Kendall Don Kesterson
(July 11, 1972-June 14, 2011)
Kendall Don Kesterson age 38 of Cove died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center in Ft. Smith. He was born on Tuesday, July 11, 1972 to Gerald Don and Helen Arlene Dickerson Kesterson in Mena.
Ken was everyone’s friend; if you needed anything done he was there to lend a hand. Ken graduated from Van-Cove High School in 1990 and enjoyed playing basketball, always working hard to get that starting position. After high school, he attended college and received his Associate of Applied Science Degree. He worked for U. S. Motors and Precision in Malvern as a machinist. He also owned and operated Kesterson Kar Kare, a car detail shop for 8 years. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his children. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles. He rode in several charity motorcycle runs and his favorite was for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Ken was a Christian and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Cove. He drove the Church Bus for many years; served as a Sunday school teacher and was also the activity director for the summer Vacation Bible School at the church for several years. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Kesterson.
Survivors include his wife, Heather Kesterson of the home; his mother, Arlene
Kesterson of Cove, three sons, Kyle Godsby of Cove, Tanner Kesterson of Cove, Nick Kesterson of Cove; one daughter, Hailey Kesterson of Cove; one brother and sister in law Kevin and Carrie Kesterson of Mena; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 2:00 P. M. at the First Baptist Church in Cove with Brother Ron Ladd officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 17, 2011 from 6-8 P. M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena.
Pallbearers are Reese Manasco, Brian Kesterson, Russell Forehand, Karey Kesterson, Roger Dickerson and Davy Ashcraft. Honorary Pallbearers will be Maurice Manasco, Edward Hoyle and Pete Brewer.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 114 North Middle Street, Cove, Arkansas 71937.

Frederick Delane Smith
(November 27, 1946 - June 14, 2011)
Frederick Delane Smith, aka “Goose”, “Tulane”, and “Crack”, age 64, of Watson, Oklahoma, passed away, Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at his home.
He was born November 27, 1946 in Watson, Oklahoma to the late Elmer Smith and the late Lily Mayabb Smith. He was united in marriage to the late Louise Ray Smith on November 9, 1998. He was a Truck Driver by profession and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Smith was also a veteran, serving his country in the United States Army. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by:
Sons: Bradley Wayne Smith and wife Andrea of Watson, Oklahoma Wingo Ray Smith and wife Phyllis of Tower City, North Dakota Kevin Dewayne Carlile and wife Kristi of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Daughters: Patricia Lynn Nipper and husband Lannon of Watson, Oklahoma Rachel Schwabb and husband Ben of Owasso, Oklahoma Cathy Mary McCormick and husband Kenny of Grannis, Arkansas
Brother: Randy Smith and wife Debbie of Watson, Oklahoma
Sisters: Teresa Williams and husband Gene of Poteau, Oklahoma Shirley Johnson and husband Charlie of DeQueen, Arkansas
17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lily Smith, his first wife, Mabel Pollard Smith, his second wife, Louise Ray Smith, two sons, Mike Smith and Kevin Cheek, and a granddaughter, Samantha Huff.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 17, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. at the Smithville Assembly of God Church with Brother Todd Webb and Brother Randy Keiss officiating. Interment followed in Watson Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening, June 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Harris, Archie McDaniel, Monty Brake, Lester Blake, Don Blake, and Ivan Toon. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Huff, Don Hopper, and Steve Osbourne.

ASHLYN MARIE WRIGHT, INFANT DAUGHTER OF BRENT GROGAN OF HATFIELD AND JAMIE WRIGHT OF MENA, Passed away JUNE 9TH, 2011 IN FT. LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA. GRAVESIDE SERVICES WILL BE MONDAY, JUNE 20TH AT 10AM AT PANTHER CREEK CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE BEASLEY WOOD FUNERAL HOME.

Janis Ann Kveum Witt

Janis Ann Kveum Witt, age 55, of Magazine, Arkansas formerly of Wickes, Arkansas passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 in Magazine, Arkansas.
Janis was born April 21, 1956 in Rapid City, South Dakota to the late Jerry Clarence Kveum and the late Irene Charlotte Leinen Kveum. She was a truck driver and a cosmetologist by profession. Janis was of the Methodist faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by:

Grandchildren: Marissa Willis, Courtney Willis Caleb Willis and Blake Willis

She is preceded in death by her parents Jerry and Irene Kveum, granddaughter, Miranda Willis, her nephew Shane Kveum.
Graveside services will be Friday, June 17, 2011 at 3:00 p. m. at the Nunley Cemetery with Brother Billy Ray Sullivan officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening, June 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.

Hugh Milton Erwin III
(March 10, 1948-June 10, 2011)
Hugh Milton Erwin III age 63 of Mena, died Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Mena Regional Health System. He was born on Wednesday, March 10, 1948 to Hugh Milton II and Ruth Muna Burgess in Dallas, Texas.
In high school Hugh was a very good athlete, being selected as an All-State Football player in Plano, Texas. After high school, Hugh served his country in the United States Navy, where he was honorably discharged. He spent some time in Norway where he did some sheepherding. Family was a very important part of his life and loved spending time with them. Hugh enjoyed collecting things such as, tools, eagles, and many other unique things. He was a collector of collections. Hugh enjoyed his life and was a diversified man when it came to his ability to be an artist. He and his wife Theresa owned a stain glass studio for 15 years in Dallas, Texas and continued his artistry here in the Mena area. He worked in wood, metal and glass, being a glass blower. Hugh also loved the theatre. He was very active in the Ouachita Little Theater, where he directed many plays and starred in several also. He was a member of the Mena Art Gallery. He was a firefighter and first responder at the Potter Fire Department. Over all, Hugh was a simple man; enjoying the view from his home and spending time on the front porch with his wife and coffee.
Hugh is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Erwin of the home; three sons, Hugh Milton Erwin IV of Dallas, Texas, Daniel Erwin of Chicago, Illinois and George Shinn of Palmer, Tennessee; two daughters Liv Ellen Helbeth of Alesund, Norway and Melissa Samei of Dallas, Texas; one brother Robert Erwin of Cross Roads, Arkansas; two sisters Mary Anne Matthews and Margaret Stephens both of Old Washington, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10:00 A. M. at the Old Washington Cemetery in Washington, Arkansas with Reverend Keenan Williams officiating. Visitation will be Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel from 5-7 P. M.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to either to the Ouachita Little Theatre, 610 Mena Street, Mena, Arkansas 71953, Mena Art Gallery, 607 Mena Street, Mena, Arkansas 71953 or to the Potter Fire Department.

Martha Jane Holder
February 28, 1916 - June 6, 2011 Martha Jane Holder age 95 of Mena, died Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Mena Regional Health System in Mena. She was born on Monday, February 28, 1916 to Thomas and Mary Jane Houze Fuller in Waldron, Arkansas.
Martha was a good person and was always there to help anyone who needed it. She made sure you never left her house hungry. She loved to cook and her favorite dish to prepare was her famous chicken and dumplings. She also loved to quilt, embroidery, and just go places. Her family was a big part of her life and with her husband Paul, they raised eleven children. They were her pride and joy. Martha was an excellent homemaker and also enjoyed setting with the elderly as a private setter in their homes. Martha was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Holder; three sons, Paul Holder Jr., Glenn Holder and Don Holder; one daughter, Connie Holder; three brothers Richmond Fuller, Diaz Fuller and Dick Fuller; and two sisters Della Dowell and Lillie Fuller.
Survivors include four sons and daughters in law, Harold and June Holder of Medford, Oregon, Bill and Rena Holder of Oregon, Jimmy Holder of Salem, Oregon and Ken and Cindy Holder of Salem, Oregon; three daughters and sons in law, Linda and Stan Martin of Aurora, Oregon, Cordia and Mike Sprague of Mena, and Carol and Harold Unger of Oregon City, Oregon; nineteen grandchildren and thirty four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Friday, June 10, 2011 at 10:00 A. M. at the Pinecrest Memorial Park with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 6-8 P. M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.

Stella Mae Toye, age 82, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 in Mena.
She was born December 21, 1928 in Imboden, Arkansas to the late Oscar Whitfield Davis and the late Manervia Elizabeth Janes Davis. She was united in marriage to Charles Lehman Toye on July 6, 1949. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is survived by:

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Manervia Davis, 3 brothers, Leon Davis, William Earl Davis, and an infant brother Alwin Davis, and 2 sisters, Odessa Faye Davis and Dorothy Decker.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Brother Jack Schoeppey and Brother Doyne Cantrell officiating. Interment follows in Concord Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday evening June 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.

Mary D. Cox, Age 75, of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 in Mt. Ida.
She was born January 21, 1936 in Parks, Arkansas to the late Alvin Wilhite and the late Hazel Morris Wilhite.
She was united in marriage to the late Olan Cox. She was worked in a nursing home and was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Brent T. Nelson, SMSgt USAF Ret., 49, passed away May 31, 2011 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on February 19, 1962 to Bill and Retha Nelson at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. He served his country as a firefighter and in the United States Air Force.
Brent is survived by his wife, Terri Nelson; daughter, Rachel Bray; son, Greg Nelson; mother, Retha Nelson Spellman; half brothers, Gene Nelson of Yukon, OK and Mike Nelson of OKC, OK; sister, Jessica Nelson of Moore, OK; half sister, Theresa Hauk of Yukon, OK; uncles, Richard Nelson of Moore, OK, Robert Nelson, of OKC, OK, and Jim Harris of Edmond, OK; aunts, Merle Hail of Tulsa, OK and Gladys Witt of Binger, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Margaret Nelson; Bill and Jessie Harris and Benjamin and Bessie Witt; father, Bill E. Nelson; and three special friends, Basil Redding, Harlow Redding and Dorothy Stevens.
Funeral services will be held at Southern Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 10am with interment at 5pm at Rocky Cemetery in Mena, Arkansas. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home.
