Willie Shaw, 85
Burial set for Bissell Chapel Cemetery
NEW HOPE -- Funeral services for Willie Shaw, 85, are scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 in Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Bissell Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home.
Mr. Shaw was born June 24, 1916, in Gunter, Texas, son of Frank and Della Ragan Shaw.
He died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, in Nashville.
He was a retired logger for Weyerhaeuser Company and a member of Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church in New Hope.
Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by a grandchild, Delaney Rae Shaw, and a great-grandchild, Riley Amber Yeargan.
Survivors include: his wife, Della Eunice Turner Shaw of New Hope; four sons, Elton `Bud" Shaw, Joel Shaw and Charles Shaw, all of New Hope, and Jerry Shaw of Lockesburg; a daughter, Mary Lou Yeargan of Murfreesboro; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 at Latimer Funeral Home.

James Thomas Porter, 56
Memorial service Dec. 23 for Atlanta, Texas, barber
SARATOGA -- A memorial service for James Thomas Porter, 56, of Atlanta, Texas, is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23 in the Saratoga Cemetery. Arrangements will be directed by Nashville Funeral Home.
Mr. Porter was born Sept. 15, 1945, in Okay, son of Cecil and Kathleen Arnold Porter.
He died at his home in Atlanta, Texas, and the body was cremated.
He was a barber and a member of Westside Baptist Church in Atlanta, Texas.
Survivors include: a son, Scott Porter of Ashdown; three daughters, Marcia Porter Mitchell of Ashdown, Susan Dancer of Fouke and Misty Porter of Ashdown; a sister, Sue Reed of Texarkana; and six grandchildren.

Charles W. Bradford, 74
Retired heavy equipment operator for county
NASHVILLE -- Funeral services for Charles Wayne Bradford, 74, were scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11 in the Latimer Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Jerry Smith officiated.
Burial was in Restland Memorial Park under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home.
Mr. Bradford was born March 7, 1927, the son of the late Thomas Luther and Lucy Cornish Bradford.
He died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at a Nashville hospital.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Howard County Road Department, and he was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church for 46 years.
Mr. Bradford was preceded in death by two brothers, Rufus Bradford and Mack Junior Bradford.
Survivors include: his wife of 48 years, Lorraine Ameson Bradford of Nashville; two sons, David Wayne Bradford of Murfreesboro and Randy Edwin Bradford of Glenwood; a daughter, Kathryn Marie Baxter of Kirby; five brothers, R.J. McClure of Nashville, Edwin Bradford of Wake Village, Texas, Larkin Bradford of Kountze, Texas, J.L. Bradford and R.V. Bradford, both of Nashville; six sisters, Ruby McDaniel of Magnolia,l Elsie Lakey of Silsbee, Texas, Shirley Bradford of Nashville, Betty Kibodeaux of Beaumont, Texas, Linda Hockaday of Nashville and Patsy Whitehead of Genoa; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be made to the Texarkana Baptist Orphanage, P.O. Box 611, Texarkana, Arkansas 75504.

Shelba Jean Stedman, 65
Saratoga natie dies of breast cancer
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Shelba Jean Stedman, 65, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at her home in Arlington, following an eight year battle with breast cancer. She was born Oct. 22, 1936, in Saratoga, Ark.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13 in Fielder Road Baptist Church.
Burial was scheduled at 1 p.m. in DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.
Mrs. Stedman was preceded in death by her father, Haskell McJunkins, and a son, Randy, in August 1995.
Survivors include: her husband, C.T. Stedman; her mother, Bessie Fern McJunkins; four sons, Ron Stedman, Dan Stedman, Gary Stedman and Andy Stedman; and eight grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Dixie Johnson, 68
Resident of Nashville since 1959
NASHVILLE -- Funeral services for Dixie Faye Killian (Coulter) Johnson, 68, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 in First United Methodist Church. Rev. Jim Polk officiated.
Burial was in Restland Memorial Park under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnson was born Feb. 17, 1934, in Kennett, Mo., daughter of Hazel Fleeman Killian and Robert William Killian.
She died Thursday, Aug. 8.
A resident of Nashville since 1959, she was active in Nashville Junior Auxiliary and was a former elementary school teacher and literacy tutor. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Trinity Sunday School class.
She had also served as a church organist and member of the Chancel Choir.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by: her husband, Andrew Johnson, in 1995; her father, Robert Killian, in 1952; her sister, Bobbye J. Killian, in 1968; and her mother Hazel Freeman Meyer, in 1992.
Survivors include: three sons, Nate Coulter of Little Rock, Rob Coulter of Nashville and John Coulter of Little Rock; and six grandchildren.

Annie D. Sampson
Age 88
TOLLETTE -- Funeral services for Annie Dillard Sampson, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 in Floyd T. Jeans Memorial CME Church.
Mrs. Sampson died Feb. 17, 2003, in a Texarkana hospital.
Survivors include: a sister, Thelma Curl of Los Angeles; children, Faye B. Crosslin of Gary, Ind., Roy Lee White of Dayton, Ohio, Patricia D. Brown of Tollette, Norma G. Burrs of Harrisburg, Penn., and Bruce E. White of Nashville; stepchildren, Alonzo Sampson of Los Angeles, Bernell Sampson of Gary, Ind., William Dean Sampson of Flint, Mich., Lindsey Odell Sampson of Clow and Mary Helen Robinson of Little Rock.

Georgia L. Spradlin, 60
Funeral services at County Line Church
McCASKILL -- `Rita" Georgia Loretta Spradlin, 60, of McCaskill died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at her home.
Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18 in County Line Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. James Spradlin and Carey Short officiating. Burial will be in Gilchrist Cemetery in Friendship, Ark., with arrangements by Latimer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Spradlin was born June 15, 1942, in Friendship, Ark., the daughter of the late Hiram and Alltha Eleanor Jones Spurlin.
She was a member of County Line Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Spradlin was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Spradlin, Sr., a brother, Jewell Spurlin, and a sister, Madge Hughes.
She is survived by: two sons and a daughter-in-law, James B. Spradlin and wife, Rhonda, of Nashville, and Jeff Spradlin of McCaskill; two daughters and a son-in-law, Tammie Biffle of Tupelo, Miss., and Renee Rhodes and husband, David, of McCaskill; a brother, H.L. Spurlin of Oak Island, N.C.; two sisters, Janette Sheets of Boswell, Okla, and Thelma Smith of Hot Springs; seven grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Sylvia T. Mattice, 76
Burial at Bluff Springs Cemetery
MINERAL SPRINGS -- Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 in the Bluff Springs Cemetery for Sylvia Thomas Mattice, 76, of Mineral Springs. Bro. Art Baker and Bro. Jerry Icenhower officiated, and arrangements were by Nashville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mattice was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Boone, Iowa, daughter of the late Glen and Helen Davenport Thomas.
She died Sunday, April 15, 2001, in Texarkana.
She was a homemaker and member of the Bluff Springs Community Church.
Mrs. Mattice was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Mattice, who died in 1994, and a sister, Doris Mattice.
Survivors include: two daughters, Janet Mattice of Mineral Springs and Linda Butler of Dallas; a brother, LeeRoy Mattice of Farmersville, Texas; a sister, Louella Mueller of Tomball, Texas; four grandsons; two great-grandsons; and one great-great-granddaughter.

William Dillard, 87
First store of retail chain was in Nashville
LITTLE ROCK -- Funeral services for William Thomas Dillard, 87, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11 in Trinity United Methodist Church. Dr. Walter Smith and The Very Reverend Henry Hudson officiated.
Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Dillard was born Sept. 2, 1914, in Mineral Springs, the only child of Thomas J. and Hattie Mae Gibson Dillard.
He died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at his home.
He was the founder and chairman of Dillard's, Inc.
Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Alexa Latimer Dillard; five children, William Thomas Dillard II of Little Rock, Drue Dillard Corbusier of Fort Worth, Texas, Dennis Alexander Dillard, James Michael Dillard and Denise Dillard Mahaffy, all of Little Rock; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
