Earl Ennis Haney
(August 30, 1924 - December 3, 2010)
Earl Ennis Haney age 86 of Mena died Friday, December 03, 2010 at his home. He was born on Saturday, August 30, 1924 to Ennis Earl and Ruby Lorraine Spicer Haney in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Earl lived his life by the Golden Rule and showed the love of Christ through his actions. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Mena, where he had served as Sunday school superintendent and also a teacher. Earl also had a love for his country. He served 23 years in the United States Army, enlisting at the age of 18, during the end of World War II. He continued his active service during the Korean Conflict then after that war was over, he retired from active service. Then the Vietnam War started, he rejoined the Army to help train and lead his troops. He was a well respected Commander and received the Silver Star and the Bronze Star for his efforts. He retired a First Sergeant in 1970. Earl’s military career was his greatest accomplishment. After retirement from the service he loved spending time with his wife, Rosemary and family. He loved to garden and raise his flowers. Anytime you came by his house he had flowers blooming. It would start in early spring and wouldn’t stop blooming till late fall. He also liked to remodel homes, interior design and beautifying places he came in contact with.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother William Haney.
Survivors include his wife Rosemary Haney of the home; one son and daughter in law Robert and Michelle Haney of Mobile, Alabama; three daughters and sons in law Ruby and Marty Mullins of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Sandra and Billy Burrows of Bowling Green, Virginia and Rosemary and Jon Johnson of Lincoln, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren, Mark Pitts, Jerry Pitts, Tommy Furrow, Donnie Furrow, Steve Furrow, Mike Furrow, Tammy Abedeljalil, Jennifer Haney, Aaron Haney, Melissa Haney, Rebecca Haney, Jon Johnson Jr. and Jared Johnson; thirteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 2:00 P. M at the First Assembly of God in Mena with Reverend Ron Tilley, Reverend Don Shipley and Reverend Norman Ward officiating.
Cremation services are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
In lieu of flowers memorial can be made to the American Cancer Society, 169 Hillcrest Lane, Mena, Arkansas 71953 and the First Assembly of God, 2111 Sutherland Drive, Mena, Arkansas 71953.

Florene Larraine Tribble
(February 28, 1921 - December 3, 2010)
Florene Larraine Bridges Tribble, age 89, of Mena, passed away Friday, December 3, 2010 at her home. She was born February 28, 1921 in Berryville, Arkansas to the late Burton Lee Owens and Evelyn Lorena Twombly. She was a cosmetologist by profession.
Survivors are:
Companion: Lloyd Tribble of Mena, Arkansas
Son: Lawrence Coonfield of California
Daughter: Mary Ellen Gray of Congress, Arizona
Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and Great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Judy Colleen Coonfield and Patricia “Patty” Bickle and Barbara Jean Kilgore.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 10:00 a. m. at the Pinecrest Memorial Park. Interment will follow under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Elton Doyle "Doc" Barrett
(March 3, 1928 - December 2, 2010)
Mr. Elton Doyle “Doc” Barrett, age 82, of Vandervoort, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2010 in Vandervoort. He was born on March 3, 1928 to the late Neal Barrett and the late Matilda Brun Barrett in Wickes, Arkansas. He was a timber worker and raised chickens for Lanes Poultry and then for Tyson. He was a long time resident of Vandervoort. Doc enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as with his many friends in Vandervoort. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by:
Sons: Bill Barrett and wife Sandy of Vandervoort Dwight Barrett and wife Darla of Vandervoort
Daughters: Peggy Sherrouse and husband Jim of Cove Gale Kuykendall of Vandervoort Eileen Tuttle and husband Jeff of Dierks Adopted Daughter: Frances Jewell and husband Keith of Cove
Brothers: Richard Barrett and wife Elaine of Vandervoort John Barrett of Vandervoort
Sisters: Ethel Barrett of Vandervoort Velma Rans of Vandervoort Verdie Harris of Vandervoort Bonnie Barrett of Vandervoort Sister in Law: Edna Mae Barrett of Vandervoort
19 grandkids and 11 great-grandkids, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Matilda Barrett, 3 brothers: Charlie, Pete and Wesley Barrett, and 3 sisters, Orena Milam, Maggie Sanderfur, and Pauline (Leaner) Dean.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 2:00 p. m. at the Vandervoort First Baptist Church with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. Interment follows in Witherspoon Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
A visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening, December 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Perry Barrett, Randy Milam, Keith Dean, Donnie Barrett, Alan Lowrey, Johnny Barrett, Hank Sanderfur, and Doug Beck. Honorary pallbearers are Sonny Dees, Buck Cureton, Bruce Cureton, Hilton Bell, Mike Rans, and Ricky Barrett.

Frankie Davis
(July 14, 1923 - December 3, 2010)
Frankie Davis age 87 of Mena died Friday, December 3, 2010 at Mena Manor. She was born on Saturday, July 14, 1923 to Frank M. and Emma Teague Roberson in Board Camp.
Frankie enjoyed many things in life. She liked to talk to her family and friends on the phone. She was very close to her sister, Vadis Scott. She was a homemaker and enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music and playing bingo at Mena Manor. In Frankie’s early life she was a model in California and went to modeling school while she was there. This was one of her greatest accomplishments in her life. She also like getting her hair done and wear lots of pretty hair clips. She also liked to wear several watches on her arms and show them off to her friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mena.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Scott Roberson, Busty Roberson and Hamp Roberson; two sisters Vadis Scott and Birdie Britton Bowden.
Survivors include two nieces, Nola Mae Henderson of Amarillo, Texas and Judith Roberson of Mena; one great nephew Roger Dale Henderson of Slayton, Texas; three great nieces Mareta English of Wichita, Falls, Texas, LaDale Scheller of Wichita, Falls, Texas and Cynthia Jane Henderson of Amarillo, Texas and a host of relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 10:00 A. M. at the White Oak Cemetery in Mena With Dr. David McCord officiating. No visitation is planned. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena.

Margarette Brock
(February 23, 1926 - January 27, 2011)
Margarette Brock, age 84, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 at McAlester Regional Health Center.
She was born February 23, 1926 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to the late Edgar Kuykendall and Momel Johnson Kuykendall. She was united in marriage to Sidney Brock. Mrs. Brock was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Survivors are:
Sons: Vernon Brock of Watson, Oklahoma John Brock of Watson, Oklahoma
Daughter: Sandra Bahe and husband Robert of McAlester, Oklahoma
Brothers: Floyd Kuykendall Frank Kuykendall
Sisters: Marie Stella Gathright
4 Grandchildren and 8 Great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Momel Kuykendall, her husband, Sidney Brock, her sister, Helen Brock, and her brothers, Bud Kuykendall and James Paul Kuykendall.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 31, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at the Watson Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Watson Cemetery in Watson, Oklahoma under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Visitation with family and friends will be Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Nicholson, Joe Duke, Joe Kuykendall, Jeff Kuykendall, and Dewayne Loyd.

Shirley Brown
(February 12, 1956 - January 25, 2011)
Shirley Brown, age 54, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in Mena.
She was born February 12, 1956 in Mena, Arkansas to James R. Brown and Mildred Simpson Brown. She was a homemaker and was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by:
Mother: Mildred Brown of Mena, Arkansas
Son: Michael Brown of Mena, Arkansas
Daughters: Amanda Brown of Springdale, Arkansas Angela Brown of Mena, Arkansas
Granddaughter: Kaylyn Brown of Mena, Arkansas
Brother: Steven Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma
Cousins: Dr. Sidney Simpson of Mena, Arkansas Marilyn Simpson Hopkins of Ft. Smith, Arkansas
Special Friend: Wayne C. Clement of Mena, Arkansas
Family Friends: John Carter of Hatton, Arkansas Mike Smith of Cove, Arkansas
She was preceded in death by her father, James Brown.
Ms. Brown was sent for cremation under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A memorial service will be Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at Salem Baptist Church with Brother Joe Cornelison officiating.

Leslie Newton Taliaferro
(December 1, 1923 - January 24, 2011)
Leslie Newton Taliaferro, age 87 of Mena died Monday, January 24, 2011 at the St. Joseph Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs. He was born on Saturday, December 1, 1923 to Ambrose and Lois Audrey Bilbrey Taliaferro in Fort Worth, Texas.
Leslie enjoyed many things in his life and the greatest of these was his love for his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Leslie was a World War II and Korean Veteran, serving in the United States Army Air Core. After his military service, Leslie became a policeman for the Dallas, Texas area and also worked as a postal worker for some time. After moving to the Mena, Leslie enjoyed being a cattleman. He was a member of the Mena First Baptist Church, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 year, Wilma Taliaferro of the home; one son and daughter in law Leslie Jr. and Susan Taliaferro of Sacramento, California; one daughter and son in law Virginia and David Topley of Fort Worth, Texas; one granddaughter Jennifer Paradise of Dallas, Texas; two sisters Wynlotta Hamilton and Sue Merritt both of Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and very good friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and friends may call the family anytime. Cremation services have been entrusted to the Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Salvation Army, 605 Magnolia, Mena, Arkansas 71953; St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 and Alzheimer’s Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1000, Chicago, Illinois 60611.

Daniel "Danny" Brown
(November 11, 1955 - January 23, 2011)
Daniel “Danny” Brown, age 55, of Board Camp, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 in Board Camp.
He was born November 11, 1955 in Mena, Arkansas to the late Jimmy Brown and the late Claudia Woods Brown. He was an auto mechanic by profession, and was also a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. Danny was of the Baptist faith and was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by:
Sons: Christopher Brown of Mena, Arkansas Jeremiah Brown of Wheatland, Wyoming
Daughter: Kizzie Brown of Wheatland, Wyoming
Grandchildren: Janice Brown of Wheatland, Wyoming Bradon Brown of Wheatland, Wyoming
Sisters: Michelle Baker of Mena, Arkansas Elizabeth McQuarrie of Mena, Arkansas
Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Claudia Brown, a brother, Douglas Brown and a sister, Janice Sauer.
Graveside services will be Friday, January 28, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at Board Camp Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Brown, Derek Davis, Brian Best, Michael White, Ricky Holiday, and Chris Brown.
