Nancy Hall

Nancy Hall, 56, of Piggott died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, in the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.

She was born Oct. 1, 1948, in McDougal, the daughter of Emett and Geneva Trammell Gunnels.

She was united in marriage to Bruce Hall on Feb. 14, 1987.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Hall of Piggott; father, Emett Gunnels and wife, Jennine, of Knobel; mother, Geneva Schebor and husband, Chet, of Mio, Mich.; three children, Candy Sivaris and husband, Kevin, of Whittemore, Mich., Tommy Corbin and wife, Michelle, of St. Clair Shores, Mich., and Jeff Ryan of Houston, Texas; her sisters and brother, Betty Runyon of Whittemore, Mich., Bonnie Aschenbrenner and husband, Dennis, of Howell, Mich., Debbie Rolland and husband, James, of Port Richey, Fla., Brenda Phillips of Rolla, Mo., and Jerry Gunnels of Grayland, Mich.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Kevin Murray officiating. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Connie Bell Easterwood

Connie Bell Easterwood, 75, of Piggott died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Murphy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Piggott.

Mrs. Easterwood was born Jan. 22, 1929, the daughter of the late Labron Franklin Keller and Lilly Francis Thompson.

She was united in marriage to Joseph Fields, who preceded her in death, and later to Floyd Kenneth Easterwood, who now resides at Murphy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Piggott.

In addition to her late husband, Mrs. Easterwood was preceded in death by one son, Glen Edward Fields; and three sisters, Lilly May, Elizabeth Francis and Addie May.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd K. Easterwood; one son, James Fields of Paragould; one step-son, Kenneth Easterwood of Nashville; one daughter, Patricia Penn of Dexter; and one sister, Emma Bell Howard.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, in the chapel of Irby Funeral Home in Piggott with Bro. Bill Newman officiating. Burial followed in Cummings Chapel Cemetery at Pollard. Pallbearers were Ed Thomas, Rusty McPherson, James Murphy, Kevin Murphy and Robert Howard.

Irby Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Ardell "Art" Holifield

Ardell "Art" Holifield, 83, of Piggott died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Pollard, the son of the late James Monroe and Carrie Vagle Vaughn Holifield.

He was united in marriage to Martha AD Parrish on May 15, 1953. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2003.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Hamilton.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Holifield, Homer Holifield and Charles Sherraden.

He is survived by one son, John Hogard and wife, Marsha, of West Memphis, Ark.; one grandson, Terry Hogard and wife, Wanda, of Paragould; one granddaughter, Michelle Malone and husband, Brian, of Jonesboro; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Daniel; one brother, Melvin Holifield of Pollard; two sisters, Alma Mae Blake of Piggott and Betty Jean Whrolen of Dardanelle, Ark.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Dr. Shannon Holmes officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Terry Hogard, Brian Malone, Tom Sneed, Don Featherston, Bobby Shanklin and Ronnie Graddy. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Irby and Corky Edwards.

Norma Jane Mansfield

Norma Jane Mansfield, 65, of Piggott died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, in the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was born Aug. 25, 1939, in St. Francis, the daughter of the late Oscar Merrit and Minnie Marie Johnson Lamp.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Rhonda and Stevie; two brothers, Odell Lamp and Butch Lamp; and one sister, Carolyn Lamp.

She is survived by five children, Dennis Beaver of Piggott, Donna Smith of Heber Springs, Debbie Beaver of Piggott, Richie Dale Mansfield of St. Louis and Teresa Broadway of Nimmons; seven grandchildren, Rocky, Rebecca, Melanie, Amy, Jerod, Katy and April; three great-grandchildren, Blake, Auston and Eston; one brother, Lee Lamp of Piggott; one sister, Nola Dempsey of Greers Ferry, Ark.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Steve Oliver officiating. Burial followed in the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Pallbearers were Jerod Beaver, David Scogin, Grant Speer, Rocky Corder, Aaron Oliver and Jason Floyd.

Dorothy Sue Parham Price

Dorothy Sue Parham Price, 94, of Paragould, formerly of Piggott, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, in the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was born Jan. 4, 1911, in Friendship, Tenn., the daughter of the late W.L. and Ethel May Reid Morris.

She was united in marriage to William Earl Parham on Sept. 24, 1927. They had five children. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1983. She married Raymond Price on Sept. 7, 1990; he preceded her in death on June 18, 1993.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Billy Venson Parham, on July 4, 1933, and William Earl Parham, who died at birth; one grandson, Steve Langley, one great-grandson, Steven Tyler Greene; one brother, Opie Morris; and one son-in-law, Jerry Greene.

She is survived by three daughters, Sue Carolyn Langley and husband, Jimmie Langley, of Piggott, Fayetta Jean Millikin and husband, Jackie Millikin, of Paragould and Brenda Gail Greene of Piggott; five grandchildren, Regena Guinn of Paragould, Kyle Greene of Piggott and Sean Greene of Jonesboro, and Tammy Bell of Piggott, Cheryl Fisher and Gary Millikin, both of Paragould; five great-grandchildren, Ryan Fisher, Joshua Bell, Clayton Bell, Tabatha Book and Alex Greene; two great-great-grandchildren, Aaron Fisher and Calib Tyler Book; and one sister, Irene Mosley of Steele, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Jimmy Millikin officiating. Burial followed in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis. Pallbearers were Kyle Greene, Jerry Parks, Robert Fisher, Verlis Guinn, Ryan Fisher and Jason Russom.

Flora Berniece Russell

Flora Berniece Russell, 74, of Leachville, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born in Boydsville, the daughter of the late Ezra and Edna Morrow Gordon.

She had lived in Leachville for more than 40 years and was retired from Brown Shoe Company. A member of the former Liberty Hill United Methodist Church near Rector, she attended First United Methodist Church in Leachville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Russell; and three sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Gordon of Piggott, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, in the chapel of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville with Rev. Donnie Hudson officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery.

Wilma Jean Hoover

Wilma Jean Hoover, 74, of Piggott died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, in the St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born June 22, 1930, in Mountainburg, Ark., the daughter of the late Richard S. and Hettie Kennedy Hall.

She was united in marriage to Samuel W. Hoover on Sept. 16, 1950. They had three children. Her husband preceded her in death in 1996.

She is survived by one daughter, Kate Hoover of Jacksonville, Ark.; two sons, Samuel W. Hoover Jr. of Memphis and William W. Hoover of Little Rock; seven grandchildren, Sarah Clair, Leanne Morrison, Angus Hoover, Tara White, Max Hoover, Samantha Donda and Albert Hoover; four great-grandchildren, Jackie, Zachary, Dillon and Madison; three brothers, Jack Hall of California, Robert Hall of Pearson, Ark., and Richard Hall of Conway; two sisters, Sue Graham of Austin, Texas, and Faye Sanson of Conway; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, in the First Presbyterian Church in Piggott with Robert Norvell officiating. Burial followed in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Jacksonville, Ark.

Naomi Elizabeth Ezell-Fuller

Naomi Elizabeth Ezell-Fuller, 95, formerly of Piggott, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, in New Braunfels, Texas.

She was a homemaker and helped in the family farming business. She was of the Baptist belief.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, Virgil Scarbrough, Ed Ezell and Tim Fuller; three sons, Homer Scarbrough, Lee Scarbrough and Archie Dee Ezell; four sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include three sons, Eddie Ezell of Florida, Van Ezell of Arkansas and Link Fuller of Texas; four daughters, Betty Webb, Verda Lambert, Shirley Holifield and Doris Bryant, all of Arkansas; a brother, George Baker of Missouri; 49 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at Irby Funeral Home in Piggott with Link Fuller officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Grandsons served as active and honorary pallbearers.

Vicki Lynn Harris

Vicki Lynn Harris, 54, of Greenway died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, in the St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born July 8, 1950, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of George E. and Ola Maxine Dalton Tanner.

She was preceded in death by her father, George E. Tanner.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph Harris of Pollard and Matthew Harris of Fisk, Mo.; one grandson, Matthew W. Harris of Rosebud, Mo.; her mother, Maxine Tanner; one brother, Mark S. Tanner of Bella Vista, Ark.; one sister, Pamela Hickson of Piggott; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Pastor Wayne Bowman officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Hickson, Rob Hickson, Daryn Hickson, Leroy Chavez, Billy Burr and Franklin Wright.

Georgia Lee Bolen

Georgia Lee Bolen, 77, of McDougal, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.

She was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Crockett, the daughter of the late Millard S. and Minnie Lee Dunston Curry.

She was united in marriage to James Russell Bolen on March 20, 1947. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1980.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, M.L. and Tommy; and five sisters, Evelyn, Mae Lee, Thelma, Lela and Bertha.

She is survived by one son, Jackie Robert Bolen and wife, Sheila; one daughter, Glenda Carol Coomer and husband, Gaylon; seven grandchildren, Dane Coomer and wife, Tonya, Brock Cline and husband, Mike, Michelle Faletti and husband, Tom, Amanda Medley and husband, Charles, First Lieutenant J.E.B. Bolen, USMC, and wife, Wendy, Dessie Bolen and Sergeant Wilhelmina Bolen, U.S. Army; three great-grandchildren, Ian and Rebecca Faletti and Taylor Dayne Coomer; two sisters, Myra Luter and Leona Parrish; special family friend, D.C. McElyea; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with George Bearden officiating. Burial followed in Post Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dane Coomer, Mike Cline, Jim Bolen, Rob Bolen, J.E.B. Bolen and Randy Bolen.

Johnny Giles Whittle

Johnny Giles Whittle, 70, of Piggott, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott.

He was born Sept. 30, 1934, in Holland, Mo., the son of the late Sam D. Whittle and Ethel Lena Barnes Whittle.

He was united in marriage to Patsy Davis on Sept. 22, 1985, in Steele.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Whittle.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Whittle of Piggott; two sons, Larry Coulson of Versailles, Mo., and George Jenkins of Fredericktown, Mo.; six daughters, Joy Tate of Piggott, JoAnn Miller of Clarksville, Mich., Patricia Flakes of Southaven, Ind., Kathy Thompson of Highland, Texas, Sherry Jordon of Versailles, Mo., and Mary Riley of Versailles, Mo.; one brother, Allan Smith of Davidson, Mich.; one sister, Barbara Norris of Troy, Mo.; 29 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at the McDaniel Chapel in Kennett. McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett was in charge of the arrangements.
