Joel Gilbert Muse

Joel Gilbert Muse, 71, of Clarksville, Tenn., died Friday, April 8, 2005, at Gateway Medical Center.

He was born on Dec. 2, 1933, in Clarkton, Mo., the son of the late Edward Gilbert Muse and Emma Morrisett Muse.

Mr. Muse was a retired major in the U.S. Air Force, a veteran of the Vietnam War and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Muse of Clarksville, Tenn.; two sons, Mark Muse of Chesapeake, Va., and Joey Muse of Destin, Fla.; two daughters, Stephanie Gregory and Rhonda Gonzales, both of Pensacola, Fla.; five step-daughters, Jackie Kelly, Tere Arambatzis and Carmen Grissom, all of Clarksville, Elizabeth Doll of Nashville, and Elisa Graham of Smyrna, Tenn.; a brother, Jerry Muse of Piggott; two sisters, Jean Scanella and Margaret Muse, both of Piggott; and 15 grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 13, 2005. The remains were cremated. Following the service, his remains were scattered at the Piggott Cemetery in the family plot. A memorial service was also held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home of Clarksville, Tenn., was in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association of Middle Tennessee, 1818 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203 or the American Lung Association of Tennessee, 1 Vantage Way, Nashville, TN 37228.

Delona M. Spinks

Delona M. Spinks, 79, of Piggott died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, in the Gideon Care in Gideon, Mo.

She was born on May 8, 1925, in Crockett, the daughter of the late Barney Richard and Ilah Bertha Goodwin Morrisett.

She married Doyle M. Parrish in May of 1943. He preceded her in death in 1944. She married Harrison Houston Spinks on October 5, 1946. He preceded her in death in 2002.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Morrisett and Norman Morrisett.

She is survived by two sons, Eldon Parrish and wife, Diane, of Piggott and Don Spinks and wife, Rebecca, of Newport, Minn.; six grandchildren, Scott, Sean, Leah, Leslie, Randy and Gavin; four great grandchildren, Bentley, Kyle, Chelsey and Matthew; two sisters, Lorene Petty of Piggott and LouVinnie Bradberry of McDougal; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Mike Chadwick officiating. Burial was held in the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard.

Pallbearers were Russell Bradberry, Dewayne Bradberry, Charles Morrisett, Donald Wilkes, Doyce Spinks and Lonnie Harmon.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Lawrence Grazevich

Lawrence Grazevich, 82, of Piggott, died Saturday, April 23, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born on March 25, 1923, in Benld, Ill., the son of the late Carl and Augusta Grazevich.

He married Maxine Showmaker in 1941.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Grazevich of Piggott, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel, with Shelly Elkins officiating.

Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard.

Pallbearers were Bob Palmer, Luke Palmer, Grover Baker, Gary McKenney, Jerry Grider and Bob Lightfoot.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

James Morgan

James Morgan, 79, of Piggott died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Leonard, the son of the late Robert Wesley and Nancy Emmaline Grogan Morgan.

He was united in marriage to Maxine Evans on May 2, 1946. They had seven daughters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons; and eight brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Morgan of Piggott; seven daughters, Ann Carman of Piggott, Nancy Hyde of Walcott, Phyllis Richey of Marmaduke, Mary Burton of Paragould, Paula Morgan of Pocahontas, Jill Midkiff of Piggott and Connie Baker of Rector; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernadine Adams of Rector; one brother, Joe Morgan of Rector; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Mike Book officiating. Burial followed in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector. Pallbearers were John Midkiff, Justin Midkiff, Aaron Midkiff, Mickey Burton, Terry Wilson and Brian Haley.

Junell Johnson

Junell Johnson, 74, of Piggott died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, in St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born June 15, 1931, in Piggott, the daughter of the late Nathan Zelmer and Luda Bell Brandon Smith.

She was united in marriage to Bobby G. Johnson on Sept. 28, 1951. They had four children.

She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Barbara Johnson; three brothers, Ezra, Oral and James Smith; and one sister, Mary Ellen Eskew.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby G. Johnson of Piggott; three children, Vickie Jean Clark and husband, Jerry, of Huntsville, Marcia Lynn Coyle and husband, Danny, of Piggott and Sarah Nell Poole and husband, Sam, of Piggott; five grandchildren, Amy Marie Pelts of Lenexa, Kans., Tiffany Jo Simpson and Brooke Simpson, both of Piggott, Matthew Clark of El Cajon, Calif., and Wesley Poole of Piggott; three great-grandchildren, Joey Simpson, Morgan Pelts and Caleb Pelts; one brother, Lem Smith of Holcomb, Mo.; one sister, Jean Stahl of O'Fallon, Ill.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Richard Akins, Kevin Eskew and Jerry Morgan officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Pallbearers were Brent Coomer, Wesley Poole, Kim Eskew, Byron Pelts, Jason Simpson and Chris Simpson.

Lestel "Slim" Davis

Lestel "Slim" Davis, 79, of Campbell died on died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born on May 9, 1926, in Jonesboro. Mr. Davis was of the Church of God faith and was a retired farmer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was united in marriage to Pearl Sauls Adams on Jan. 18, 1960.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Sauls Adams; three sons, Paul Davis and Vernon Davis of Piggott and Bobby Davis of Greenville, Mo.; three daughters, Donna Roberts of Gideon, Mo., Brenda Huckelberry of Piggott and Karen Davis of Paragould; a sister, Berthie Sellers of Jonesboro; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2005, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin with the Rev. Wayne Gilmore officiating. Burial followed in Brown Chapel Cemetery.

White-Sanders Funeral Home of Qulin was in charge of the arrangements.

Billy Wayne White

Billy Wayne White, 76, of Rector died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at Jonesboro.

Born June 23, 1929, in Cardwell to the late Sherman and Dora White, he was a farmer and a member of the Rector General Baptist Church.

Also preceding him in death was one son, Gary White; and five brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie White of the home; three sons, Jerry White and Neal White, both of Rector, and Robin White of Paragould; three daughters, Melinda Grooms of Paragould, Starlet Barker and Regenia Smith, both of Piggott; two sisters, Betty Gray of Owasso, Mich., and Juanita Horner of Little Rock; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. Mark Book and Bro. Marston Carpenter officiating. Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Ron Benson, Randy Rogers, Junior Carpenter, Clovis DeMent, Jim Mabrey and Ralph Featherston. Honorary pallbearers were Marion Gardner, Dwayne Birmingham, Buell Shelton, Donald Rogers, Mac Manchester, R.L. Hill and Ray Priest.

Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector was in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth Mayberry

Ruth Mayberry, 86, of Piggott died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

She was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Fagus, the daughter of the late James WIlliam and Adline Davis Fewin.

Mrs. Mayberry was a homemaker and raised her children. She was an excellent and beautiful seamstress and quilt maker. She could see a piece of clothing or a quilt and cut her own patterns. She operated a daycare in Piggott for several years. She always had a big garden that she tended by herself for many years and mowed her own yard as long as she could. She planted a garden this year.

The love of her life was her family. She always wanted family gatherings with all the family and big meals. The main dish, regardless of the holiday, was always chicken and dumplings. She was a wonderful cook, mother and grandmother.

She instilled honesty, integrity, hard work and a conservative viewpoint to her children.

Mrs. Mayberry was very independent and strong willed. Some of the nursing staff referred to her as "Miss Independence".

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Marvin Hogue and Henry Mayberry; a brother and two sisters; a daughter and a son; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter, James Hogue of Madisonville, Tenn., Bill Hogue of Piggott and Linda Newkirk Camp of Little Rock; two stepchildren, Max Mayberry of Piggott and Joyce Dudley of Mason, Texas. Mrs. Mayberry was very close to Max and proud of their relationship. Many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and many close nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Rev. Charles Cooper officiating. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard. Pallbearers were Neal Mayberry, Larry Newkirk Jr., Troy Hogue, Bradley Mayberry, Jeffery Conley and Dale Hogue.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Piggott.

Larry Warbritton

Larry Warbritton, 52, of Hardy, formerly of Piggott, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born May 6, 1953, in Piggott, the son of the late Mert and Thelma Reed Warbritton.

He was united in marriage to Pamela Courtroul on Jan. 25, 1974.

Mr. Warbritton was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Warbritton of Hardy; two daughters, Elane Whorton of Campbell and Andrea Warbritton of Piggott; two grandchildren, Dyllan and Alana Whorton; four brothers, Jimmy Warbritton of San Antonio, Texas, Eric Warbritton of Hardy, Gary Warbritton of Rector and Terry Warbritton of Pollard; one sister, Brenda Wyble of Cherokee Village; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Dennis Beaver officiating. Burial followed in the Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway. Pallbearers were David Scogins, Mike Harren, Larry Loveless, Elvis Chavez, Sonny Seffer and Dewayne Benson.
