Darris E. Bradshaw

Darris E. Bradshaw, 52, of Piggott died Thursday, June 2, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born July 20, 1952, in Piggott, the son of the late Harry Elbert and Irene Marie Reeves Bradshaw.

He had been an employee of Darling Store Fixtures for 21 years and was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Piggott.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce Koechig.

He is survived by his wife, Penny Bradshaw of Piggott; four children, Stacy Bradshaw of Piggott, Melissa Tedford of Ramer, Tenn., Dustin Bradshaw of Columbia, Ky., and Darris Burns of Piggott; three grandchildren, Brandan Bradshaw of Piggott and Jonathan and Kailey Tedford, both of Ramer, Tenn.; one brother, Harry Elbert Bradshaw Jr. of Campbell; two sisters, Karen Stevens of Piggott and Helen Figgs of Topeka, Kans.; his step-father, Nyal Jackson of San Bernardino, Calif.; two half-sisters, Carolyn Snider and Donna Davidson, both of San Bernardino, Calif.; and several other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Rev. Kevin Murray officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Stacy Bradshaw, Larry Moody, Greg Bradshaw, Billy Burr, Tim Nixon and Chris Roberts. Honorary pallbearers included Benji Philpot, Joey Philpot and Harry Bradshaw Jr.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Cindy Annette Beutel

Cindy Annette Beutel, 42, of Greenway died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 23, 1962, in Wasco, Calif., the daughter of Clarence and Joann Williamson Stockton.

She was united in marriage to Dave Beutel on June 8, 1996.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Stockton; her stepfather, Norman R. Salyards; and grandfather, Bernard Williamson.

She is survived by her husband, Dave Beutel; three sons, Steven Crabtree and wife, Holly, of St. Francis, Joshua Crabtree of Little Rock and Kaleb Beutel of Greenway; two grandsons, Tyler and Wyatt Crabtree; her mother, Joann Hughes and husband, Delbert, of St. Francis; her maternal grandmother, June Williamson; two brothers, Steve Stockton and wife, Ramona, of Pollard and Michael Salyards of St. Francis; the James Threatt family of Pollard; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Rev. David Moody officiating. Pallbearers were Gary Tucker, Brett Haywood, Lee Whittley, Judson Haywood, Nathan Davis and Scott Hartwell. Burial followed at New Hope Cemetery in Pollard.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Ralph Dean Poole

Ralph Dean Poole, 90, of St. Francis died Friday, June 10, 2005, at his residence.

He was born June 3, 1915, in Guy, Ark., the son of the late James O. and Norma L. Rowlett Poole.

He was united in marriage to Edith L. "Dolly" Fisher on Dec. 23, 1965.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, one sister, and two grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Edith L. Poole; two sons, Dean Poole of Pocahontas and Max Poole and wife, Billie Sue, of Piggott; two daughters, Jane Hinkle and husband, Lane, of Piggott and Julia Crews of Florida; two brothers, Bonner Poole of Malakoff, Texas, and Ray Poole of Troy, Mo.; two sisters, Bronnie Parton of Malakoff, Texas, and Vernice Wyatt of Lakeland, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Rev. Kevin Murray officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Ed Morris, Rick Haywood, Charley Cook, Vance Whaley, Neil Cluck and Delbert Hughes. Honorary pallbearers included Taylor Crawley, Wade Poole, Dale Poole, Barry Whaley, Wil Whaley, Brady Whaley, Colton Poole, Alex Wicker, John Scheffler, Jerry McKinnie and Nicholas McKinnie.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Ocull Armour Pollard

Ocull Armour Pollard, 100, died on Tuesday, May 26, 2005, at her daughter's home in Oceanside, Calif.

She was born March 10, 1905, in Bethel Springs, Tenn., the daughter of Cullan Jackson and Love Ada Gee Armour.

After a blind date with a Missouri man and a nine-month courtship, she married William Cletis Pollard, the son of Walter and Mary Russom Pollard, on May 29, 1926, in Clay County. Mr. Pollard was the grandson of William Pollard, the founder of the town Pollard.

They had four children, all born in the Southeast Missouri area, Elizabeth Jean (Betty), William Jackson and twins Boyd and Lloyd. Their father was also a twin.

The couple moved to Oceanside when Mr. Pollard's health began to deteriorate in 1968 to be closer to their daughter, Betty.

Mrs. Pollard was of the Southern Baptist faith. Mr. Pollard served as a deacon for 44 years before he died on Jan. 28, 1982, in Oceanside, Calif., after suffering a heart attack.

She lived with her daughter in Oceanside and was an avid quilter with quilts scattered all over the United States. She loved teaching the art to the younger women in her church.

Mrs. Pollard credited her long life to hard work and Christian living, as well as having good genes - her father lived to be 91 and her mother lived to be 95.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Lloyd in 1999.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Alford of Oceanside, Calif.; two sons, Jack and Boyd Pollard of Memphis; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2005, in the North Vista Baptist Church. She was buried beside her husband in San Marcos Cemetery.

William "Bill" Mobley

William "Bill" Mobley, 82, of Blytheville, formerly of Pollard, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, in Blytheville after fighting a long illness.

He was born July 6, 1922, in Memphis.

He was united in marriage to Joyce Galloway on Oct. 8, 1980.

Mr. Mobley retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service and moved to Pollard, where he lived for 21 years. While there he served as mayor and water commissioner.

He is survived by one son, two daughters, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Gary Hancock officiating. Burial followed in the Cummins Chapel Cemetery in Pollard. Active pallbearers were Billy Mobley, Jason Gaia, Buck Thomas, Curtis Forrest, Jim McIntosh and Ken Collins. Honorary pallbearers included Jimmy Hanna and Joe Kelly.

Delane Harrell

Delane Harrell, 44, of Piggott died Thursday, June 9, 2005, in the Piggott Community Hospital.

He was born Sept. 17, 1960, in Kennett, the son of the late Paul and Jean Turner Harrell.

He was united in marriage to Tonya Broadway.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Dickie Lee Harrell Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Tonya Harrell of Piggott; two sons, Christopher Harrell and Jason Harrell; two stepsons, William Nixon and Greg Nixon; one stepdaughter, Kim Nixon; three brothers, David Harrell and wife, Debbie, of Piggott, Dickie Harrell and wife, Marlene, of Greenup, Ill., and Doyce Harrell and wife, Cheryl, of Bentonville; one sister, Debby McNeeley and husband, Don, of Pollard; one grandson; 11 nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, in the Piggott Cemetery with Doyce Harrell officiating.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.

Mollie Montgomery Johnson

Mollie Montgomery Johnson, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 16, 2005, in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 5, 1912, the daughter of the late Edward Moss Montgomery and Georgeann Cathey Montgomery. She was a homemaker, a member of Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau and an active member of the United Methodist Women. She and her husband, the late Rev. Kern Johnson, formerly served St. Francis and Wright's Chapel.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Montgomery, Jude Montgomery and John Montgomery; and three sisters, Bernice Story, Mildred Hastings and Monell Roach.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty J. Nichols of Pollard and Ina R. Mann of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Alma Lassiter of Cave City and Audrey Roach of Sandtown; four grandchildren, Sabrina Nichols Woolverton, Sondra Nichols Sampson, David Nichols and Kevin Johnson Mann; seven great-grandchildren, Lindsey Woolverton Conwell, Drew Keith Woolverton, Cole Johnson Mann, Tate Nichols, Savannah Sampson and Skylar Sampson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005 , at Roller-Crouch/McGee Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with J.W. Roach officiating. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Batesville. Pallbearers were Keith Woolverton, Donald Hastings, Jeral Hastings, Dean Hastings, Mac Roach and Calvin Lassiter.

Roller-Crouch/McGee Funeral Home of Cave City was in charge of the arrangements.

Billy Joe Redmon

Funeral services for 65-year-old Billy Joe Redmon of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Rector, were held Sunday, June 12, at the Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Rev. Kim Bridges officiating.

Mr. Redmon died Thursday, June 2, at Sun City, Ariz. Born Jan. 11, 1940, to the late Aubrey and Bessie Redmon, he was owner and operator of Five Star Contracting Company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sammy and Donald Redmon; and one sister, Barbara Jinkins.

Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Lynn York, Leesa Beth Hemkens and Tina Renee Redmon; three sons-in-law, Andrew Hemkens, Christopher Nagel and Greg York; two sisters, Dorothy Henderson and Shirley Lochtan; four grandchildren, Sarah and Elizabeth Hemkens, Lauren Pedroso and Alexis York; and his friends who he loved very much, Gus and Kathy Macrides and children, Anastacia, Erini and Stefanos, and his extended family at Brothers Family Restaurant.

Burial was in Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Delane Redmon, Ronnie Redmon, Dennis Redmon, Don Redmon, Mike Redmon, Mark Redmon, Andy Hemkens and Joe Hemkens.

Mildred Spicer

Mildred Spicer, 89, of Piggott, formerly of Greenway, died Friday, June 17, 2005, in the Murphy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Piggott.

She was born June 11, 1916, in Bay, the daughter of the late Herbert Ray and Leolia Stone Martin.

She was united in marriage to J.W. "Pete" Spicer on March 1, 1940. They had two sons. He preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1992.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Vowell.

She is survived by two sons, Howard Ray Spicer and wife, Glenda, of Piggott and Kenneth Spicer and wife, Peggy, of Meridian, Miss.; one brother, Eugene Martin and wife, Norma, of Rector; one brother-in-law, Wayne Spicer of Greenway; three grandchildren, Neal Ray Spicer of Jonesboro, Kenny Spicer of Cherry Valley, Calif., and Michelle Spicer of Mentone, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Jacqueline Spicer and Trevor Spicer, both of Jonesboro, and Amanda Spicer, Josiah Spicer and Samuel Spicer, all of Cherry Valley, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Henry Dortch officiating. Burial was in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Pallbearers were Roger McKenney, Max Poole, Clarence Mack, Darrell Dalton, Terry McLeskey and Darrell McCrillis.

Frank J. Doty

Frank J. Doty, 67, of Piggott died Monday, June 20, 2005, at his residence.

He was born July 13, 1937, in Fagus, the son of the late William Herbert and Ruby Genevia Hosea Doty.

He was united in marriage to Arvella Moore on Sept. 17, 1977.

Mr. Doty was a member of the Fagus General Baptist Church in Fagus, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Herbert Doty and Ruby Genevia Hosea Wright.

He is survived by his wife, Arvella Doty; two sons, William Bailey and wife, Pat, of Poplar Bluff and Todd Doty and wife, Sarita, of Bryon, Ga.; three daughters, Kay Wilkerson and husband, Gary, of Poplar Bluff, Debbie Law and husband, Darrell, of Poplar Bluff and Glenda Burkett and husband, James Haarmeyer, of Poplar Bluff; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronnie Wright of Fagus; two sisters, Wanda Morris of Knobel, Ark., and Jean Morris of Rector; one brother-in-law, Arnold Moore and wife, Dorothy, of Poplar Bluff; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (today), June 22, 2005, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Rev. Gary Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in the Cummins Chapel Cemetery at Pollard. Active pallbearers will be Johnny O'Conner, James Haarmeyer, Michael Bailey, James Law, Tom South and Charles Hosea. Honorary pallbearers will include Terry Hosea, Ethan Lambert and Joe Lambert.
