Mr. Dorris Don Arndt

Mr. Dorris Don Arndt, age 75, resident of Grannis, Arkansas, died Sunday, August 5, 2007 in the Wadley Regional Medical Center. He was born to Herman J. and Katherine C. Arndt at Mena, Arkansas, on February 11, 1932.

Don was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U. S. Army. He was a trucker, and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, and gardening, and was a member of the VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Junior Arndt, a step-sister, Hazel Cox, and on October 21, 2003, his wife, Berneta.

He is survived by three sons, and daughters-in-law, Doug and Debbie Arndt of De Queen, Arkansas, Don and Freda Arndt of Gillham, Arkansas, and Dennis and Sissy Arndt also of De Queen, four grandchildren, Jake, Cade, Michelle, and Amanda, three great-grandchildren, Cody, Lindsey, and Hudson, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Don Arndt will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 8th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rockey Starnes and Rev. Homer Frachiseur officiating. Burial will follow in the Mineral Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Durvis Nixon Stuart

Mr. Durvis Nixon Stuart, age 65, a life long resident of Foreman, Arkansas, died Saturday, August 4, 2007, in the Christus St. Michael Health System, Texarkana, after a sudden illness.

He was born to Albert Doyal and Willie Bea Mears Stuart in the Wallace Community of Little River County, Arkansas, on March 8, 1942. He was a life long member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Foreman. He was a retired employee of Ash Grove Cement Company of Foreman, and the Little River County Sheriff’s Department. He was active for many years in his local community with the ambulance service, fire department, and First Responder Program. His greatest passion was his work with various organizations devoted to the search and rescue of missing persons. He and his search dogs received numerous recognitions and awards for his dedicated Service. He was a Mason and a member of the Rocky Comfort Masonic Lodge #468 of Foreman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Martha.

He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Carolyn Jackson of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Dana, and her husband, Stan Webb of Columbus, Arkansas; three granddaughters, Jill Clark, and husband Stewart, Kerry Bridgeman, and her husband, Lance, and Katie Webb, one great-granddaughter, Leah Bridgeman, one brother, Albert D. Stuart, Jr. of Kemp, Texas, three sisters, Mary Ann Madden of Linden, Texas, Connie Banks of Texarkana, Texas, and Janice Matteson of Longview, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 6th in the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Foreman, Arkansas, with Father Norman Amps officiating. Burial will follow in the Marvin Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends at the church following services. The family has asked that donations be made to the Arkansas Search Dog Association, P. O. Box 4472, Little Rock, Arkansas 72214 or St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 9, Foreman, Ark. 71836.

Mr. David Kenneth Humphrey

Mr. David Kenneth Humphrey, age 40, resident of De Queen, died Tuesday evening near Stilwell, Oklahoma, from injuries received in a truck accident.

He was born to Kenneth Webster and Barbara LaWray Young Humphrey at Arcadia, Calif., on January 15, 1967. He served in the military with the U. S. Army, and was a truck driver for CCC Trucking, Heavener, Okla. David attended the First Assembly of God Church of De Queen., and enjoyed hunting rocks, fishing, hunting, and his children.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert William Higgins in 1987.

He is survived by two sons, Joshua Kenneth Humphrey and Michael Kenneth Humphrey both of De Queen, one daughter, Lakota Michelle Arlene Humphrey of De Queen, his mother and step-father, Barbara and James Earl Westbrook of De Queen, his father and step-mother, Kenneth and Anetta Dean Humphrey of McKinleyville, Calif.; two brothers, Johnny Ray Higgins of Wisconsin, and Jimmy Raymond Higgins of Pine Bluff, Ark.; one sister, Tonya Lynn Golden of De Queen, one step-brother, Scotty Westbrook of De Queen, one step-sister, Sissy Arndt of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. David Humphrey will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2007 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Homer Frachiseur, and Rev. Ray Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Overturf Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Mr. Omma Dwayne Ray

After a heroic battle with ALS, Omma Dwayne Ray passed from this earth on Tuesday, August 28, 2007. He was born December 19, 1932 to Robert & Eleanor Dickinson Ray in Horatio, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Eleanor Dickinson Ray; brothers, R. L. & Roy & son, Kevin.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Sue Hungate Ray; sons, Larry of Dallas, TX, Steve & wife, Sherrie of Mesquite, TX; brother, Jerry Ray of DeQueen, Ark; sister-in-law, Donna McCaleb of Hot Springs, Ark; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren & numerous nieces, nephews & a host of good friends. Mr. Ray served proudly as a radio operator in the Korean Conflict & was honorably discharged.

Services for Mr. Omma Dwayne Ray will be held, August 31, 2007, at 10:00 AM at the following locations:

Mrs. Margaret W. Leeper

Margaret Wilson Brinkley Leeper was born December 30, 1918 in Horatio, Arkansas and died August 26, 2007 at Crystal Falls Nursing Home in De Queen, Arkansas. Margaret was the third daughter of O.T. and Effie Brinkley of Horatio. She attended primary and secondary school in Horatio and college at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia and Arkansas Technical College in Russellville. Margaret married Walter Leeper on December 25, 1940 at the First Methodist Church in Horatio.

They set up housekeeping in Dyess, Arkansas where she taught two years. During the war years, she held various secretarial positions at the camps where Walter was stationed in the states. After the war, they settled in De Queen where her main interests were her children, her church and her bridge games with her friends. Later in life, her grandson was her greatest joy.

Margaret is survived by her Husband, Walter Leeper, her two daughters, Marcia Buford and her husband, Steve, of Horatio and Marianne Leeper of Athens, Texas, her grandson, Tom Parsons of Texarkana and his wife Tobi and great-granddaughter, Camryn.

Funeral Services for Margaret will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in De Queen with Rev. Dr. Rockey Starnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Redman Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 27th at the funeral home.

Mrs. Laqueta Irons

Mrs. Laqueta Joy Gray Irons, age 74, resident of Alleene, Arkansas, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at her home.
She was born to Charles Boston and Carrie Mae Deal Gray at Horatio, Arkansas, on June 3, 1933. She was a Protestant and a homemaker.. She enjoyed fishing, bingo, sewing, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tracy Allen Irons, and her husband, Delbert Irons.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom Ervin of Winthrop, Billy Wayne and Roxanne Shepard of Pinellas Park, Florida, and Cary Philip and Mary Irons of Star City, Arkansas, three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Paulette and Arthur Hassey of Fall River, Massachusetts, Debra Arlene and J. R. Irons of Phoenix, Arizona, and Gerry Baker of Alleene, Ark. two brothers, Travis Gray of El Centro, Calif.; and Jerry Wayne Gray of Lyons, Oregon, one sister, Frances “Tootsie” Tipton of Casa Grande, Arizona, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and two great- great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Billy R. Parramore

Mr. Billy R. Parramore, age 59, resident of Yukon, Okla, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at his home.

He was born to Leo Alphus and Fay Maynard Griffith Parramore at Lubbock, Texas on October 25, 1947. Bill married Rachael Satterfield at Gillham, Arkansas, on September 7, 1973, and to this marriage a son and daughter were born. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U. S. Army, retiring after 20 years service. He worked as a police officer for Plainview Texas Police Department for 10 years, and was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Oklahoma City, Okla.. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and spending time with his family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; Melvin Leo Parramore and 1941 and Denzil Parramore in 1997.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel D. Satterfield Parramore of Yukon, Okla; One son- Brian Leo Parramore of Ft. Stewart, GA; one daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Darlene and John Alderman of Keller, TX; three brothers- George Parramore of Lubbock, TX ; Jerry Parramore of Houston, TX; and Don Parramore of Seattle, WA; and one sister- Wanda Satterfield of Gillham, AR.

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Parramore will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 22, 2007 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Staggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wavie Lucille Janes

“Maw Wavie” was born March 9, 1920 in the Roundtop Community; she was a resident of the Greens Chapel Community. She was the backbone and the strength of her family. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, and attending rodeos. Her love for her family had no boundaries as well as she guarded her children with her strong Christian beliefs, and all of the love her heart could bare. She has left this world for the place she longed to live and prayed to see.

Maw was preceded in death by her father, John Morris, mother, Lula Belle Morris, husband, Jewell Janes, and brother Buck Morris.

She is survived by son, Franklin and Patricia Janes, daughter, Wanda Kirkpatrick, daughter Roy Jo Janes, son, Jimmy Dean Janes, son Harold Wayne Janes, son, Stacy Janes of Greens Chapel, Arkansas, daughter Jo Pat Binotti, Marshall, Texas, son Hershel Janes, daughter, Juanita Williams of De Queen, and daughter, Esther Herring of Wickes, Arkansas, son, Wendell Hogg, NewHope, daughter-in-laws, Patricia Janes, Judy Hogg, Charlotte Janes, Faye Janes, Rebecca Janes, and Ashley Janes, son-in-laws, Corky Binotti, Darrell Herring, and James “Willie” Williams, sisters, Floy Cox, Madean McSpadden, Artence Simms, and Evelyn Seay, 28 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday August 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Greens Chapel Methodist Church with Brother Gary Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in the Greens Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

Visitation will be held at the Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks on August 16th from 6-8 p.m.

Mr. Fred Kay White Jr.

Fred Kay White Jr., age 50, of De-Queen, Ark., went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at his home in DeQueen, Ark. He was born May 19, 1957, in Hot Springs, Ark., and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his parents, Fred Kay and Kathy Sue (Stone) White Sr.; one daughter, Kacee White-Caple of Hot Springs, Ark.; one sister, Julie Talley and her husband Mark of Sherwood, Ark.; one brother, Tim White and his wife Tammie of Hot Springs, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Billie Kay White and Melba Louise Heinemann- White and Grover and Agnes Stone.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2 007, in Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Manley Beasley officiating.

Arrangements are by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Hot Springs Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mr. David Franklin Chandler

Mr. David Franklin Chandler, age 65, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Monday, November 5, 2007 in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.

He was born to Frank J. and Lona Lee Griggs Chandler at Horatio, Arkansas, on August 14, 1942. He was a former Sevier County Deputy Sheriff, and a sewing machine repairman. He was a member of the Dilworth Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Randall Eugene Chandler, a sister, Grace Love, and a son, David Wayne Chandler.

He is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Jane Morris Chandler of Horatio, two sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Kay Chandler of Horatio, and Randy and Lori Chandler also of Horatio, three brothers, J. W. “Dub” Chandler of De Queen, Noel Duane Chandler of Brenham, Texas, and Lawrence Chandler of De Queen, Ark.; three sisters, Ruth Dorsey of De Queen, Becky Allen of Prairieville, La.; and Lois Wray of Greenville, Texas, seven grandchildren, Kristie Chandler of Horatio, Holly Jarrell of Little Rock, David Ray Chandler of De Queen, Jesse & Derek Chandler both of Horatio, Camron Bates of Atlanta, Tex, and Rachel Yount of Mountainburg, two great-granddaughters, Cali and Gracie, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Franklin Chandler will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 8th, 2007 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. L. Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Millwee Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 7th. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, P. O. Box 2222, Little, Rock, Arkansas 72203

Mr. Ronald Warford

Ronald Warford, age 59, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007 in Texarkana, Arkansas.

He was born October 13, 1948 in Gillham to Lester and Lola Holcomb Warford. He was retired from Pilgrims and a member of the Chapel Hill Baptist church in De Queen.

Mr. Warford was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Anderson Warford; and his step-children: Noel Stinnett of Horatio, Glenn Stinnett of the Central Community, Mary Smith and Leon Stinnett both of De queen, Teresa Stinnett of Kissimee, FL and Laurie Stinnett of Kenny, IL.

Graveside funeral service for Mr. Warford will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2007 in the Shady Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 7th at the funeral home.
