Peggy Gage
(August 13, 1941 - February 26, 2011)
Peggy Gage age 69 of cove died Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs. She was born August 13, 1941 to William Anthony Duym and Katherine B. Rice Duym in South Orange, New Jersey.
Peggy was a person of many loves in her life. She loved to be near her family and friends. She loved the outdoors and nature and enjoyed all of God's creations. She always looked forward to spring and the coming out of the Red Bud trees and Daffodils. She enjoyed wildlife as well as making sure her own animals were taken care of the very best way possible. She also bred Morgan horses and raised numerous Regional and National champions. She was a member of the American, New Jersey and Vermont Morgan Horse Associations. Raising these horses was her passion in life, and one of her greatest achievements. Another great love was driving her sports cars. She also loved cooking and collecting antiques.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister Caroline D. Braillard.
Survivors include her life partner of 25 years, Thomas Brough of Cove; one sister, Christine Berju of Hillsborough, New Jersey, one niece and nephew, Karen Martino and Thomas Spencer both of Glen Gardner, New Jersey; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 10:00 A. M. at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in care of Hall Funeral Home for Pleasant Grove Cemetery or the Humane Society of the Ouachita.

Betty Jacqueline Martin
(November 14, 1933 - February 24, 2011)
Betty Jacqueline Martin age 77 of Mena died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Advance Care Hospital in Hot Springs. She was born Tuesday, November 14, 1933 to Walter Jack and Sylvia Clementine Ross Pool in Groom, Texas.
Betty was a very loving person and loved taking care of her husband of 46 years Harold Martin and the daughter Lisa. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed her grandchildren also. She loved to watch and feed her birds and enjoyed the company of her cat. She had a great faith in Jehovah God and was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Mena. She enjoyed her church family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold Martin and one brother Ross Pool.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law Lisa and Wayne Hammond of Mena; one brother Larry Pool of Combes, Texas; two grandchildren Juston Wikel of Cove and Rebecca Cook of Mena; one great granddaughter Mikayla Cook of Mena; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 2:00 P. M. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cove with Jonathan Crouch officiating. Visitation will be general starting Monday, the 28th of February at Hall Funeral Service in Mena.

Mark Anthony Creel
(October 19, 1985 - February 24, 2011)
Mark Anthony Creel age 25 of Hatfield passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011. He was born on Saturday, October 19, 1985 to Tracy Creel and Kelly Pittman in Pasadena, Texas.
Mark enjoyed many activities with his family such as, riding 4-wheelers, driving back roads, going swimming at the creek, hunting for crystals, working on old cars and playing pool with his dad. His greatest enjoyment was his children. Mark worked in the Oil Field and a member of the Operators Union. He had the opportunity to travel to Canada to help build a SkidPro machine that aided in the pipeline industry. There are only 5 in the world and Mark was very proud of the fact he helped build and use the SkidPro.
Survivors include his father and step mother, Tracy and Shelly Creel of Hatfield; his mother Kelly Pittman of Houston, Texas; his wife Jessica Creel of Wickes, Arkansas; two sons Charles and Hunter Creel and one daughter Chelsea Creel all of Wickes; three brothers Scott Creel and Austin McCulley of Hatfield, Arkansas, Ty Beckwith of Wickes, Arkansas; one sister Brittany Fair of Smithville, Oklahoma; one nephew Brody Creel of Hatfield, Arkansas, several aunts and uncles and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service in Mark’s memory will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 2:00 P. M. at the Hall Funeral Service Chapel in Mena with Victor Anglin officiating.
Cremation services are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena.

Sadie M. Bryant
(February 16, 1925 - February 22, 2011)
Mrs. Sadie M. Bryant, age 86, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in Mena.
She was born February 16, 1925 in Robeline, Louisiana to the late Robert Lee Hall and the late Allie Claude Hubbard Hall. She was united in marriage to the late J. H. Bryant. She was a homemaker by profession and enjoyed reading, crocheting and was an avid fisherwoman. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend and will be missed by her loving friends and family.
She is survived by:
Grandchildren: Shellie Fairless of Hatfield, Arkansas Charles Bryant of Gadson, Alabama Toby Bryant of Gladewater, Texas David Bryant of Bay City, Texas Stephanie Bryant of Bay City, Texas Scott McPherson of Gladewater, Texas
Adopted Daughter: Meayrene Taylor of Mena, Arkansas
7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Allie Claude Hall, her husband, J. H. Bryant, a son, Charles Bryant, and one brother.
Mrs. Bryant was sent for cremation under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. The family plans to have a memorial service in Natchitoches, Louisiana at a later time.

Bertha Scovell
(April 16, 1928 - February 20, 2011)
Bertha Scovell, age 82 of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 in Mena.
She was born April 16, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, to the late John and Maybel Ghker. She was united in marriage to Charles Scovell. She was a homemaker and was a loving aunt and friend.
She is survived by:
Nephew: Bob Zakis of South Elgin, Illinois
Many other nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maybel Ghker, her husband, Charles Scovell, a daughter, Nina Scovell and 3 sisters.
Graveside services will be Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Rocky with Brother Lewis Martin officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
A visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday evening, February 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy Omerza Dix
(November 27, 1921 - February 19, 2011)
Dorothy Omerza Dix, age 89, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Mena, Arkansas.
Dorothy was born on November 27, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Joseph Omerza and the late Frances Traven Omerza. She was married to the late Francis Dix and was a graduate of Herzell Community College in Chicago. She worked as a secretary for the F. M. Dix Company and for 10 years served as secretary for the Polk County Judge. Dorothy also worked in the Medical Records Department at South Community Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a friend to all who knew her.
She was survived by:
Son: Ronald Dix and his wife Lanie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Daughter: Paula Brotherton and her husband J. V. of Mena, Arkansas
Grandchildren: Jeffery Brotherton and his wife Lori of Mena, Arkansas Greg Brotherton of Mena, Arkansas and his fiancé’ Tina Green of Bryant, Arkansas Jennifer Brotherton Woods and her husband Cody of Mena, Arkansas Great-Grandchildren: Macy, Madelyn, and Rhett Brotherton, Mason, Jake, and Mallori Brotherton, and Auden and Larson Woods. Numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Frances Omerza, two sisters Francie and Alice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 24, 2011, 10:00 a. m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Father Norbert Rappold as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home, with a Rosary being said at 7:00 p. m.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Kieren, Jeff Brotherton, Greg Brotherton, Cody Woods, Ken Schreiber, and Mike Medley. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Lee, Byron Tyler, J. V. Brotherton, and Robert Davis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Agnes Catholic Church Building Fund.

Howard "Son" Davis
(January 28, 1927 - February 18, 2011)
Howard “Son” R. Davis, age 84, of Watson, Oklahoma passed away Friday, February 18, 2011 in Mena.
He was born January 28, 1927 in Cove, Arkansas to the late Walter Davis and Amelia Cox Davis. He was married to the late Maxine Davis and the late Marie Davis. He served his country in the United States Army. “Son” was a lifetime farmer. Mr. Davis was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by:
Sons: Ray Davis and wife Charlene of Plunketville, Oklahoma Raymond Davis of Sallisaw, Oklahoma
Grandchildren: Hayle Davis, Rachael Davis, Dakota Lambert, Kyle Lambert, Shannon Carter, Nicki Thomason, and Walter Davis.
Eight Great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Amelia Davis, first wife, Maxine and second wife Marie, and one sister.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 21, 2011, 10:00 a. m. at Panther Creek Christian Church in Watson, Oklahoma with Brother Cody McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Grove cemetery in Cove, Arkansas under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
Visitation will be general.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Rathbun, Rickey Zanzeberg, Fred Zanzeberg, Ron Smith, Kevin Campbell, and James Gunn.

Ursula Maria Ziem Green-Sandine
(January 29, 1939 - February 17, 2011)
Ursula Maria Ziem Green-Sandine, age 72, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Mena.
She was born January 29, 1939 in Darmstadt, Germany to the late Ernst Ziem and the late Emily Schaefer Ziem. She was united in marriage to Frank Sandine. In 1964 she became a naturalized citizen of the United States and worked in the sales and retail field. She was a loving wife, mother, step-daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by:
Husband: Frank Sandine of Mena, Arkansas
Sons: Michael E. Green and wife Starr of Broken Bow, Oklahoma Patrick A. Green of Mena, Arkansas Howard Alan Sandine of Conway, Arkansas Stephen Dale Sandine of Ulm, Arkansas Jason Mark Sandine of Stuttgart, Arkansas
Daughters: Elizabeth A. Scott of Mena, Arknasas Christine M. Cox and husband Garry of Mena, Arkansas
Step-father: Lincoln A Giest of New Hampshire

Graveside services will be Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park with Brother Roger Bishop officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral home.
Visitation will be general.

Louise Smith
(November 6, 1946 - February 16, 2011)
Louise Smith, age 64 of Watson, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011 in Tulsa.
She was born November 6, 1946 in Talihina, Oklahoma to the late James Ray and the late Florence Harley. She was united in marriage to Delane Smith. Louise retired from the Oklahoma Forestry Department after 35 years of loyal service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She is survived by:
Husband: Delane Smith of the home
Sons: Wingo Smith and wife Phyllis of Tower City, North Dakota Brad Smith and wife Andrea of Watson, Oklahoma
Daughters: Rachel Mitchell and husband David of Owasso, Oklahoma Lynn Nipper and husband Lannon of Watson, Oklahoma

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Ray and Florence Harley, 2 brothers, and her first husband Roger Dwain Smith.
Funeral service will be Sunday, February 20, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at Sulphur Springs Missionary Baptist Church at Watson with Brother Randy Keiss and Brother Todd Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Watson Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Saturday evening, February 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
