Keith Lee Walker

Mr. Keith Lee Walker, age 49, a resident of the Arden Community of Little River County, Arkansas, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 in the Christus St. Michael Health System, Texarkana, Texas.

He was born to Ottie Earnest and Betty Jean Martin Walker at Prineville, Oregon on September 25, 1959. He was a machine operator, and a member of the Non-Denominational Church. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, and deer hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Arlene Icenhower. He is survived by his wife, Melba Doolin Walker of Ashdown, Ark.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mason Lee Walker and Loyd Robert and Jamie Walker all of Ashdown, a daughter and son-in-law, Shasta and Eric Karnaki, U.S. Army, Iraq.; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Wendy Walker of Lockesburg, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Brenda Lewis of Lockesburg, and Kathy and Raymond Vallee of Ashdown, Ark.; two grandsons, Xavier and Jake, a granddaughter, Emily and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Keith Walker will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.,in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The family will be at the home of Raymond and Kathy Vallee, 450 Bryan, Ashdown, Ark.

Maxie Glen Gage

Mr. Maxie Glen Gage, age 77, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, March 9, 2009 in the De Queen Medical Center .

He was born December 6, 1931 in Estelline, Texas to Delmer and Lois Caldwell Gage. He was a security guard for Husqvarna, a Quarter Master 3rd class with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, was the founder of the Humane Society of Sevier County and a member of the Smyrna Church of Christ.

Mr. Gage was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Beverly Stringer.

He is survived by his wife, Juannelle Wesson Gage; one daughter and son-in-law, Ramona and Ronnie Butler of De Queen; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Ronnie Pickens and Merle and Bill Renfrow all of De Queen; two grandchildren, Jared Butler of De Queen and Trevor Butler and his wife Teresa of Conway, Arkansas and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Gage will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Foster Krudwig, minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery .

The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 11th at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Sevier County, P.O. Box 872, De Queen, AR 71832.

David Earl Miller

David Earl Miller, age 63, a resident of Lockesburg, AR died Saturday, March 7, 2009 in Lockesburg.

He was born July 19, 1945 in Foreman, AR to William and Julia Whisenhunt Miller. He was retired from Pilgrims Pride.

He is survived by two sons, Steven Miller and Jason Miller, both of Lockesburg; his parents, William and Julia Miller of Broken Bow, OK; three brothers, Johnny Miller of Broken Bow, Tommy Miller of Broken Bow and Charles “Billy” Miller of Foreman; two sisters, Janie LeFlore of Hugo, OK and Shirley Scott of Commerce, TX; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Miller will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 in the Mt. Ida Cemetery with Rev. Jerrel Helms officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Evelyn Clarine Stubbs Johnson

Mrs. Evelyn Clarine Stubbs Johnson, age 85, a resident of Yukon, Oklahoma died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 in Yukon.

She was born May 19, 1923 in Sevier County to Jim and Mary Bales Stubbs. She was a beautician, factory worker and homemaker.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James H. Johnson on December 11, 1996; two brothers, Leroy Stubbs and Ruel Stubbs: and three sisters, Burnis Taylor, Loree Evans and Gladys Evans.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and La Dale Johnson of Yukon, Oklahoma; three grandsons, Sean Tuckett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sam Johnson and Ben Johnson both of Yukon; two sisters, Rosalee Melton and Pearly Stubbs both of De Queen; a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2009 in the Beacon Hill Cemetery with Rev. J. L. Walker officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7th at the funeral home.

Walter J. Leeper

Walter J. Leeper, 90, of the Walnut Springs community near Horatio died Monday, March 2, 2009 in a local hospital.

He was born September 9, 1918 in the Walnut Springs Community to Mary Ann and Joe Leeper. He was retired from Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas , having been in education most of his adult life. He was a Rotarian, a World War II Army veteran, and a Methodist.

Mr. Leeper was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Leeper on August 26, 2007, and three sisters, Helen Gore, Irene Edwards and Alice Johnson.

He is survived by two daughters, Marianne Leeper of Athens, Texas and Marcia and Steve Buford of Horatio. Two sisters, Sue Reed of New Boston, Texas and Ruth Sportsman of Euless, Texas . One grandson and his wife, Tom and Tobi Parsons and one great-granddaughter, Camryn, along with a number of other relatives.

Funeral Services for Mr. Leeper will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2009 in the First United Methodist Church in De Queen with Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery , under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 3rd at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church renovation fund, P.O. Box 488, De Queen, AR 71832.

Lois Novell Lambeth Cook

Mrs. Lois Novell Lambeth Cook, age 82, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, March 2, 2009 at her home.

She was born May 19, 1926 in Lockesburg, Arkansas to Mack and Annebelle Womack Lambeth. She was a homemaker and a member of the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmer Cook on October 12, 2007; and one son, Eddie Albert Cook on April 30, 2004.

She is survived by one son, William Cook of De Queen; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Cook of Springfield, Missouri ; one sister, Maxine Wolcott of De Queen; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Cook will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2009 in the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church with Kristi Christopher and Henry Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Beacon Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 3rd at the funeral home.

Sharon Bradley Gray

Sharon Bradley Gray, age 47, left this earth for a much better place on Sunday, April 19, 2009. Beloved wife of Dale Gray for 27 years, 11 months and 2 weeks.

She was born in De Queen September 21, 1961 to Garth and Beulah Bradley.

She is survived by two children, Jeffrey Gray and wife Amanda and Amanda Manlove and husband Jack. Five grandchildren, Gena Gray, Jackson Manlove, Dalton Manlove, Landon Gray and Addison Gray. Eight siblings, Jane Dinger and husband Frank, Sue Neeley and husband Ben, Randy Bradley and wife Phyllis, Don Bradley and wife Donna, LouAnn Beavers and husband John, Edwin Bradley and wife Reta, Bobbie Morris and Calvin Bradley. Her mother and father-in-law, Bill and Estella McCauley, and her sister-in-law, Ulonda Jamison, and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Gray will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Van Ledbetter officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2009 at the funeral home in Dierks.

Harvey Allen Stout

Harvey Allen Stout

Mr. Harvey Allen Stout, age 85, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, April 17, 2009 in the De Queen Medical Center.
He was born to Ethan Allen and Leora Mae Huckaby Stout at Horatio, Arkansas on January 4, 1924. He was retired from the United States Air Force, where he served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. Mr. Stout was also retired from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Stout was a master of many crafts and professions. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a 32degree Mason, and a member of the Texas Masonic Lodge in San Antonio. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Mr. Stout enjoyed in depth biblical studies and bible conferences and revivals. He was a self taught Biblical scholar, played the guitar, mandolin, and harmonica.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and Aubrey Stout.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Leonor Canamar Stout of De Queen, a son and Daughter-in-law; Glenn Anthony. and Debra Johnson of Franklin, Tenn., a daughter and son-in-law; Teresa Ann and Dr. Tom Thompson of Dallas, Tex.. Six grandchildren, Scott Johnson of De Queen, Stephen Johnson of Arkadelphia, Jennifer Gibson of Dierks, Eric Thompson and Rachel Thompson, John Rawles Thompson all of Dallas, Tex.; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Autry Stout of Calif.; Charles Stout of Gillham; three sisters; Mary Bassett of Houston, Tex., Margaret Gibson of Waco, Tex, and Lorena Krudwig of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Harvey Stout will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2009 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Hebert and Rev. Renee Martinez officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Kenneth Zachry, Jr.

Mr. Kenneth Zachry, Jr., age, 45, of Horatio, Arkansas died Thursday, April 16, 2009 in De Queen, Arkansas .

He was born July 23, 1963 in De Queen and was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Zachry.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred Daniel Conatser of Horatio; four sisters and two brothers, Harriett Piper of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Lando Williamson and George Williamson of Horatio, Mildred McCain of McCaskill, Arkansas, Gerri Krudwig of Farmington, Arkansas and Shelby Murphy of Moore, Oklahoma.

Private graveside services will be held for the family and close friends with James McCain officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2009 at the funeral home in De Queen.

Callie Cravens Franklin

Mrs. Callie Cravens Franklin, age 91, resident of De Queen, Ark., died Sunday, April 12, 2009 in the Crystal Falls Nursing Home.
She was born to Jacob Benny and Laura C. Coulter Cravens at Lockesburg, Arkansas, on July 4, 1917. She was a diet technician at Crystal Falls, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, De Queen.. She served on the Sevier County Developmental Board of Directors, and on the Sevier County Museum Board of Directors. She enjoyed plants, flowers, working and serving others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, a son, Joe Benny Franklin, her step-sons, Leon Franklin, Major General Calvin Franklin, and Reynolds Franklin, and her husband, Moses Scott Franklin. She is survived by two sons, Charles Ray Franklin of San Diego, Calif., and James M. “Poochie” Franklin of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Callie Franklin will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. E. A. Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
