JEANETTE CAPLINGER
Mrs. Jeanette Caplinger, 65 of Harrisburg, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002 at the Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro.
She was born Oct. 16, 1936, in Weiner, the daughter of Clyde Caplinger and Lora (Smith) Caplinger. She was a graduate of Harrisburg High School and worked for 17 years as a factory worker for Testor Corporation in Rockford, Ill. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Caplinger, a brother, Seldon Caplinger and a sister, Geraldine Branyan.
Mrs. Caplinger is survived by her mother, Lora Caplinger of Harrisburg; four sisters, JoAnn Alexander of Jonesboro, Gail Matthews of Bonifay, Fla., Joyce Anderson of Jonesboro, and Regina Weeks of Jonesboro; two brothers, Billy Caplinger and Jackie Caplinger, both of Harrisburg.
Funeral service was 2 p.m. Sunday at the Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Van Gilbert and Mr. Russ Anderson officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner.
Pallbearers were Dustin Caplinger, Joe Watkins, Jeremy Anderson, Ronnie Branyan, Charlie Jones, and Billy West.

RUBYE IRENE COLE
Mrs. Rubye Irene Cole, 87, of the Friendship Community near Bradford died Saturday, Oct. 19 in Batesville. She was born Nov. 28, 1914, in Beedeville, the daughter of William Richard and Hazel Pearl (Jones) Smith.
Mrs. Cole was a homemaker and a member of the Bradford Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Emmerson Cole in 1969; her parents; and two brothers, John Smith and Raymond Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jeannene Harris and husband, Rickey, of Batesville; two brothers, Everett C. Smith of Panama City, Fla., and Frank B. Smith of Beedeville; two sisters, Lora Smith of Mountain Home and Ruth McGill of Turrell; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Llano Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Eightmile Cemetery at Beedeville.
Pallbearers will be Mike Callander, Tim Smith, Farrell Grigsby, Chad Harris, Josh Harris, and Zach Harris.

PHYLIS CLARK PARSONS
Mrs. Phylis (Clark) Parsons, 49, of Newport, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in Jonesboro. She was born Sept. 1, 1953, in Newport, the daughter of Anson Clark and Norma (Womack) Parmer.
Mrs. Parsons was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She graduated from Newport High School and attended four years at Arkansas State University. Mrs. Parsons enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with her family and pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Aaron Clark.
Mrs. Parsons is survived by a son, George Richard Buford, Jr. of Newport; two brothers, Anson Clark, Jr. of Denver, Colo. and Darron Clark of Green Forest; two sisters, Melissa Hubbard Riley of Tuckerman and Shelia Reynolds of Beedeville; and six grandchildren.
Graveside service was at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maple Springs Cemetery with Brother Teddy Rhea officiating.

FAYE GARRISON
Mrs. Faye Garrison, 80 of Newport, died Saturday, May 20, 2001 in Little Rock. She was born on Aug. 18, 1920 the daughter of Wood and Clara Mae (Stroud) Hughes.
Mrs. Garrison was a sales clerk at Van Atkins in Newport for many years. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. Her greatest interest was her family. Mrs. Garrison enjoyed working in her garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Garrison, Jan. 17, 1999 and one daughter, Anna Cheshier on March 25, 1989.
Mrs. Garrison is survived by three daughters, Lena Doyle of Little Rock, Ginger Martin of Little Rock and Buddie Everett and husband Cal of Green Valley, Ariz.; one son, Billy Garrison of Newport; six grandsons, Rocky McIntosh of Batesville, Keith McIntosh and wife Pam of Denton, Texas, Marc Bowers and wife Aida of Cord, Starr Cheshier of Lawrenceville, Ga., Larry Lee Cheshier and wife Michelle of Lawrenceville, Ga., Jason Garrison and wife Deanna of Newport; one son-in-law, Larry Cheshier of Newport; one brother, Foy Hughes of Batesville; two sisters, Beatrice Tugwell of Batesville and Shirley Pectol of Newark; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service was 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Merrell officiating. Interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rocky McIntosh, Keith McIntosh, Marc Bowers, Starr Cheshier, Larry Lee Cheshier and Jason Garrison. Honorary pallbearer was Larry Cheshier.

CHARLES B. GARNER
Charles B. Garner, 84 of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2001 in Kansas City. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23 at Platte Woods United Methodist Church in Platte Woods, Mo. with burial in Mt. Moriah Terrace Park in Kansas City, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Association.
Mr. Garner was born in Batesville. He was employed by TWA as a meteorologist for 30 years. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of WWII. He is survived by his brother, William Carl Ganer; one sister, Lucille Stephens; two sons, John and David; grandchildren, J. Nicole Kass and Denise Weaver; step-grandchildren, Renny Smith, Rick Smith, Kristin McNulty, Evan Skinner and Mikyla Skinner; and one great-step-grandchild, Ethan Skinner.
Arrangements by D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel.

EDNA MARIE (CAUSEY) ELUMBAUGH
Mrs. Edna Marie (Causey) Elumbaugh, 83, of Little Rock, formerly of Balch Community, died Monday, June 10, 2002 in Little Rock. She was born Sept. 19, 1918 at Amagon, the daughter of Jake and Mary (Balch) Causey.
Mrs. Elumbaugh was a retired Illinois state employee and a dietary worker. She was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, reading and being with her family and friends.
Mrs. Elumbaugh was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Elumbaugh; one daughter, Mary Jo McElyea; two brothers, John L. Causey and Leo A. Causey; and one sister, Gevena Jolly.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Jo Elumbaugh of Clifton, Ill. and Larry Keith Elumbaugh of Kankakee, Ill.; three daughters, Phyllis Jean Napier of Memphis, Tenn., Patricia Ann Rickett of Scott and Sandra Lynette Baker of Sabina, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sam Moore officiating. Interment will be in Balch-Johnston Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-9 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Roy McElyea, Steve McElyea, Chris Hale, Jody Elumbaugh, Chad Elumbaugh and Travis Baker.

J.W. JOPLIN
Mr. J.W. Joplin of Heber Springs died Saturday, Oct. 26 in Heber Springs.
Funeral arragements will be announced later by Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

SUE ANNE SMITH
Mrs. Sue Anne Smith, 65, of Newport died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, in Jonesboro. She was born April 5, 1937, in Newport, the daughter of George 0. Causey and Rachel (Melville) Johnston.
She married Shelby William Smith on July 14, 1955.
Mrs. Smith was a retired teacher and homemaker. She taught at Castleberry Elementary School, before retiring in 1975. She was a graduate of Harding Academy in Searcy.
Mrs. Smith attended Arkansas Tech College and earned a Bachelor's of Science in Education degree from Arkansas State University. She was a faithful member of the Cherokee Church of Christ, where she taught Women's Bible Class. She enjoyed knitting, collecting nutcrackers, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, David O'Neal Smith; her parents, George O. Causey and Rachel (Melville) Johnston; her stepfather, Peel A. Johnston; and her aunt, Maude 0. Byrd.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 47 years, Shelby William Smith of Newport; a son, Joseph William Smith of Newport; a daughter, Melissa Anne Hodo of Newport; two brothers, George O. Causey, Jr. of Bryant, and John Peel Johnston of Newport; two sisters, Cindy Sweat of Newport and Mary Rachel Shankles of Hot Springs; six grandchildren, Christopher Jason Hodo, Rachel Phariss Smith, Emily Kathryn Hodo, Ross Allen Hodo, Jessica Lashlee Smith, and Joseph David Smith.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Llano Robinson and Paul Evins officiating. Interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Greg Brannon, Tom Long, J. C. McMinn, Gary Shumate, Dale Shumate, and Kyle Sanders.

O'NEAL MOOREHEAD
Mrs. O'Neal (Malone) Moorehead, 80 of Newport, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001 in Searcy. She was born March 2, 1921 in Jackson County the daughter of Roscoe and Jennie (Brownfield) Malone.
Mrs. Moorehead was a homemaker and raised five children. She was a member of the Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim W. Moorehead on Nov. 2, 1993; one son, Major "Red" Moorehead on Feb. 10, 1996; two brothers, Benny Malone and Rufus Gray Malone; one sister, Geneva Malone; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica Moorehead and Baby Clemons.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Moorehead and wife Reba of Newport; three daughters, Jennie Ward and husband C.W., "Jr." of Higginson Community, Searcy, Wilma Whaley and husband Buck of Griffithville and Thelma Clemons and husband Bobby of Newport; one brother, Sam Malone of Cord; four sisters, Opal Hunt of Newport, Norma McEvin of Tuckerman, Emma Nance of Monroe, La. and Faye Smith of Tuckerman; 20 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Lemons and Bro. Larry Merrell officiating. Interment is in Cheshier Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Wes Stoner, Ricky Stoner, John Clemons, Ferrell Whaley, Terry Whaley and Benny Whaley. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Stoner, Bill Stoner, Jack Moorehead, Scotty Moorehead and Jerry Moorehead.

NINA LEE McLAUGHLIN CUNNINGHAM
Mrs. Nina Lee McLaughlin Cunningham, 78 of Tulsa, Okla., died Monday, Oct. 28. She was born Jan. 7, 1924, in Newport to the late John Winslow and Beulah Walker McLaughlin.
Mrs. McLaughlin grew up in northeastern Arkansas, graduating from Tuckerman High School in 1941. She attended Arkansas Tech University.
Mrs. McLaughlin worked for Perrault Brothers, Inc., and moved to Tulsa with the company in 1952.
She enjoyed her animals, travel, and playing golf.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Winslow and Beulah McLaughlin of Tuckerman.
Mrs. McLaughlin is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Cunningham; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph A. Cunningham, III and wife Brenda, and William R. Cunningham and wife Stacey; grandchildren, Carley and Mark Cunningham and Michelle Mathis, all of Tulsa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Thursday at Asbury United Methodist Church with Dr. William Mason officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
