Ms. Prince provided day care in her California home for several children over many years. Later she worked in medical billing for Alameda County for a decade, retiring in 1995. A devoted mother and "Grammy," she raised four daughters and a son. She went to great lengths to ensure that all of her children, and later their spouses, felt equally loved and that none of them was held higher than another. She did everything in her power to make sure that her children were properly behaved and prepared for church or social events. Her children fondly recall that, whatever the holiday or occasion, Virginia made sure they were well-attired, always buying or even making new clothes for them. Virginia also took pleasure in tending her beautiful garden of roses and other flowers and listening to old-fashioned Southern gospel music.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Clarence Jaggers; and her sister, Geletza Langford.

Survivors include her sister, Armenda Boyd of Piggott; her brother, Leland Jaggers of Forrest City; her daughter, Donna Skeen and her husband, Jim, of Davis, Calif.; her daughter, Rhonda Coleman and her husband, Michael; her son, Roger Prince and his wife, Cheryl; her daughter, Trudy Bowman and her husband, Matt; and her daughter, Rebecca Scully and her husband, Howard, all of Vacaville, Calif.; her grandchildren, Jesse, Daron, Chantal, Daniel, James, Aaron, Stacy, Andrew and Benjamin; her great-grandchildren, Justin, Melissa, Sidney, Adam, and Marguerite; and several nieces and nephews. She was looking forward to the birth of a sixth great-grandchild in March.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Christian Church of Vacaville, 66 Vine St, Vacaville, Calif. Dr. Stanley Franklin, retired pastor of First Baptist Church in Richmond, Calif., will officiate. Interment will follow at Vacaville Elmira Cemetery.

Donations may be made, in celebration of Virginia's daughter Trudy's survival of breast cancer, to Marti Nelson Cancer Foundation (the Moving On Support Group), 607 Elmira Rd, PMB 331, Vacaville, CA, 95687.

McCune Garden Chapel, Vacaville, Calif., 707-448-6546, is in charge of the arrangements.
