DALE DENVER WILHITE
(November 3, 1923 - July 18, 2011)
Mr. Dale Denver Wilhite, age 87, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Monday, July 18, 2011 at his home.
He was born November 3, 1923 in Mauldin, Arkansas to the late Alvin Wilhite and the late Hazel Morrison Wilhite. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Elfreda Strothers Wilhite. Dale was self employed in the logging industry and then worked for the U. S. Forest Service. He served his country as a Tec 5 in the United States Army, serving in World War II, where he earned the Victory Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal, and AP Theater Ribbon. Dale was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Acorn Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, and will be missed by many.
He is survived by:
Wife: Dorothy Wilhite of Mena, Arkansas.
Children: Larry Wilhite of Mena, Arkansas Dennis Wilhite and wife Paula of Mena, Arkansas Tony Wilhite and wife Nancy of Mena, Arkansas Connie Bass and husband Steve of Mena, Arkansas Debbie Bass and husband J. B. of Mena, Arkansas.
Grandchildren: Dina Rodgers, Tony Dean Wilhite, Korie Wilhite, Van Holman, Jr., Candice Ferguson, Benji Bass, Tim Bass, and Josh Bass.
Great-grandchildren: Harlee Rodgers, Beau Rodgers, Jade Ferguson, Dawson Denver Ferguson, Mia Bass, and J. J. Bass.
Brothers: J. V. Wilhite of Mena, Arkansas Junior Wilhite of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Wilhite, 2 sisters, Mary Cox and Viola Richey, 2 brothers, Olen and Darrell Wilhite, 2 half sisters, Juanita Wilhite and Bonnie Scott, and 2 half brothers, Audy and Hoyt Wilhite.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday evening, July 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel with Brother Roger Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Justin Rodgers, Steve Bass, Dal White, J. B. Bass, Benji Bass, Tim Bass, Josh Bass, and Tony Dean Wilhite.

MARY LOUISE SADLER DRYE
MARY LOUISE SADLER DRYE, AGE 85, OF MENA, Passed away TUESDAY, JULY 12TH, 2011. SHE IS SURVIVED BY FIVE DAUGHTERS AND HER SISTER AND THREE SISTERS IN LAW AND HER LONG TIME FRIEND AND NEIGHBOR. VISITATION IS THURSDAY, JULY 14TH FROM 6PM UNTIL 8PM AT THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF MENA IN THE FELLOWSHIP HALL. FUNERAL SERVICES BY ASHBY FUNERAL HOME OF BENTON WILL BE FRIDAY, JULY 15TH AT 11AM IN THE SANCTUARY OF THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH. GRAVESIDE SERVICES WILL BE FRIDAY, JULY 15TH AT 4PM AT THE NEW ROSEMONT CEMETERY IN BENTON. MEMORIALS CAN BE MADE TO THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF MENA.

Jimmie Ray Harris
Jimmie Harris, age 80, of Hatfield died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Rich Mountain Nursing and Rehab in Mena. He was born on Friday, October 13, 1930 to Tutt and Azzie June Littlepage Harris in Hatfield.
Jimmie served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a driver for the Generals that he served with him during this time.
After the military, Jimmie began a 30 year career with the United State Postal Service as Postmaster in Hatfield.
Then after he retired from the postal service he made a trip the Hawaii came home and began another 15 year career in the Paint and Hardware Department at Wal-Mart. Hard work was the only thing that Jimmie knew in his life.
He was very proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Jimmie enjoyed playing the piano and even had his own little band. He also loved his dogs. Jimmie was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Mena.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Allen and Dahl Harris; four sisters, Nita Turner, Fern Hastings, Tommye Perkins and Shirley Ann Holder.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn Harris of Hatfield; one daughter Melinda Davis of Hatfield; close friend, Mike Howell of Hatfield, one sister, Marion Rowe of Hatfield; three grandchildren, Vitoria Wheeler and husband Corey of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Brian Davis and his wife Anna of Hot Springs and Brandon Howell of Hatfield; four great grandchildren, Abigail Wheeler and Daniel Wheeler both of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Isaac Nance and Benjamin Davis both of Hot Springs; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 10:00 A. M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena.
A private burial will be held at a later date at Six Mile Cemetery in Hatfield.
Memorials can be made the charity of choice.

DANNY JOE HOLMES
(February 12, 1943-July 9, 2011)
Danny Joe Holmes, age 68, of Mena died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Mena Regional Health System. He was born on Friday, February 12, 1943, in Portland, Oregon.
Danny served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam Era and served from 1964 to 1966 as a field medic. After the military, he worked in all different kinds of construction jobs; from doing carpentry, being a machinist and working on drilling rigs. He enjoyed working in the outdoors. He also like to play in the outdoors; from fishing and hunting to working on his property getting food plots ready for his deer. He also liked to travel and see new place with his wife and family. He enjoyed seeing his kids and grandchildren play sports. Danny always had a positive outlook on life and liked to have a good time everywhere he went. He was a 30 year member of the Elks, a member of the VFW and American Legion. Danny will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Virgie Holmes; four brother and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Carolyn Holmes of the home; two sons and daughters in law, Teddy and Sue Fretz of Mena and Mark and Tanya Fretz of Mena; one brother, Eric Bailey of Great Falls Montana; three sisters, Zula Hill of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Oletha Marston of San Pedro, California and Vicki Summerhays of Great Falls Montana; five grandchildren, Teddi Fretz, Kayla Fretz Benson and husband Hosea, Erica Fretz, Talyssa Fretz and Chandler Fretz all of Mena; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 10:00 A. M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with Brother Art Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Nunley Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, July 11, 2011 from 6-8 P. M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Jim Crowley, Chris Crowley, Kyle Crowley, Mike Crowley, Jason Crowley, Hosea Benson and David Cunningham. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Bishop, Glenn Zulauf and Glenn Stanfill.
Memorials can be made to the St. Jude 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

BOB GENE FIELDS
Bobby Gene Fields (Bob) age 75, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Friday, July 08, 2011 at his home.
Bob was born November 04, 1935 in Mountain Fork, Arkansas to the late Sam Fields and the late Rose Swan Fields. He was married to Norma Miller Fields in 1981. Bob graduated from Mena High School in 1953 and was an auto parts store manager for 35 years. He was a member of Dallas Avenue Baptist church and choir for 35 years. Bob’s hobbies were bowling, lawn work, woodwork, and traveling with family and friends. Bob always was very punctual in his daily life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by: Wife: Norma Fields of Mena, Arkansas
Daughters: Janet Lunsford of Mena, Arkansas Brenda Sloan and husband Doug of Mena, Arkansas Sons: Keith Rose and wife Lisa of Hatfield, Arkansas Kent Rose and wife Julie of Mena, Arkansas
Grandchildren: Maria Fields and husband Jason Chism Nathaniel, Michelle, James, Taylor, Angel and Dalton Lunsford Nikki Sloan Rowland and husband Kyle Nathan Sloan Jennifer Rose Brewer and husband Daniel Nera Polkinghorn and husband Adam Jaclyn Rose Brittany Rose Jonathan Rose and wife Sierra Sarah Jo Rose Stephanie Rose Laney and husband John Mark Christopher Rose Adrienne Rose Nicholas Rose

Honorary pallbearers are Miles Aynes, Carl Fair, Charles Reynolds, Kenny Miller, Richard Owens, Jack Hughes and all his 13 grandsons.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 12, 2011, 10:00 a. m. at the Dallas Avenue Baptist Church with Brother Donnie Edwards, Doug Sloan, and Brother Keith Rose officiating. Interment will follow in the Six Mile Cemetery in Hatfield under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
Family and friends visitation will be Monday, July 11, 2011, 6:00-8:00 p. m. at the Beasley-Wood Chapel.

DORIS J. DOBBS
Doris J. Dobbs age 73, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Thursday, July 07, 2011 in Mena.
She was born April 02, 1938 in Mena, Arkansas, to the late Reverend Don Gillam and the late Geneva Robison Gillam. She was married to the late J. D. Dobbs. Doris was the night manager at Wal-Mart. She was a loving sister, aunt and a friend to all who knew her. She is survived by:

Chris Bosch and wife Melonie of Springdale, Arkansas Justin Bosch of Mena, Arkansas Greg Staggs of Springdale, Arkansas

VIVIAN PHELPS ELLISON, AGE 68, OF MT. IDA, Passed away ON TUESDAY, JULY 5, 2011. SHE IS SURVIVED BY HER SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW DONNY AND SHERRY ELLISON, HER TWO GRANDCHILDREN JENNIFER AND JEFF WARDEN AND JOSHUA ELLISON OF MT. IDA, ONE GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER JAYDEN WARDEN OF MT. IDA AND ONE SISTER BEDA HOLLIS OF TEXAS. SERVICES WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, JULY 9TH AT 10AM AT THE FAITH TABERNACLE IN MT. IDA WITH BROTHER PAUL BURKE AND CLIFTON PHELPS OFFICIATING. Joyce Ann Cobb Beckwith
(June 25, 1938 - July 5, 2011)
Joyce Ann Cobb Beckwith, age 73, of Norman, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, July 05, 2011 in Norman.
She was born June 25, 1938, in Michigan, to the late Robert Garrett and the late Greta Roush Garrett. Joyce was married to the late Alban Beckwith. She worked in medical records as a consultant Joyce had a hobby of making homemade Teddy Bears and dolls which she donated to the Police Department to be given to children. Also she made dolls to be given at Christmas to children. She was the creator of the life-sized doll “Foxy Roxy” who around Polk County had “medical “ and “police “ records. Joyce enjoyed many hours of mischief with “Foxy Roxy” She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by:
Daughters: Annette Vekre and husband Jerry of Norman, Arkansas Lillian Poche’ of Mena, Arkansas Karen Pegg of Greenwood, Arkansas
17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Greta Garrett, husband Alban Beckwith, sons Anthony Beckwith, and Monte Beckwith, and son-in-law, Michael Poche’
A memorial service will be Saturday, July 09, 2011, 10:00 a. m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Mena, Arkansas with President David Alford officiating under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.

Dorothy Holder Vincent, age 88, of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in Mt. Ida.
She was born November 5, 1923 in Hatfield, Arkansas to the late Marion R. Holder and the late Artie Bell Holder. She was united in marriage to the late Cleo Vincent. Dorothy was a member of the Salem Baptist Church for many years and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is survived by:
Daughter: Jean Norwood and her husband Bob of Mena, Arkansas
Sister: Quata Gilliam of Texarkana, Arkansas
