ERNEST O. LEWIS
Ernest O. Lewis, "Two Dollar Bill", age 72 of Benton died Saturday, March 17.
He was born at Paron on June 2, 1928 to the late Frank and Nettie Hughes Lewis. In 1958, he began working for Sheridan Furniture Company and later he was employed at several trucking companies as a truck driver.
In 1982, he began his own trucking company, Lewis Express. He continued driving until his health forced him into semi-retirement at the age of 71.
He was a member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Elmer Lewis.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, LaVeta Lewis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Norman Boggs of Benton, and Debbie and Wally Leigh of Bryant; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Waynell Lewis, and Randy and Mandy Lewis all of Benton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Hulon and Virginia Lewis of Lonsdale, Elbert and Louise Lewis of Benton, and Robert and Nancy Lewis of Hot Springs; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, March 20, at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kim Hammer officiating. Interment followed at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Saline Memorial Hospice or to Arkansas Cancer Research Center at UAMS.

ANDY HICKMAN BRAY
Andy Hickman Bray, 44, of Benton, a nurse at the Arkansas Veterans Hospital, died Saturday, March 31.
He was a Methodist.
Surviving are his wife, Rae Gene Bray of Mabelvale; his parents, E.C. and Allie Bea Bray of Benton; and a brother, Terry Bray and his wife, Liz of Benton.
Graveside services were held Monday at Social Hill Cemetery Pavilion with the Rev. Larry Kelso and the Rev. Jacob Roach officiating.

CHASE MATTHEW GARRETT
Chase Matthew Garrett, infant son of Corey and Kami Garrett of Paron, died Friday, March 30.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Grant Michael Garrett; and three great-grandfathers, O.T. Waddle, Millard Garrett and Von Southworth.
Surviving are his parents; his grandparents, Russell and Renee Garrett of Paron, Sherri Waddle of Alexander and Alline Garrett and Shirley Southworth, both of Paron.
Graveside services were held Monday at Bolin Cemetery in Paron with Rev. Chris Reade officiating. Arrangements were by Roller-Ballard Funeral Home.

RALPH J. LOBBS
Ralph J. Lobbs, 48, of Benton, a 22-year veteran of law enforcement and a retired Corporal from the Arkansas State Police, died Friday, March 30.
He was born Sept. 1, 1952 in Bauxite. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Lobbs.
Surviving are his wife, Linda McPherson Lobbs; three sons, Ralph Lee Lobbs and his wife Robin of Bauxite, Richard Lobbs of Benton and Raymond Lobbs and his wife Dottie of Benton; his mother, Bonita Lobbs of Bauxite; two brothers, Randy Lobbs of Bauxite and Mike Lobbs of Leola; and three sisters, Brenda Pipps of Bauxite, Sandra Taylor of Bauxite and Glenda Appling of Bauxite.
Funeral was Tuesday at Ashby Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Toopes officiating.
Burial was held at Mars Hill Cemetery.

RUTH ELIZABETH FLEMING BEATY
Ruth Elizabeth Fleming Beaty, 87, of Benton, died Tuesday, April 3.
She was born in Benton on Nov. 13, 1913 to Lydia and Otto Fleming.
He is survived by her children, Ralph Beaty of Huntsville, Texas, Harold Beaty and his wife Jerry, and Mary Williams and her husband Ted, all of Benton; three brothers and two sisters, Clarence "Buster" Fleming of Little Rock, John Fleming of Alexander, Rose Marie Tudor of Jonesboro, La., Mildred Prewitt and Clyde Fleming, both of Benton; six grandchildren, Andrea Ridgway, Casey Williams, Lori Blankenship, Abby Beaty, Drew Williams and Nicholas Beaty; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew Ridgway, Shelby Ridgway and Cameron Blankenship.
Funeral was Thursday, April 5, at Oak Grove Baptist Church and burial in Lee Cemetery. Ashby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saline Memorial Hospice.

ARTHUR GENE DEPEW
Arthur Gene Depew, 68, of Bauxite, a maintenance mechanic for Alcoa and an Air Force Veteran, died Friday, March 30.
He was born June 2, 1932, in Bauxite. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burt and Onie Depew.
Surviving are his wife, Marvis Depew; five sons, Tom Depew and Terry Depew, both of Benton, Curtis Hawkins of Lonsdale, James Hawkins of Bauxite and Steve Hawkins of Alexander; five daughters, Mickie Bienick of Sardis, Joyce Mitchell of Benton, Deborah Hawkins of Tennessee, Cathy Beck of Bauxite and Janet Galbraith of Sardis; a brother, Charles Depew of Mabelvale; two sisters, Patsy Allen of Benton and Mary Stuckey of Bryant; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

JOE LLOYD PEARCE
Joe Lloyd Pearce, age 78, of Little Rock, died Aug. 15, 2001.
He was born in Danville on June 2, 1923, to the late Charles and Bessie Pearce. He retired in 1988 as a civil engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers, he served in World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps and he was also a member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church for 44 years.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Opha Hicks of Kansas City, Mo., and Opal Marcum of Bakersfield, Calif.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Evelyn Pearce of Little Rock; two sons, Stephan Pearce and his wife Lori of Alexander and David Pearce and his wife Vicki of Rock Hill, S.C.; three grandchildren, Jameson, Adam and Madalyn Pearce; two brothers, Charles Pearce of Conway and Houston Pearce of Modesto, Calif.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 20, at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Sanders officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Cancer Research Center, 4301 W. Markham, Little Rock, AR 72204 or Geyer Springs First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 31510, Little Rock, AR 72206.

MEREDITH NAOMI OLSON
Meredith Naomi Olson, 70, of Bryant, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001.
She was born Dec. 5, 1930 and was a Jehovah Witness.
Surviving are a son, Everett Olson of Bryant; six daughters, Mary Anne Olson of St. Louis, Mo., Susan Olson of Bryant, Martha Reed of Norfolk, Va., Phyllis Olson of New York, Rebecca Olson of Little Rock and Kathryn Bracken of New York; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held Monday, Aug. 20, at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton with Rev. Van Izard officiating.

ARMINTA D. COWAN
Arminta Dorcus Cowan, 96, of Mulberry died Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Methodist Nursing Home at Fort Smith.
She was born Dec. 26, 1904, in Mulberry to Dow M. Minnie Harris McGehee. She graduated from Galloway College in Searcy in 1926, which was the Methodist Girls School that merged with Hendrix College. In October 1926, she married Herschel H. McClurkin of Stephens. Following his death she returned to Mulberry where she was a partner in the McGehee and Company Mercantile, a pianist and Sunday School teacher at Mulberry Methodist Church. In 1956 she married Wallace Cowan who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Herschel H. McClurkin Jr. of Alma, and John Dow McClurkin of Mulberry; a step-son, Wallace C. Cowan of Russellville; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one step grandchild; two step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mulberry United Methodist Church with burial in New Cemetery in Mulberry.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Lewis Funeral Home of Fort Smith is in charge of the arrangements.

REV. GORDON REDDIN
The Rev. Gordon Reddin, 85, of Sherwood died Monday, Feb. 12.
He was born May 10, 1915, at Woodberry to Ira Buchannan and Ida Victoria Gordon. He attended Columbia Bible School in Magnolia and Central Baptist College in Conway. He served as pastor for many churches in Arkansas, was editor of the Baptist Trumpet, a director of the Baptist Missionary Association Children's Home, moderator of the BMA of Arkansas, and assistant moderator of the BMA of America. He was a past president of the North Little Rock Lions Club, active in masonry with both Royal Arch and Scottish Rite degrees, served as Worshipful Master of Southern Star Lodge No. 53 in Hampton, and was the current master of Crescent Lodge No. 403 in North Little Rock.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Annie Morrison Reddin; a daughter, Frankie Brown of Sherwood; a son, Dr. Randall Reddin of Pine Bluff, a brother Ralph Cottrell of Tyler, Texas; two sisters, Blanche Barnes of Camden and Ruby Sebasta of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Greater New Hope Baptist Church formerly Parkview Baptist Church in North Little Rock with the Rev. James Ray Raines and the Rev. Ralph Cottrell officiating. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy in North Little Rock from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Roller-Owens Funeral Home of North Little Rock is in charge of the arrangements.

HARRY D. SMITH
Harry D. Smith, 64, of Camden died Monday, Feb. 12, in Ouachita County Medical Center.
He was a former manager of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Store in Camden and a member of Westside Baptist Church in El Dorado.
Survivors include his wife, Melba "Bitsy" Smith of Camden; three sons, James Randall Smith and Robert Bradley Smith, both of Camden, David Scott Smith of Calion; and a sister, Vera Jean Lee of Camden.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Proctor Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Smackover Cemetery.
Proctor Funeral Home of Camden is in charge of the arrangements.
