Ethma May Larsen

Ethma May Larsen, age 99, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 in Mena.
She was born March 5, 1911 in Kirksville, Missouri to the late William Gordon Seay and the late Edith McClanahan Seay. She was united in marriage on January 6, 1930 to Bill Larsen, who preceded her in death in 1969. She was a floor lady at a box factory and was of the Methodist faith. She was a loving aunt, great-aunt, and friend.
She is survived by:
Nephews: Richard Kern and wife Pauline of Mena, Arkansas William Kern and wife Elaine of Midland, Michigan
Nieces: Dianna Hemann and husband Vernon of Des Moines, Iowa Kay Carlson and husband Greg of Chanhassen, Minnesota
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edith Seay, her husband, Bill Larsen, and a sister, Leda Benson.
Mrs. Larsen will be interred in Jane Cemetery in Jane, Missouri. There are no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Ava Marie Aleshire

Ava Marie Aleshire, infant daughter of Christopher and Shannon Aleshire of Hatfield, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in Ft. Smith.
She is survived by:
Parents: Christopher and Shannon Aleshire of the home
Sister: Elaina Aleshire of Hatfield, Arkansas
Grandparents: Terry and Cheryle Crawley of Bentonville, Arkansas Jeremy and Jeanie Lee of Norman, Arkansas Garry and Sherri Aleshire of Mena, Arkansas
Uncles & Aunts: Shane and Dala Aleshire of Cove, Arkansas Will and Brandi Squires of Black Springs, Arkansas
Cousins: MaKenzie, Katie, and Brody Aleshire of Cove, Arkansas
Great- Grandparents: Lenard and Jean Aleshire of Board Camp,, Arkansas Rusty and Letha Gonzales of Mena, Arkansas
She was preceded in death by her Great-Grandfather, Gene Gentry.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 01, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Shane King officiating. Interment will follow at Board Camp cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Joyce Eldridge Liles
(May 24, 1923 - December 29, 2010)
Mrs. Joyce Eldridge Liles, age 87, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at her home.
She was born May 24, 1923 In Beachton, Oklahoma to the late George T. Morris and the late Sylvia A. Autry Morris. She was united in marriage to the late Jesse Eldridge until his passing, and then to the late Lloyd Liles. She was a dental assistant by profession and was of the Pentecostal faith. Mrs. Liles was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by:
Daughter: Brenda J. Cecil of Mena, Arkansas
Son: Jay A. Eldridge and wife Julie of Kelseyville, California
Brother: Dale Morris
7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sylvia Morris, her first husband, Jesse Eldridge, her second husband, Lloyd Liles, and 2 sons, Victor C. Eldridge and Jesse C. Eldridge.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 10:00 a. m. at the United Pentecostal Church in Mena with Brother Jack Smith officiating. Interment follows at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening, December 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Charles Wayne Lance, Marvin Yahn, Christopher Cox, Bart Boehler, Tim Rodgers, and Brett Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Rodgers, Raymond Yahn, Dale Morris, and Lee Quinn.

Roger W. Burk
(September 20, 1963 - December 26, 2010)
Roger W. Burk, age 47, of Cove, Arkansas passed away Sunday December 26, 2010 in Mena.
He was born September 20, 1963 in San Joaquin, California to the late Donald L. Burk and late Wilma L. Taylor Burk. He was a logger by profession. He was a loving brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by:
Sister: Rhonda Miller of Mena, Arkansas
Brothers: Donald Burk and wife Darlene of Cove, Arkansas Gerald Burk and wife Brenda of Vandervoort, Arkansas Gary Burk and wife Chera of Cove, Arkansas
Many nieces, nephews and friends
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Wilma Burk.
Mr. Burk was sent for cremation. Memorial service will be Wednesday. December 29, 2010, 10:00 a. m. in the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Donnie Edwards officiating under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. .
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Beasley-Wood Chapel from 6:00-8:00 p. m.

Jewell Hughes
(March 29, 1932 - December 26, 2010)
Jewell Hughes, age 78, of Mena, passed away Sunday December 26, 2010 in Mena.
She was born March 29, 1932, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late George D. Crosson and late France Morgan Crosson. She was a bookkeeper by profession and a member of Dallas Avenue Baptist Church. Jewell was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and a friend to all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by:
Son: Russell Hughes and wife Vicki of Mena, Arkansas
Grandsons: Cody Hughes and wife Bethany of Mena, Arkansas Teal Hughes of Fayetteville, Arkansas
Great-grandsons: Cooper Hughes of Mena, Arkansas Wilson Hughes of Berryville, Arkansas Hunter Cannon of Mena, Arkansas
Sister: Chyrline Copes of Mena, Arkansas
Many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and France Crosson, husband, Delbert Hughes, and sister, Loraine Crosson
Graveside services will be Thursday, December 30, 2010, 1:00 p. m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park with Brother Donnie Edwards officiating under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
Family and friends visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Beasley-Wood Chapel from 6:00 -8:00 p. m.

Charles W. Valentine
(July 1, 1926 - December 26, 2010)
Charles W. Valentine, age 84, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 in Mena.
He was born on July 01, 1926 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was married to Linda Cameron Valentine. Charles worked in a sawmill by profession. He was a loving husband, step-father, grand-grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by:
Wife: Linda Valentine of the home
Step-Children: James Earl Simmons, Jr. of Mena, Arkansas Elizabeth Arbuthnot of Mena, Arkansas Jackie Simmons of Waldron, Arkansas
Step-Grandchildren: Traven Simmons of Waldron, Arkansas Ronald Arbuthnot of Mena, Arkansas
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grand-daughter, Shaylee Simmons
Mr. Valentine’s body was sent to University of Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

Herbert Richard Evans
(January 4, 1940 - December 24, 2010)
Herbert Richard Evans, age 70, of Idabel, Oklahoma, passed away December 24, 2010 in Idabel. Oklahoma.
He was born January 4, 1940 in White Deer, Texas to the late Orphus York Evans and late Maggie Belle Harrah Evans. Herbert was a logger by profession. He was a loving father, brother, and friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by:
Children: Mary Jane Evans Abney of Waldron, Arkansas Richard Jessie Evans Schrimps of Sheboygan, Wisconsin Jessica Kay Evans Schrimps of Sheboygan, Wisconsin Scott Mark Evans Schrimps, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Sisters: Joyce Ann Dunigan of Loving, Oklahoma Mae Belle Shaddon of Mena, Arkansas
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orphus and Maggie Evans and brother, Carl Dean Evans.
Graveside services will be Friday, December 31, 2010, 1:00 p. m, at Concord Cemetery at Ink, Arkansas under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
Family and friends visitation will be Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 6:00 -8:00 p. m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel.

Hazel Murray
(January 27, 1921 - December 22, 2010)
Hazel Murray age 89 of Wickes, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Ft. Smith.
She was born on Thursday, January 27, 1921 to Jessie Lee and Lunda Jacobs Sanders in Wickes. Hazel was a very independent person and was a stickler to details. Everything had its place. Hazel also had a long working career in the telephone industry. She was the first switchboard operator that Wickes ever had and worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. She started there working about the age of 18. She then moved out to Coolidge, Arizona to continue her career and retired some 40 years later from Quest Telephone. Her career was one of her greatest accomplishments in life. Hazel also loved to travel with her husband and go flying in his plane. She was an avid golfer, loved crocheting afghans, and to play dominoes with her friends. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a Christian.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Murray; one brother, Odis Sanders; one sister, Icyphine Chapman; and two nieces Barbara Hutchinson and Hope Huddelson.
Survivors include two nephews, Leroy Sanders of Wickes and Bertrand Sanders of Mena; one niece Leola Rye of Wickes; ten great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 2:00 P. M. at the Hatton Baptist Church with Miles Callahan officiating. Interment will follow in the Witherspoon Cemetery in Vandervoort. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
Pallbearers will be John Willard Hill, Weldon Rye, John Weldon Rye, Mike Callahan, Eric Sanders and Kenny Werst.
