Donald Ray Mowery
Donald Ray Mowery went home to be with the Lord at the age of 48 on Oct. 12, 2006.
He was born a twin May 14, 1958 in Malvern, Ark. He was a member of the Poyen Missionary Baptist Church and his faith reflected in all he did. He was a welder by trade and had a smile that brought sunbeams in the unfairest of weather, as he was loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, and most of all, making people smile with a kindness that gleamed from his personality.
He is survived by his parents: Willie and Patsy Mowery; brother: Greg Mowery; twin sister: Donna Hardin and husband, Hollis, of Poyen; sister: Nelda Schoggin of Benton; several nieces and nephews; and an infinite number of friends.
Funeral services were held on Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Poyen Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Franklin officiating. Interment was at Neighbors Cemetery in Midway.
Pallbearers were Mike Byrd, Bo Hardin, Terry Fite, Shane Hixon, Randy Hixon, David McDaniel, Brian McDaniel, and Jason Hixon. Honorary pallbearers were Dick Walker, Dick Allen, Johnny Nutt, and Dr. Bruce Burton.

Beth Nicole Tucker
Beth Nicole Tucker of Little Rock, Ark., was born July 2, 1981 in Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of Scotty Dale Tucker and Kathleen Martin Tucker. Miss Tucker died at her home on Oct. 12, 2006 at the age of 25.
She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Farmerville, La., a 1999 graduate of Sheridan High School where she was active in 4-H and Sheridan FFA. She was also a member of the Purple Circle Club, Junior Cattleman’s Association, Red Brangus Association, and Saler Association. She was also a student at Pulaski Technical College.
Survivors include her son: Alec Wade Tucker of the home; mother: Kathleen Tucker of Jefferson; father: Scotty Tucker of Avery, Texas; sister and brother-in-law: Kimberly and Scott McMillan of Jefferson; nieces: Haylee and Destiny; brother and sister-in-law: Scott and Marie Tucker of Quitmon, La.; nieces: Cassie and Cara; and grandparents: Eurma and Albert Lee Martin of Jefferson and Rose and Clyde Tucker of Farmerville, La.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 17 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Bruce Bennett officiating. Burial followed at Jones Cemetery near Redfield.

Francse Venita McTigrit
Francse Venita McTigrit, 67, of Star City, Ark., died Aug. 4, 2007, at Star City Nursing Center. She was born on Dec. 29, 1939, in Chicot County to the late William Doyle and Juanita Elizabeth Price Earnest.
Also preceding her in death was her husband: Clarence Edward McTigrit; and a grandson: Michael McTigrit.
Survivors include a son: Clarence Carlton McTigrit of Dumas; daughter: Venita McTigrit of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two brothers: Gary L. Earnest of Lake Village and Larry Earnest of Iuka, Miss.; six sisters: Mavis Talbert of Shirley, Juanita Lawrence of England, Linda Simpson of South Carolina, Joyce Newton of Star City, Peggy King of Dumas and Georgia May Wilson of California; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 6 at Griffin Funeral Services Chapel in Star City. Burial was in Philadelphia Cemetery at Prattsville.

Peggy Ann Moore Lowery
Peggy Ann Moore Lowery of Sheridan, Ark., was born Sept. 13, 1939, in Prattsville, Ark., the daughter of the late Fred and Zelma Duncan Moore. Mrs. Lowery died Aug. 7, 2007, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 67.
She was a member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church at Sheridan, a member of the Class of 1957 Golden Girls and a volunteer for the Spirit of Sharing. She loved her family, and to her grandchildren she was "MeMe".
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Rex Lowery; brother: Billy Moore; and sisters: Faye Dell Williams and Freddie Lee Moore.
Survivors include her son: Jody and wife, Amanda Lowery of Sheridan; daughters: Pam Pratt and Kelly Lowery both of Sheridan; brothers: Bobby and wife, Jacque Moore of Hot Springs; Terry and wife, Brenda Moore of Sheridan; sisters: Aleen and husband, Alex Mitchell of Danville; sister-in-law: Joyce Ann Moore of Little Rock; granddaughters: Lacy Pratt and Lindsey Pratt, both of Sheridan; and great-granddaughter: Shandy Williams of Sheridan.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 10 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan with Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Burial followed at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville.
Pallbearers were C.S. Walker, Carroll Vanlandingham, Wayne Creed, Bo Jordan, Billy Carroll Reynolds and Randy Mooney. Honorary pallbearers were the Class of 1957 Golden Girls.

Paul D. Baker
Paul D. Baker, 39, of Benton, Ark., went to be with our Lord on Aug. 10, 2007.
He was born Jan. 23, 1968, in Little Rock, Ark., to William and Jewel Baker.
Paul provided for his family as a truck driver for the Acme Brick Co. in Malvern. However, his passion was his membership with the Turtle Creek Fire Department, where he served as a Lieutenant at Station 1.
He was a member of Leola Missionary Baptist Church and the Lew Road and Twin Mag Hunting Clubs. Paul was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed working with his hands doing wood work and leather craft.
Paul was preceded in death by his father: William Baker; grandparents: Clarence Baker, Boyce and Lillie Koon, and Alton and Mattie Socia.
He is survived by his loving wife: Arla Baker; daughter and son-in-law: Stephanie and Roger Fagan; granddaughter: Katelyn Baker; sons: William Andy Baker and Michael “Squeak” Mobley; daughter: Gena Baker, all of Benton; mother: Jewel and father: Truman Skinner of Sheridan; brothers: Michael Skinner and Alex and Connie Skinner, all of Rolla, Michael Baker, William and Peggy Socia of Sheridan, and Jason and Megan Skinner of Yelm, Wash.; sisters: Letha and Robert Hymes of North Little Rock, and Karen and Larry Baldwin of Sheridan; sister-in-law: Johnnie Socia of Conway; and numerous brothers and sisters in the Fire Service.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 15 at Ashby’s Funeral Home in Benton with interment at Mt. Harmony Cemetery in Haskell. Lt. Baker will receive full Fire Department Honors.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Hinds, Ricky Higgins, Daniel Blair, Timmy Dempsey, Terry Hayes and Andy Nelson. The Turtle Creek Firefighters will serve as honorary pallbearers.
After the services the family, friends and firefighters will have a reception at the Turtle Creek Fire Department Central Station.

Edith Tompkins McWilliams
Edith Tompkins McWilliams of Sheridan, Ark., was born July 29, 1964, at Little Rock, Ark., the daughter of Dulan A. and Doris June Webb Tompkins. Mrs. McWilliams died Aug. 10, 2007, at her home in Sheridan at the age of 43.
She was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas McWilliams; and brothers:
Christoper Dean and Billy Tompkins.
Survivors include her parents: Dulan and Doris Tompkins of Sheridan; sons: Jeffery Nicholas Edens of Judsonia and Jacob Lee Edens of Sheridan; brothers: Dulan Dwayne, Bobby Darrell, and George Anthony Tompkins, all of Sheridan and Thomas Howard Tompkins of East End; sister: Angela Lowerre of Little Rock; granddaughters: Gracie Edens and Charity Angel-Ann Edens; and numerous other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 12 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Sheridan with Bro. Michael Walton officiating.

Michelle Lea Weeks
Michelle Lea Weeks, 15, of White Hall, Ark., died Aug. 9, 2007, in White Hall. She was born Dec. 20, 1991, in Little Rock, Ark., a daughter of Richard Morris Weeks and Pamela Burdess Williams.
Michelle was reared and received her education in White Hall, where she sang in the school choir and would have entered the 10th grade this fall. Michelle was active in Family Church.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather: John David Burdess; an aunt: Kathee Burnett; and an uncle: Jerrold Burdess.
Survivors include her father: Richard Weeks of Jacksonville; mother and step-father: John and Pamela Williams of White Hall; brother: Lucas John Weeks of Sheridan; step-brother: John Russell Williams of White Hall; step-sister: Lori Michelle Shelby of Woodlawn; paternal grandparents: Morris and Katherine Weeks of Jacksonville; and maternal grandmother: Beverly Burdess of Sheridan.
Funeral services were hleld at 2 p.m., on Aug. 13 at Family Church with the Rev. Stephen Harrison officiating.

Natalie McCrackin
Natalie McCrackin, 81, of Tulip, Ark., passed away Aug. 9, 2007, at her residence. She was born Sept, 20, 1925, in Leola, Ark., to James Phillips and Katie Strong Phillips.
She was a member of Tulip Baptist Church and Tulip E.H. Club. She enjoyed fishing, flowers and watching hummingbirds.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Buford “B.B” McCrackin; her parents; and two brothers: Travis and Jimmie Phillips.
She is survived by her son: Bruce McCrackin and wife, Debbie of Tulip; daughter: Carolyn Dial and friend: Dee Turner of Poyen; four brothers: Homer Phillips and wife, Bonnie Jean of Leola, Billy Phillips of Breckenridge, Texas, Clark Phillips and wife, Nita of Leola, John “Snookie” Phillips of Leola; sister: Gladys Batchelor and husband, Gene of Poyen; four grandchildren: April Dial of Hot Springs, Brandi Shoptaw and husband, Jared of Rogers, Brian McCrackin of Tulip, Dusty Dial of Poyen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 13 in Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Conard officiating. Interment followed in Tulip Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Tulip Cemetery Association.

Rhonda Frias
Rhonda Frias, 34, of Austin, Texas passed away on Aug. 1, 2007.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her father: Danny Taylor; brother: Billy Populis; brother-in-law: Ricky Frias, and father-in-law: Papa Leno Frias.
Survivors include her husband: Magdaleno Frias; daughters: Carmelita and Olga Frias; sons: Billy and Gabriel Frias; mother: Norma Taylor of Leola; sister: Danya McJunkins and husband, Mike, of Brush Creek; brothers: Jacob Populis of Leola and James Populis and wife, Teena, of Jacksonville; a grandmother in Little Rock; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held on Aug. 4 at 9:30 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church in Austin, Texas.
Arrangements were by Mission Funeral Home in Austin, Texas.

Micki Jo Mooney Lybrand
Micki Jo Mooney Lybrand of Sheridan, Ark., was born Oct. 2, 1962, in Tulsa, Okla. She died Feb. 3, 2008, at her home at the age of 45.
She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Hot Springs and a member of the organization for "Survivors of Abortion." She was also a published author of a Christian help book entitled "Family Values," loved writing poetry and had two poems published.
Survivors include her husband: Tony Lybrand of Sheridan; daughters: Rachael Hubbard of Little Rock, Rebecca Brisbin of Little Rock, Kaitlyn Lybrand of Sherwood; her parents; one brother; and one sister.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Feb. 6 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan with Bro. Nathan Petty officiating. Burial followed at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville.
