 2:00 p. m. at Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene at Cove with Brother Steve Bradley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mena Hospice.

William Jerld McCulley
(February 14, 1930 - August 2, 2010)
Mr. William Jerld McCulley, age 80, of Livingston, Texas, formerly of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 in Livingston. He was born February 14, 1930 in Hatfield, Arkansas to the late Omer McCulley and the late Lillie Mae Williams McCulley. He was united in marriage to Lena Ola Dunagan McCulley for 57 years. He was a logger by profession and was a faithful member of the Southside Church of God. Jerld resided in Mena for the 54 years, until recent months when he resided in Livingston, Texas due to health issues.
He is survived by:
Wife: Lena Ola Dunagan McCulley
Sons: Larry Wayne McCulley and wife Eulene of Mena, Arkansas Jerry Glen McCulley and wife Pat of Livingston, Texas Danny Lee McCulley and wife Jeannie of Springdale, Arkansas
Grandchildren: Jared McCulley, Larin McCulley and wife Jessica, A. J. McCulley, Samantha McCulley, Robert McCulley, Levi McCulley and Tristian McCulley.
Sister: Opal Summers of Harrisonville, Missouri
Nephews: Lee Summers of Mena, Arkansas and Dewayne Summers of Branson, Missouri
Nieces: Ginger Lunsford of Mena, Arkansas and LaDonna Malone of Lakenheath AFB, England
A host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 6, 2010 at 10:00 a. m. at the Southside Church of God, with Brother Kenny Posey and Brother Charley Wiles officiating. Interment follows in Westview Cemetery at Cove under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Southside Church of God, 101 Dallas Ave., Mena, AR 71953. A visitation will be Thursday evening, August 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jared Glenn McCulley, Larin Wayne McCulley, A. J. McCulley, Lee Summers, Troy Lunsford, and Daryn Wiles.

David Shawn Blankenship
(December 25, 1969 - August 30, 2010)
Mr. David Shawn Blankenship, age 40, of Mena, passed away Monday, August 30, 2010 in Mena.
He was born December 25, 1969 in Grants Pass, Oregon to David Wayne Blankenship and Barbara Ruth May-Blankenship. He was a forklift operator at Sterling Machinery and was a loving son, brother, and friend.
He is survived by:
Father: David Wayne Blankenship of Springfield, Oregon
Brother: Bryan Richard Blankenship of Pineville, Oregon
Sister: Kristi Ann McKenzie
David was sent for cremation under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 10:00 a. m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel.

Susan Castner
(August 15, 1959 - August 23, 2010)
Susan Castner, age 51, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Mena, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 in Hot Springs. She was born August 15, 1959 in Mena, Arkansas to the late Walter Penn Williams, II and to Esther Ryals Williams. She was united in marriage to Jack Castner. She was in administration in the Arkansas Rehabilitation Center and was of the Methodist faith. Susan was a loving daughter, wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by:

Husband: Jack Castner of Hot Springs, Arkansas
Daughter: Shannon Hoffman and husband James of Rogers, Arkansas
Step-son: Adam Castner of Ft. Smith, Arkansas Step-Daughter: Melinda Card of Ft. Smith, Arkansas

Sister: Belinda Seaton of Mena, Arkansas

Funeral services will be Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:00 a. m. in the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Mel Wilson officiating. Interment follows in Six Mile Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be general.

Michael Outenreath
(March 5, 1943 - August 22, 2010)
Michael J. Outenreath, age 67, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 in Mena. He was born March 05, 1943 in Bronx, New York to the late James Outenreath and the late Ann Smolak Outenreath. He was married to Sharon White. Michael worked for American Airlines in fleet service. He was a loving husband, father, brother and a friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by:
Wife: Sharon Outenreath of Mena, Arkansas
Daughter: Micheil Shadden and husband Justin of Germany
Brother: James Outenreath of Fort Worth, Texas
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ann Outenreath.
Mr. Outenreath was sent for cremation under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. A celebration of Mike’s life will be Saturday, August 28, 2010 at, 1:00 p. m. at his home, 276 Polk 61, Mena.

Clara Hopper Johnson
(September 24, 1939 - August 21, 2010)
Clara Ellen Hopper Johnson, age 70, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 in Mena.
She was born September 24, 1939 in Zafra, Oklahoma to the late Isaac McLain Hopper and the late Mina Jane Hyde Hopper. She worked as a waitress for several years. Clara was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to everyone who knew and loved her.
She is survived by:

Daughter: Phyllis Cline and husband Don of Honobia, Oklahoma
Sisters: Esta Jenkins and husband Jim of Yakima, Washington Norma Jean McCoy of Moore, Oklahoma

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Mina Hopper, son, Kenneth Roberts, brothers, Charles Hopper, Edward Hopper, Calvin Hopper, Pete Hopper, and sister, Roberta Walters.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:00 a. m. Pleasant Hill cemetery at Hatfield, Arkansas with Brother Brandon White officiating under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
