Judith Ann Teubner
(February 5, 1942 - May 28, 2011)
Judith Ann Teubner, age 69, of Mena, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Mena Regional Health System. She was born on Thursday, February 5, 1942 to the late Charles Robert and Dorothy Jane Kent Boomer from Escondido, California.
Judy lived by the Golden Rule and loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved her dogs, Bo, Rusty and Teddy. They were her children and treated them as such. She enjoyed going on cruises, vacations and family reunions. She was a 30 year member of the Alfa Beta Ki Sorority in San Diego, California. Judy enjoyed playing games and really enjoyed playing card games like Up and Back and Euchre. She received her Associated of Applied Science in Business Management when she was 45 years of age; which was one of her greatest achievements in life. She worked for 6 years as a Bookkeeper at Rich Mountain Nursing and Rehab in Mena. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mena.
Survivors include two brothers, Donald Boomer of Lanse, Michigan and Robert Boomer of Escondido, California; three sisters; Carole Clare of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Margaret Morrissey of Clarkston, Michigan and Linda Deaton of Mena; her former husband Richard Teubner; several nieces and nephews from Arkansas, Michigan and California and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:00 P. M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with Dr. David McCord officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 6-8 P. M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Doug Vespie, David Vespie, Aaron Blehm, Mark Blehm, Bryan Deaton, Tony Deaton, and Jess Cooley.

George Mitchell Fussell
(June 4, 1951 - April 16, 2011)
George Mitchell Fussell, age 59, of Mena died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He was born on Monday, June 4, 1951 to John Lesley and Frances Delois William Fussell in Tallulah, Louisiana.
Mitchell served his country in the United States Army 4th Infantry, serving two tours in Vietnam. He also served in the National Guard as a Tank Commander. After the military, Mitchell went on to get a Vocational Degree in Diesel Mechanics from the Cabrillo Community College in Santa Cruz, California. He worked most of his life working as a certified diesel mechanic and took great pride in his work. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish and going camping. He also was his sons’ baseball coach and in 1985 was awarded Coach of the Year. He was very proud of the achievement. He loved spending time with his wife and children. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter Bethany Fussell.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky Fussell of the home; seven sons, Keith Fussell of Mena, Erick Fussell of Fort Smith, Mark Fussell of Acorn, Jamie Fussell of Mena, J. D. Hooks of Mena; Dustin Hooks of Mena and Timothy Hooks of Mena; one brother, Johnnie Fussell of South Carolina; two sisters Frances Hoskins of Ceres, California and Carol Freeman of Escolin, California; six grandchildren, Marcus Fussell of Mena, Brooklynn Fussell of Mena, Keith Fussell Jr. of Mena, Augusta Fussell of Mena, and Trent Fussell of Mena; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 2:00 P. M. at the family’s residence in Mena with Reverend Keith Fussell officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, C/O Rex Burns, 2960 Hwy 71 North, Mena, Arkansas 71953.

CAROLYN BURKETT
CAROLYN BURKETT, AGE 49, OF COVE, Passed away SUNDAY, JULY 24TH, 2011. SURVIVORS INCLUDE HER HUSBAND: CHARLES BURKETT. HER 2 SONS AND DAUGHTERS IN LAW: JEREMIAH SHOUSE AND MANDY BISSELL AND JOSHUA SHOUSE AND JESSICA PRINE ALL OF COVE. THREE BROTHERS: RANDY HARRISON OF CALIFORNIA, RONALD HARRISON OF IDAHO AND RICKY HARRISON OF COVE. HER ONE SISTER: CHERYL HARRISON OF COVE. A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE FRIDAY, JULY 29TH AT THE COVE REVIVAL CENTER AT 2PM WITH BRIAN CROSS AND RANDY FRYAR OFFICIATING. ARRANGEMENTS ARE ENTRUSTED TO BOWSER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME IN MENA. A BENEFIT ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SET UP AT THE UNION BANK TO ASSIST THE FAMILY WITH EXPENSES. DONATIONS MAY BE MADE AT MENA AND HATFIELD BRANCHES.

HAROLD RUFUS HICKS, JR.
(December 1, 1942 - July 24, 2011)
Mr. Harold Rufus Hicks, Jr., age 68, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 in Mena.
He was born December 1, 1942 in Catlettburg, Kentucky to the late Harold R. Hicks, Sr. and the late Kathryn Vance Hicks. He was united in marriage to the late Gerda Bauer Hicks. Mr. Hicks served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict, earning several medals, including the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed by his family and those who knew him.
He is survived by:
Daughters: Liane Coon of Orchard Park, New York Petra Beckwith of Mena, Arkansas.
Son: Gerhard J. Hicks and wife Barbara of Mena, Arkansas.
Grandchildren: Jamie Tonius of Tonawanda, New York Robert Buchanan of Olean, New York Gene Buchanan of Sanford, Florida James Buchanan of Tonawanda, New York Melissa Truelock of Dover, Arkansas Amanda Normand of Mena, Arkansas Joe, Keith, Gerhard Jr., Kenny, and James Hicks of Mena, Arkansas.
17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Kathryn Hicks and by his wife Gerda Hicks.
Memorial services will be held Friday, July 29, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Dardanelle Townsley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

James Landon Richardson
(July 17, 1918-July 26, 2011)
James Landon Richardson age 93 of Mena, formally of Hatfield died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at his home. He was born on Thursday, July 17, 1918 to James Calvin and Eula Belle Manning Richardson in Curtis, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son James Lannie Richardson; four brothers and four sisters.
Landon served his country in the United States Army during World War II, where he was injured and Honorably Discharged from the service with 100 percent disabled. After returning back to Hatfield, he worked many different jobs during his life. He worked as a logger, the worked for the housing authority in Hatfield and Cove, and also the County Road Department. Landon was a hard worker and saved his money to help make his family’s life better. Landon was a 45 year member of the Hatfield Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, but upon the move to Mena in 2000, he joined Calvary Baptist Church where he was a faithful member there also. Landon enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. It’s said that he could make three plays in dominoes and know exactly what you were holding. He also loved talking and telling stories to anyone that would listen. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and hunting and going to auctions to look for bargains. He was very proud of his sons and all of his family. Landon will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bonnie Richardson of the home; three sons and daughters in law, Benny and Sherry Richardson of Cove, Ronnie and Beverly Richardson of Mena and Danny and Becky Richardson of Mena; one sister, Louise Oppie of Loveland, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Kristie Golden of Hatfield, Wesley Richardson of Clarksville, Ronnie Dale Richardson of Mena, Robin Standingwater of Mena, Robin Castor of Mena, Lanisa Harris of Hatfield, Shannon Miller of Hatfield and Jeffery Richardson of Wickes; eighteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 28, 2011 from 6-8 P. M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:00 A. M. at the Hatfield Freewill Baptist Church with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. Interment will follow in the Six Mile Cemetery in Hatfield.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Dale Richardson, Jeffery Richardson, Wesley Richardson, David Harris, Kenny Miller, Dillon Harris, Chad Golden, Richard Castor, and Russell Standingwater. Honorary Pallbearers will be Landon’s eighteen great grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 2100 Highway 375 West, Mena, Arkansas 71953.

Mary Alice Hackworth
(December 2, 1944 - July 26, 2011)
Mary Alice Hackworth, age 66, of Cove, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at her home.
She was born December 2, 1944 in Shooten Creek, North Carolina to the late Gordon Loftis and the late Ethel Willamson Loftis. She was united in marriage to Jerry Hackworth. Mary was a truck driver by profession but her greatest joy was her family who will miss her greatly. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by:
Husband: Jerry Hackworth of Wickes, Arkansas
Children: Geraldine Hackworth of Talihina, Oklahoma Kenny Hackworth and wife Buffey of Cove, Arkansas Judy James of Cove, Arkansas Eddie Hackworth and wife Yolanda of Cove, Arkansas Jay Hackworth and wife Denette of Smithville, Oklahoma
5 brothers and 1 sister 41 grandchildren and great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Ethel Loftis, 4 sisters, Linda, Katherin, Evelin, and Beatrice, and a great-grandson, Rylie James.
Graveside services will be Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. at Crystal Hill Cemetery at Wickes with Brother Steve Bradley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be general.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Wilcher, Raymond Wilcher, John Tidwell, Mitchell Tidwell, Douglas Turner, and Joe Glen. Honorary pallbearer will be Kenneth Rose.

JOHN YURONKA
(November 16, 1922 - July 24, 2011)
Mr. John Yuronka, age 88, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 in Mena.
He was born November 16, 1922 in Middlesex County, New Jersey to the late John Yuronka, Sr. and the late Mary Czingli Yuronka. He was united in marriage to Donna Clement on July 3rd, 1955. John served his country in the United States Army and was also an engineer by profession. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by:
Wife: Donna Yuronka of Mena, Arkansas
Daughters: Ann Hollingsworth and husband J. L. of Houston, Texas Sarah Yuronka and Brian Feinsilber of Akron, Ohio
Grandchildren: James and Julia Hollingsworth of Houston, Texas Hannah and Andrew Walsh of Akron, Ohio
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Yuronka and by a sister, Irene Curtin.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 11:00 a. m. at Christ Episcopal Church with father Jos Tharakan and Bishop Larry Maze officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church.

JOHN PAUL CONVILLE, JR.
(October 26, 1943 - July 24, 2011)
Mr. John Paul Conville, Jr., age 67, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 in Little Rock.
He was born October 26, 1943 in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania to the late John Paul Conville, Sr. and the late Doris Evelyn Shronk Conville. John was retired from U. S. Motors and was very active in the St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was a huge fan of Alabama Football, and his pride was the Tide! He was deeply loved by his family and was very grateful for their efforts and care. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew him.
He is survived by:
Sisters: Mary Ann Nordmeyer and husband Jim of Brewton, Alabama Diane Morris of Fort Worth, Texas .
Brothers: Gerald Conville of Mena, Arkansas Michael J. Conville of Mena, Arkansas.
Aunt and Godmother: Edith Costello and her husband Norman of Delaware.
Nephews: Kristopher Morris of Cedar Hill, Texas Paul Conville of Houston, Texas Anthony Conville of Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Doris Shronk Conville.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, July 26th with a Rosary being said at 7:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 2:00 p. m. at the St. Agnes Catholic Church with Father Norbert Rappold officiating. Interment follows in Mt. Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
