Laura had a curious mind and an unquenchable appetite for learning. Although sculpting in wood, stone, and clay was her first love in art, she also taught herself to paint, draw and do pottery and, when she passed, was teaching herself wood burning. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed cooking. Her love for creating art was only matched by her love for her farm and her many animals, including a current animal family of five dogs, four donkeys, one pony, two sheep, two goats, and an endless parade of cats. Her farm, Aravir Farm, was a bounty of flowers, trees and a garden that she planted and cultivated over the years. Her children recall her as dynamic, deeply inspiring, loving, stubborn, giving, and the most amazing mom they could have hoped for.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Cossatot Community College, in the AGRI LAB Building on Saturday, January 29, from 1 PM to 5 PM. A formal service with readings and speakers will be held at 2 PM during this time. The family requests that donations be made to an educational fund that is being set up in her name at Cossatot.
