Aaron B. Cantrell, 78
Army Veteran of Korea, insurance agent
GLENWOOD -- Funeral services for Aaron B. Cantrell, 70, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in Glenwood First Baptist Church. Bro. Erby Burgess officiated.
Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral home.
Mr. Cantrell was born July 27, 1932, son of Curtis Cantrell and Bertha Moran Cantrell.
He died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002.
An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was an insurance agent for more than 40 years and the director of Pike County Housing Authority. He was a member of Glenwood First Baptist Church, where he attended the Fish Nest Sunday School class and sang bass with the First Baptist Church Adult Choir.
He was a member of Glenwood Masonic Lodge #662.
Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gene Cantrell.
Survivors include: his wife, Virginia Brogdon Cantrell of Glenwood; three sons, Paul Cantrell of Little Rock, Marty Cantrell of Glenwood and Jeff Cantrell of Rogers; a granddaughter; a sister, Phyllis Oblander of Greenville, Texas; two step-daughters, Carolyn Kapp of Little Rock and Pam Brogdon of Sherwood; two step-granddaughters; and a step-great-granddaughter.

Jesse F. Alexander, 92
Retired railroad master, mayor of Lockesburg
NASHVILLE -- Funeral services for Jesse F. Alexander, 92, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at Nashville Funeral Home.
Rev. Jim Polk and Dr. David Blase officiated.
Burial was in Greens Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home.
Mr. Alexander was born Dec. 16, 1909, in Lockesburg, son of the late William Benjamin and Florence Ann Shelton Alexander.
He died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, in a local hospital.
A retired railroad master and a member of First United Methodist Church in Nashville, he was a member of the Lockesburg Masonic Lodge for more than 65 years. He was a former mayor of Lockesburg, who had also served as a council member.
Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: his spouse of more than 11 years, Betty Hile Alexander of Nashville; five step-children, Kay Lane of Conway, Elizabeth Scoggin of Nashville, William H. (Bill) Bagwell of Conway, Diane Shewmaker of Nashville and Cathy Johnson of Fayetteville; three brothers, Clyde N. Alexander of Dierks, Walter L. Alexander of Winston, Ore., and William B. Alexander of Salem, Ore.; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Nashville.

Walter Bennett, 70
NASHVILLE -- Walter Bennett, 70, of Nashville, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, in a Texarkana hospital.
Survivors include: his wife, Louise Bennett of Nashville.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Restland Memorial Park Cemetery in Nashville under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home.

Violet M. Barrs
Age 82
NILES, Mich. -- Funeral services for Violet M. `Dolly" Barrs, 82, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7 in St. Mark Catholic Church. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with arrangements by Halbritter Funeral Home.
Survivors include: five daughters, Mary Hartness of Nashville, Ark., Elizabeth Clifford of Berryville, Ark., Cassandra Weideman of Ann Arbor, Susan Fralick of Edwardsburg and Jane Breyer of Ishpeming; a son, John Barrs of Mishawaka, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Marcia Horvath of Mishawaka, Ind.; a stepson, William Barrs of Edwardsburg; a brother, Maurice Vermullen of Channing.

Donna Epton, 66
Burial at Bluff Springs Cemetery
NASHVILLE -- Donna Epton, 66, died April 14, 2003, in a local hospital.
Funeral services were scheduled at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at Nashville Funeral Home, followed by burial in the Bluff Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include: her husband, Charles Epton of Nashville; two daughters, Danea Robinson of Nashville and Cheryl House of Iowa Park, Texas; three sisters, Romaine Payne and Betty Jo Wimmer, both of Lawton, Okla., and Wanda Blackburn of Wichita Falls, Texas.
Memorials may be made to a favority charity.

Mildred Austin, 81
Taught for 30 years in area schools
UMPIRE -- Mildred Spaine Brinkley Austin, age 81, of Umpire, passed away Monday, June 16, 2003.
She was born April 20, 1922, in Paris, Texas, the daughter of John James Brinkley and Alice Tennessee Brinkley.
On April 28, 1939, she married Marvin `Pete" Austin.
Mildred was a retired school teacher.
She taught for 30 years in Daisy, Kirby, Langley, Umpire and Dierks schools.
After retirement, she enjoyed substitute teaching and was a favorite of her students because she always related to young people as she was young at heart.
Her hobbies were painting and sharing pictures of her family.
She was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan, but loved everything Texas.
She was a member of the Daisy Church of Christ.
She is survived by: her husband, Pete Austin of Umpire; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Linda Austin of Baker City, Ore.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy Hobson fo Springdale, Sandra and Mike Pinson of Daisy, and Gayle and Terry Doster of Kirby; 13 grandchildren and spouses, Craig and Cheryl Austin of Wilsonville, Ore., Tim and Leslie Austion of Nampa, Idaho, Launa and Jeff Morphew of Langley, Caryn and Brad Pierce of Springdale, Laura Golden of Daisy, Paul Doster of Kirby, Lesli Johnson of Kirby, Alice Hobson of Springdale, Jennifer and Chris Watkins of Baker City, Ore., Teresa and Scotty Hardage of Kirby, Danny Hobson of Springdale, Kari and Scott Lowrey of Kirby, and Kimberly and Ricky Pennington of Kirby; 18 great-grandchildren, Ali and Cole Austin, Luke and Lily Austin, Austin and Sydney Pierce, Jack Baird, Thomas and Samuel Morphew, Lauran and CaSandra Golden, Samantha and Tristan Deputy, Camryn Johnson, Benjamin and Maggie Hardage, Taryn and Chandler Brinkley Lowrey; two sisters, Lucille Eades of Rotan, Texas, and Nina Hopper of Conroe, Texas; one sister-in-law, Jessie Austin of Glenwood; a special family member, Ray Counts of Mena; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2003, in the Langley Hall Church with Lowell Lites and Roger Cox officiating.
Interment will be in the Langley Hall Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Memorials may be made to the Langley Hall Cemetery Association, 2285 Hwy. 84W, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943 or to the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Craig Austin, Tim Austin, Paul Doster, Danny Hobson, Thomas Morphew, Samuel Morphew, Randy Austin and Mac Eades.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Pinson, Terry Kesterson, Lemeul O'Neal, Gene Hobson, Flanoy Manasco, Janet Smith, Donnie Cowart, Jimmy Jones, Randy Jones, Dr. Timothy Webb, the staff of Genesis Cancer Center and the staff of St. Joseph's 4 West Oncology Unit.

Lucy Jester, 87
Graveside services in Delight Cemetery
DELIGHT -- Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 17 in the Delight Cemetery for Lucy Jester, 87.
Mrs. Jester was born May 23, 1913, daughter of Albert and Lela Howell Stark. She died Sunday, April 15, 2001.
She was a homemaker and member of the Delight Church of Christ.
Mrs. Jester was preceded in death by her husband, Clib Jester.
Survivors include: three daughters, Virginia Freeman of Fort Worth, Texas; Mary Jester of Delight and Shelby Neal of Fort Worth, Texas; four sisters; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Harvey P. Dyer, 72
Retired trucking company owner
TEXARKANA -- Funeral services for Harvey P. `Bo" Dyer, 72, were Wednesday, June 27 in Texarkana Funeral Home Fuqua-Everett Memorial Chapel with Rev. Greg Burks and Rev. Fred Smith officiating.
Burial was in East Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Dyer was born July 7, 1928, in Buck Range, and he died Sunday, June 24, 2001, in a Texarkana hospital.
He was a retired owner of Dyer Trucking, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Rondo Hunting Club and Rondo United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Marie Dyer of Texarkana; two sons, Dale Dyer and Richard Dyer, both of Texarkana; a daughter, Sandra Rogers of Texarkana; a sister, Genevieve Hawthorne of Tomball, Texas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

J.D. Perser, 80
Member of Teamsters, Navy Seabee in WWII
BONHAM, Texas -- Grave-side services for Joseph Dixon Perser, 80, of Clayton, Texas, are scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 in Willow Wild Cemetery. Bro. Billy Colston will officiate, and services will be directed by Hawthorn Funeral home.
Mr. Perser was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Greenville, Texas, son of Joseph C. `J.C." and Nannie Neoma Robinson Perser.
He died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at his home in Clayton, Texas.
He graduated from Bonham High School in 1937, and served in the Navy Seabees at the end of World War II.
He worked for Strickland Transportation for almost 40 years, and was a member of Teamsters Local #989 in Little Rock and a rancher.
Survivors include: his wife, Brenda Perser of Clayton, Texas; a son, Ricky Perser of Lufkin, Texas; four daughters, Beth Baxter of Grand Prairie, Texas, Joyce Jobe of Bonham, Texas, Janie Young of Mineral Springs, Ark., and Lisa Sharp of Nashville, Ark.; a brother, George William Perser of Pineville, La.; a sister, Frances Perser Hicks of Hugh Springs, Texas; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
