Willard Washington Boyt
(September 15, 1924 - March 28, 2011)
Willard Washington Boyt age 86 of Oden died Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Mena Regional Health System. He was born on Monday, September 15, 1924 to Fred Washington and Maggie Pearl Stephens in Parma, Missouri.
Willard served his country in the United States Navy and was discharged honorably. He also was a truck driver most of his life and was able to see the beauty of our great country. Willard enjoyed fishing, gardening and keeping his yard pretty. In his later years he worked at the ranger station in Oden and was highly commemorated as one of the best park attendants they had at the time. He was very proud of his work.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Georgia Boyt; three brothers, Jack Boyt, Howard Boyt and Homer Boyt and three sisters, JoAnne Goode, Bernice Thompson and Mildred Lape.
Survivors include his daughters, Lynda Buse and husband Bobby of Oden. Diana, Peggy and Alice Ann; one son, Joey; two brothers Marion Boyt of Mena and Robert Boyt of Tennessee; one sister, Hilda Mullineaux of Bakersfield, California; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Friday, April 1, 2011 at 10:00 A. M. at the Pencil Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 6-8 P. M. at the Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
Charles Thomas "Tommy" Lowrance
(April 4, 1947 - March 28, 2011)
Mr. Charles Thomas “Tommy” Lowrance, age 63, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at his home.
He was born April 4, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Charles Thomas Lowrance and the late Mary E. Cullen Lowrance. He was united in marriage to Fran Carver. He was a kidney dialysis technician in California and Oklahoma and was also a veteran, serving his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing with his family and his friends and was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend.

Sister: Mary Beth Deramus of Louisville, Texas
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Lowrance was sent for cremation under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mena with Brother Charley Griffith officiating.
Charlie Forest Parker
(March 19, 1919 - March 28, 2011)
Charlie Forest Parker passed from this life on March 28, 2011 at the age of 92 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
He was born near Sidney, a community in Comanche County, Texas, March 19, 1919. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Catherine Standridge Parker, also his parents, William Leroy Parker, and Nancy Matilda Johnson Parker, and all his brothers and sisters, Tom Parker, William “Bill” Parker, Flora Chandler, Dixie Horton, William “Shorty” Parker, Robert Eargle Parker, Othel Whisenhunt, Odell Parker, and Pete Parker.
He is survived by his children, La Nelle and Orville Norris of Booneville, Arkansas and their son, David Drew and his wife Denise Norris of Humble, Texas, and Cathy and Ken Marshall of Mena, Arkansas and their daughter, Leah Marshall of Paragould, Arkansas and son Aaron and his wife Kendra Marshall of Van Buren, Arkansas.
For many years Charlie was a deacon and active member of the Acorn Baptist Church, but in later years became a member of the First Baptist Church in Mena.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother David McCord officiating. Interment follows in Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, March 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lower Big Fork Cemetery

Mary Ann Martin
(January 17, 1911 - March 26, 2011)
Mary Ann Martin, age 100, of Mena passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 in Mena.
Mary was born January 17, 1911 in Black Fork, Arkansas to the late Lee Davis and the late Mandy Lane Davis. She was married to the late Eddie Martin on December 22, 1945. Mary was a housewife and of the Baptist faith. She was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend to all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by:
Grandchildren: Judy Clanin of Mena, Arkansas Joann Edwards of Dixon, Tennessee Kenneth Nelson of Las Vegas, Nevada
Eight Great grandchildren and Nine great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Mandy Davis, her husband Eddie Martin and brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 29, 20011, 2:00 p. m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cherry Hill cemetery in Cherry Hill under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
Visitation will be general.
Robert "Brother Bob" William Buerger
(March 2, 1935 - March 25, 2011)
Robert William “Brother Bob” Buerger age 76 of Cove died Friday, March 25, 2011 at the St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs. He was born on Saturday, March 2, 1935 to Edward and Mildred Ritner Buerger in Binghamton, New York.
Bob was a devoted husband, father and Christian. His family gave him his greatest joy in life. He enjoyed spending time with kids and grandchildren. Bob served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. The Vietnam War was very important to Bob. All he wanted to do was to defend his country and he volunteered for everything he could. He received 13 different 
military decorations including a Combat Action Ribbon from Vietnam. He trained as a Sky Marshall, Deep Sea Diver, Scuba Diver and an Explosive Ordinance Disposal or EOD while in the service. He was very proud of his military career of 20 years and retired at the rank of AO1/DV. He was a true Patriot. After the military, Bob began another career in insurance sales. He sold funeral insurance for more than 15 years here in the Polk County area. Bob was a conservative Republican and Ronald Regan and John Wayne were his heroes. Bob was a member of the Wickes Pentecostal Church of God and was very devoted to his church and religion.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Loette Buerger of the home; one son David Trice of Byron, Georgia; two daughters, Beth Curry and husband James of Duncan Oklahoma and Tracy Hughes of Chattanooga, Tennessee; one brother Gary Buerger of Jacksonville, Florida; four grandchildren, Lacey Trice of Byron Georgia, Allison Curry, Gavin Curry and Ava Curry all of Duncan, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 10:00 A. M. at the Wickes Pentecostal Church of God with Brother Chris Burke officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Crest Memorial Park in Mena. Visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 6-8 P. M. at the Hall Funeral Service Chapel in Mena.

Dorothy Marie Bowser
(December 29, 1921 - March 21, 2011)
Dorothy Marie Bowser age 89 of Batesville died Monday, March 21, 2011 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born on Thursday, December 29, 1921 to Harry Lester and Lilley Gertrude Casson Krietzer in Dayton, Ohio.
Dorothy was a hard worker during her younger days. She would work the fields in Ohio with her husband, Archie. While she lived in Ohio she was a member of the Dixie Grange in New Lebanon, Ohio and the Farm Bureau in Montgomery County, Ohio. Then in 1970 the family moved to Arkansas. They settled in Evening Shade then to the Batesville area in the late 70’s. She enjoyed needle working, gardening and spending time with her family. Dorothy was a member of the Central Avenue Methodist Church in Batesville and loved to sing in the choir.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Archie Carl Bowser; one sister Elaine James and one granddaughter Zoe Ellen Wheaton.
Survivors include one son and daughter in law Rodney and Rena Bowser of Evening Shade; one daughter and son in law Christine and Steven Wheaton of Jasper, New York; one sister Virginia Howell of Eaton, Ohio; four grandchildren Steven Joe Wheaton and his wife Holly of Jasper, New York, Brian Bowser and his wife Stacey of Mena, Arkansas, Donnie Bowser and his wife Cindy of Evening Shade and Robin Rider and her husband Lance of Prim; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Evening Shade First Baptist Church at 2:00 P. M. with Brother Larry Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery
in Batesville. Visitation will be Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 11-2 P. M. at the Evening Shade First Baptist Church. Arrangements by Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Bowser, Steven Wheaton, Dale Howell, Brian Bowser, Donnie Bowser, and Roy Goodman.

James W. Rackley Sr.
(May 15, 1923 - March 19, 2011)
James W. Rackley Sr. age 87 of Mena, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at his home. He was born on Tuesday, May 15, 1923 to Albert and Mary Alice Means Long in Saltillo, Mississippi.
Jim served his country in both the United States Navy and Army. He served during World War II and the Korean Conflict having received an Honorable Discharge from both. He served in the Pacific Island, San Francisco, California and Hawaii. After the service he attended the University of the Ozarks and received his Bachelor’s Degree and following that degree with his Master’s Degree from the University of Arkansas. He started his coaching career at Palestine, Arkansas from 1952-1954. Then in 1955, he began a 30 year legacy at Mena High School. He was the Mena High School Athletic Director. During his coaching career he took eleven different teams to the Arkansas State Tournament, with two state semi-finals, five state quarter finals, six District Championships and six runners-ups. In 1959, he was chosen to be an assistant All-Star coach for the West; in 1969, he was the head All-Star coach for the West and won that game; in 1976, he was the assistant football coach for the State Championship; in 1979, Southwest Times All-Area Coach; and had the honor of having Mena High School Gymnasium named Jim Rackley Gymnasium.
In 1984, he was honored by the Mena / Polk County Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year; from 1986-1995 he served on the Board of Directors for the University of the Ozarks; in 1994, he was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at the University of the Ozarks; and in 1985 he retired from Mena Public Schools, with a retirement party held at Jansen Park, given to him by all the boys that played basketball. As a gift they gave him a bass boat and a trip to Hawaii. A reception was also held at the Ouachita Country Club that night.
Jim was a former city council member and served on the Cemetery
Board of Pine Crest Cemetery
for 10 years. Jim was a 50 years member of Dallas Masonic Lodge 128; a member of the First Baptist Church in Mena where he served as a Sunday school teacher and drove the church bus for many years. He loved serving his Lord and was very active in church life. Some of Jim’s hobbies were playing golf and going fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He taught all the grandchildren how to drive. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and mentor for so many people of Mena.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lavena Rackley of the home; one son, James Rackley Jr. and wife Lisa of Mena; two daughters, Marilyn Davenport and husband John of Mena and Patti Moran of Mena; one half sister Jeanette Downs of Aberdeen, Mississippi; seven grandchildren, Kelly Wallaert of Chicago, Illinois, Lindsey Davenport of Conway, John Alan Davenport of Conway, Crystal Rackley of Mena, Chase Rackley of Fort Smith, Neil Moran of Mena and Laura Moran of Conway; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 2:00 P. M. at the First Baptist Church in Mena with Dr. David McCord officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Crest Cemetery
with military Honors and Masonic Rites and being directed by Hall Funeral Service in Mena. Visitation will be held Monday, March 21, 2011 from 6-8 P. M. in the Hall Funeral Service Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Grif Liles, Randall Whorton, Harold Coogan, Joe Mannon, Bill Plunkett, Neil Moran, Chase Rackley and John Alan Davenport.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Carver, Barnabas Sunday school class and all the boys he coached throughout the years.

Neaumatta Abilene Fountain
(October 22, 1924 - March 20, 2011)
Neaumatta Abilene Edwards Fountain, age 86, of Big Fork, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at her home.
She was born October 22, 1924 in Big Fork, Arkansas to the late B. F. (Bev) Edwards and the late Loda Standridge Edwards. She was united in marriage in 1941 to the late Jesse E. Fountain. She worked for Douglass Aircraft as aircraft instrument inspector, which became later known as Tinker Aircraft from May of 1944 to January of 1946. Later in life, she became Librarian for Lafayette Elementary School, then changing over to Lee Elementary School from 1960- until 1990. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and will be dearly missed.

Funeral services are Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at Big Fork Baptist Church with Brother Roger Owen and Brother George Shipman officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery
at Big Fork under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be general.
Steven E. Skaggs
(June 9, 1953 - March 18, 2011)
Steven E. Skaggs, age 57, of Mena, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Steven was born June 09, 1953 in Phoenix, Arizona to the late Frank Skaggs and Pauline Ellis Skaggs. He loved being outdoors with his family hunting, fishing and riding four-wheelers. Steven was a floor installer by profession. He was a loving son, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and a friend to all who knew and loved him.
