Norma Dean Cunningham
(March 9, 1933 - December 11, 2010)
Norma Dean Cunningham, age 77, of Mena passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 in Mena.
She was born March 9, 1933 in Rocky, Arkansas to the late Josh Scott and the late Hulda Reynolds Scott. She was united in marriage to James Grant Cunningham. Mrs. Cunningham was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Survivors are:
Son: James “Jim” Cunningham of Waldron, Arkansas
Daughters: Thelma Thompkins of Waldron, Arkansas Mary “Maxine” Stark of Gillham, Arkansas Maggie Stark of Waldron, Arkansas Agnus Parnell of Mena, Arkansas
19 Grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Josh and Hulda Scott, her husband, James Grant Cunningham, a son, Earnest Cunningham, a daughter, Kathryn “Penny” Wax, a brother, Bill Scott, and 3 sisters, Frona Fryer, Willie Pruitt, and Aileen Thacker, and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 17, 2010 at 2:00 p. m. at the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Richard Larue officiating. Mrs. Cunningham will be sent for cremation following the service under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Cunningham’s grandchildren.
A visitation will be Thursday, December 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 p. m. at the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Wilba Marie Embry
(July 28, 1923 - December 11, 2010)
Wilba Marie Embry, age 87, of Mena passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 in Mena.
She was born July 28, 1923 in Ink, Arkansas to the late Leonard Andrew Rosson and Pearl May Cottman Rosson. She was united in marriage to Clyde Embry. Mrs. Embry was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Survivors are:
Son: Dale Embry of Mena, Arkansas
Grandsons: John Embry and wife Kendra of Mena, Arkansas David Embry and wife Jan of Hot Springs, Arkansas Steve Embry and wife D. J. of Boonville, Arkansas
Granddaughter: Amanda Embry of Prairie Grove, Arkansas
Brother: Hollis Rosson and wife Linda of Ink, Arkansas
Several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Pearl Rosson, her husband, Clyde Embry, her brothers, Artie Rosson and DeRoy Rosson and her sister, Flossie Wilcox.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 2:00 p. m. at the Concord Cemetery in Ink, Arkansas with Brother Bobby Rosson officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Visitation with family and friends will be Tuesday, December 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Bobby Gene Miller
(October 4, 1939 - December 11, 2010)
Bobby Gene Miller age 71 of Cherry Hill died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Mena Regional Health System.
He was born Wednesday, October 4, 1939 to Charles Monroe and Arnetta Susan Bow Miller in Cherry Hill. Bobby was a very simple man and enjoyed the small things in life. He was and outdoorsmen and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His family was also important to him and spending time with them. He loved to ride 4-wheelers and being with his dog, Buddy. He was a professional truck driver for most of his life and loved to listen to country music.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Roy and Willie Miller and one sister Loraine New.
Survivors include three sons, Bryon Miller and his wife Nikki of Eaton, Colorado, Tommy Miller of Delight, Arkansas and Dwayne Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter, Trish Miller of Allen, Texas; one brother, Roy Miller of Cherry Hill; two sisters, Inamae Standridge of Mena and Wanda Dowdy of Potter; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah and Holly Miller of Eaton, Colorado, Abigail Miller of Delight, Arkansas, Paula Lindy of Texas, Christopher and David Hampton of Texas; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cremation services are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena. No services are planned at this time.

Melvin Eugene Benson, Sr.
(March 8, 1944 - December 10, 2010)
Mr. Melvin Eugene Benson, Sr., age 66, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 at his home.
He was born March 8, 1944 in Palo Alto, California to the late Lowell H. Benson and the late Willie Mae Boyd-Pyle. He was united in marriage to Pamela Lynne Wedgeworth on December 23, 1982 in Magnolia, Arkansas. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by:

Sisters: Donna S. Dumas and husband John of Hamburg, Arkansas Jackie Beaty of Mena, Arkansas Joyce Watts and husband Sam of Mena, Arkansas Valerie Ritchie and Ray Wedgeworth of Monticello, Arkansas 9 grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents Lowell and Willie Mae Pyle, 3 brothers, Sammy Crews, Jr., John M. Crews, and Michael McCravens, and a sister, Shirley M. Chellette.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10:00 a. m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Victor Rowell officiating. Interment follows in Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening, December 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ronnie L. Watts, Jr., John Dumas, Stephen Dumas, Martin Dollarhyde, Donnie Dollarhyde and Jonathon Woody.

Patti McCord
(March 28, 1963 - December 10, 2010)
Patti McCord, age 47, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 at her home at 11:11 a. m.
She was born March 28, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Leroy McCord and the late Shirley Mathies McCord. She was a homemaker and was a loving companion, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed by those who loved her.
She is survived by:

Daughters: Shirlee McCord of DeQueen, Arkansas Candas Yearian of Mena, Arkansas Dakota Kennedy of Mena, Arkansas Sons: Timothy McCord and wife Kim of Kenosha, Wisconsin William McCord and wife Katherine of Mena, Arkansas Joshua McCord of Mena, Arkansas Ryan McCord of Mena, Arkansas Patrick Mallman of Mena, Arknasas
Sister: Jeanne Stone of Two Rivers, Wisconsin Brothers: Johnny McCord of Two Rivers, Wisconsin Douglas McCord of Two Rivers, Wisconsin
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Shirley McCord.
Mrs. McCord was sent for cremation under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. No services have been scheduled at this time.

R L Williams
(March 1, 1929 - December 10, 2010)
Mr. R L Williams, age 81, of Ludlow, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 at his home.
He was born March 1, 1929 in Ludlow, Oklahoma to the late Billy C. Williams and the late Emmer L. Mowdy. He was married to Gloria LaVonne Seals for 49 years before her death in 1998. He was a faithful member and deacon of the Octavia Baptist Church. Mr. Williams was a retired Rawleigh Products salesman and was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by:
Sons: Jimmie Williams and wife Martha of Tulsa, Oklahoma Jerry Williams and wife Marsha of Paris, Texas Daughter: Donna Watson and husband Wes of Garvin, Oklahoma
Brother: J D Williams of Louisville, Kentucky Sisters: Mina Williams of Bache, Oklahoma Leona Denton of Zafra, Oklahoma
15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Williams, his parents, Billy and Emmer Williams, five brothers, a daughter, LaVonne Pilon, and a great granddaughter Esther Travis.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 2:00 p. m. at Octavia Baptist Church with Brother Ed Rodgers officiating. Pallbearers will be the six grandsons, Greg Williams, Clay Williams, Nick Williams, Andrew Williams, Shawn Reeder and Samuel Duffy. The Octavia volunteer Fire Department will escort the procession. Interment will follow in Ludlow Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Monday evening, December 13th from 6:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.

Julie Suzanne Shaw
(February 4, 1967 - December 9, 2010)
Julie Suzanne Shaw age 43 of Springdale died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at her home. She was born on Saturday, February 4, 1967 to Robert Lewis and Sue S. Smith Shaw in Mena.
Julie was a very giving person and loved to help people. She liked to volunteer helping homeless shelters. She was passionate about animals and rescuing them.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her brother, Joe Shaw of Big Fork; two nieces, Courtney Jo Shaw and Myranda Nicole Shaw both of Bentonville; two uncles, Matt Smith and John Smith both of Mena; one aunt, Carolyn Standridge of Mena; one former sister in law, Lisa Shaw of Bentonville; several cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 11:00 A. M. with Reverend Carl Palmer officiating at the Shady Cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Elm Springs Methodist Church P. O. Box 8, Elm Springs, Arkansas 72728.

Albert G. "A. G. " Gentry
(April 26, 1922 - December 9, 2010)
Albert G. “A. G. ” Gentry, age 88, of Wickes, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at his home. He was born April 26, 1922 in Van Alstyne, Texas to the late Albert G. Gentry, Sr. and the late Gertrude Jones Gentry. He was united in marriage for 64 years to Kathryn Wolf. He served as a battlefield medic in the United States Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He was owner and operator of A. G. Gentry Auto. He was active in the community and served as a school board member, Justice of the Peace and was a long time youth baseball organizer. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by:
Wife: Kathryn Gentry of Wickes, Arkansas
Daughters: Cheryl Claudine Sullivan of Texarkana, Texas Patsy Evers and husband Mickey of Texarkana, Texas Gina Rosson and husband Ricky of Wickes, Arkansas Sons: Larry Albert Gentry of Texarkana, Texas Michael Gentry and wife Marilyn of Texarkana, Texas Curt Gentry and wife Jan of Chandler, Arizona Brother: Albert Frank Gentry of Van Alstyne, Texas Sisters: Nina White of Decatur, Texas Ruthie Crawford of Mena, Arkansas Brenda Ellis of Tyler, Texas Marcelle Shelton of De Queen, Arkansas
17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Gertrude Gentry and by 6 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 13, 2010 at 11:00 a. m. at the Wickes Nazarene Church with Brother Leon McCleskey officiating. Interment follows in Daniel Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday evening, December 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Harlan Sullivan, Jason Evers, Brent Gentry, Matthew Gentry, Nicholas Rosson, Colten Gentry, Phillip Stayton, and Chris McGee. Honorary pallbearer will be Trenton Rosson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for A. G. Gentry Baseball Field to Wickes City Hall at P. O. Box 193, Wickes, AR 71973.
